Dennis - That's actually very interesting. I had never read any comic where I even learned that much about the White Rabbit. Under those circumstances, well, there might be something interesting that could be done with her. But it might take more room an an 8 page comic... or at least, she might need to be the only character save for Peter, in order to give her room.

White Rabbit isn't boring and is.... She's not very developed. She was an heiress who was forced to live a certain way, to do what her parents wanted, her life set out for her. She was even given as a bride to am 85 year old she never knew. So she broke free, killed him and once she was free.... She had no inhabitions. She was wild. Like Wonder Land. She steals because she finds it fun. She isn't some heartless psycopaht like Carnage and Shreik, she isn't an egomaniacal asshole like Doc Ock, she's a normal person who finds herself free in a way most people underappreciate and has been unable to hold herself back. She is interesting but because she isn't an extreme personality most writers don't know what to do with her. Personally I think she makes a great counter-point to Spidey and a great rival/bad girl love interest like Black Cat is.

After reading B+P, I found myself with an unusual conundrum: why didn't I enjoy it? And how do explain that fact? This was not an experience that I had had before, so let's go through the possibilities. First, art? There are artists that I like better than others, but to date, there was only one's style that I actively disliked, and even then, I felt like the art choice was still the right one for the story. To be clear, Autumn is not that artist. I've loved Autumn since the first time I saw her in Spidercest, and even more in New Ultimates. And there were some shots in there that were just... yum. Nope, the problem is definitely not her. Well, what about content choice? There are comics that I did not like or chose not to get because I did not care for the kinks involved, or the situation leading to the sex, or the character having it. But I have to admit that even in those cases, that the comics themselves were well put together. There was nothing unsound with the structure, it was really just the trappings, the flavor of the story. But B+P doesn't have anything close to those issues, so that wasn't it. The story? Perhaps. But in many ways, this story was much like many others previous: Bygone Blues, Mayday/Spidey 2099, Red and White Gifts, Our Valentine, and Liquorish Whiskers were all FFM threesomes with some structure and humor to them, same as this. I enjoyed all the ones previous, so what was the problem here? The dialogue? Not really. In some ways, the dialogue was the best part, because it's still TS at the helm, and she always manages to make the talky parts of her porn fun. it did feel a little weird to have Spidey refer to Felica as a psychopath, though: she has been obsessed with Peter in the past, but she was never a killer like Venom. Still, they run over the top of it fast, doesn't ruin the experience. The characters? Ah well, maybe we're getting to it. I have a fondness for a lot of the people in Spidey mythos: Felicia, MJ, Gwen, Kitty Pryde, Jessica, Miguel, even folks like Dr. Kafka and Shriek. They are people, they have stories, history, feelings. But White Rabbit? She was always, from my experience, a joke character. She was one dimensional, and never really got any character growth because of that. You can try to polish her up all you like, but at the end of the day, there's nothing to make her stand out save for the ears... and though I have enjoyed furry porn in the past (shut up, they can be hot), that's just not enough here. I guess at the end of the day, the problem with the comic is just that there's not enough 'there' there. it doesn't stand out enough for me, and even TS's dialogue and Autumn's art isn't enough to save White Rabbit from her cardinal sin of being *boring*. Hell, mostly the comic made me wish for more interesting playmates that it referenced: Carol Danvers or Shulkie. Ah well, at least there were some fun panels from Autumn. <3

Not too surprising to portray White Rabbit as having a distaste for men, what with her minions always snickering behind her back, and the closest things she's had to love interests being Arcade (who kept calling her fat and stupid) and the Walrus (who was both ugly and an idiot). She probably has lots of fun with Gypsy Moth (confirmed bi) and Panda-Mania whenever they team-up as the Menagerie.
