Patreon is taking action against PLEDGE DECLINES
Added 2015-12-05 20:11:57 +0000 UTCI know the great majority of the declined pledges are caused by credit card expirations and accidental lack of funds on the payment sources.
But there is also a significant number of patrons who provide false information without any intention for contribution to the project.
Turns out Patreon is finally tired of those cases.
From now on, DECLINED pledges will have no access to the patron-only posts and will not receive the notifications from the feed.
You can read more about it on the link below.

This will hopefully provide a better environment for the great majority of people who actually understand the importance of funds on creating the high-quality content most creators on Patreon aim for.

That's the missing part of the solution, so good to know!

2015-12-09 07:27:34 +0000 UTCThank you. The declines are a normal part of the webservices, and as long as the payment method is updated soon after the problem, patreon usually retries the processing in a few hours, so nice people like you don't suffer any consequences. About the early paypal days, I'm glad those are over. No more looking over my shoulder, scared that those moralists would shut down my account and block all my funds (which sadly ended up happening).

2015-12-08 14:54:54 +0000 UTCYou're right. The milestones are really affected by that more than the other things.

2015-12-08 14:54:21 +0000 UTCThey said upfront pledge is coming on the next weeks. I couldn't welcome that more.

2015-12-08 14:53:39 +0000 UTCIt's a good step, but it's not a whole solution. People get access as soon as they promise to pledge. SO what's to stop people pledging, getting access, then withdrawing the pledge just before month end before pledging again next month? Only way to stop that would be to allow access only after the first payment comes through, which would be a pretty tough thing to do. But otherwise this is just closing the barn door after the horse has bolted. -BM

2015-12-08 08:41:10 +0000 UTCI am surprised it wasn't the case before. This modification seem perfectly logical and reasonable.

2015-12-06 23:09:44 +0000 UTCThey always send an email notification if your pledge gets declined for whaterver reason, so one can take action to correct it. As soon as the payment is processed (which they try again within a few hours, on the first days of the month) the access to the feed is granted again.

2015-12-06 03:26:54 +0000 UTCRight on. Seems like an inevitability that's finally getting a resolution.

2015-12-05 23:39:31 +0000 UTCI hope they still send a ''warning'' if something like that happens since I keep my credit card limit low ( a self control tactic so I won't end up spending alot with infinite limit ) and near the end of the month it tends to get full :D
