Woofs and Neighs?

It's time to think about raising the fetish bar and I would love to know how you'd feel about some Zoo action on an upcoming comic.

So please, answer this very simple poll:
http://strawpoll.me/6920707

I already have an idea for a story with some spider-femmes playing with dogs and horses but I will only go further with it if the results on this poll are favorable.

Vote wisely.

Go for it, I say. If people don't like it, they're free to choose from the rest of your catalogue - there's enough to chose from. I would be wary of the one or two strong opinions in comments here - that's their personal choice. But I don't believe in forcing my choice on others. Live and let live, I say. We're all adults here. There's room for all types here. That's what's great about Patreon - unfettered creativity!

Dontquoteme101

In part, that's correct. But taking risks were always part of my campaign here. And I can dissolve the risks among the other projects (it's been done more than twice before). And, economically speaking, risks are equally proportioned to profit (and I'm not meaning financial profit). Who knows? Old patrons can discover a new exciting fantasy fetish? I might gather attention of new patrons, who come for the Zoo and stay for the rest?

Tracy Scops

True. So your risk is that you'll go "I'm doing this for sure" and then lose enough money that you either need to cancel/postpone it or cancel/postpone the other comic for the month. The fact remains that as it stands, the "yays" - even in the most generous possible accounting - are not enough to finance the comic.

Altairadactyl

(Before I continue, I'd like to just make clear that I'm continuing the argument for the sake of conversation, not for petty reasoning of imposing my logic). I believe this point you've mentioned is a subversion of my logic as a Patreon creator. Every patron has a very clear heads-up of what they may of may not pay for every month. Also, the first money spent on the creations was my own risk-investment when I first started this. This way, patrons are just refilling the "Scops Fund" every month. So, if they don't want a particular comic, they just remove the pledge for that one (or both, in the worst case). Patron's money go into the comic they want to have.

Tracy Scops

Also, keep in mind that even if you want to assume that all 50 yes votes are from your most giving patrons - which would be foolish to do, but let's say we did - a bit under half of the comic would have to be financed by people who have not voted in definite favor of it in your poll. The miscellaneous spread of not yes votes, the 300 or so patrons who haven't voiced an opinion, et cetera. Which in turn opens you up to potential patron loss beyond those who have explicitly said they'll leave when people who haven't been paying attention log in and go "you used my money to do WHAT?".

Altairadactyl

You gave me a very good example: Gilf (ailf?) is a theme that doesn't interest me at all. I usually can't close the window fast enough when I come across wrinkly human naked bodies. I support many creators who work with that kinda content here on Patreon and I plan to continue supporting them, as long as it's a minor part of their creations. But if they started doing a majority/exclusive of works on content I find disinteresting, then I'd probably quit funding their campaigns.

Tracy Scops

You're quite right, Vervalsen. I'm not touching WB content even with a Hazmat suit.

Tracy Scops

I think you have a valid and strong point there, which is mostly the main reason why I decided to put that theme to vote On the other hand... I always follow the side winded discussion about my comics on other places. Places where I already don't have the ability to moderate or control. These are mostly posts started by leakers who spread my comics without consent and these discussions are already pretty judgmental starting by the fact that I do sexual content in the first place. If I were to decide on the Zoo content, the same judgment would probably take place, this time just focused on a different part of the fetish spectrum. The point is, I am free of prejudice when it comes to fantasy porn. I am very aware that there are patrons that may be offended by what I create, but if I were to bother with that, I wouldn't have even started doing these. What's at hand here is not about how many people would leave, offended. I don't really care about that. What I really want to know is if there are enough people interested to see what I'm proposing and if it's worth investing their support finances into it. Bottomline is, I still haven't come to a decision. And the main reason is because I do understand is a particularly controversial subject (zoo), inside another controversial niche (rule34), also inside a grander controversial market (porn). =/ http://www.quickmeme.com/img/12/1227c32e4c9eccafd355175bcf6174adbb35b9e9120c627d0251b44532e50bf2.jpg

Opening a new Patreon just for a new theme is something I'm pretty much disinterested right now. It feels to me like doing that would be the same as opening a new patreon just for Miles (because he's black and some people are not into BBCs), or for rimjobs (which happen at some rate in my comics), or for NonCon/DubCon/Rape, and so on... There's a wide gamma of fetishes available around and among them are a few I'm not particular interested into (i.e. scat/guro/giantboobs). The Zoo is something that does interest me, but it's not like I wanna do it frequently. The idea here is to have one or two comics with that every year, so it really wouldn't make any sense opening a new Patreon page just for that.

Tracy Scops

RenX (aka Ren Ferrer) has done some art like that on her patreon(NSFW) and hentaifoundry account (NSFW) if you like ultimate Aunt May. Not something I liked, but I do think more variety is good. Thats the power of rule34 type scenarios, you can come up with some crazy pairings that work better than you'd expect. Not all the time of course, but until someone creates it, you don't know if you'll find it appealing.

Vervalsen

I think Kennith's ideas of seperating it would be a good idea, it can be similar to what Shade does with his adult parody art versus his webcomic. From the WB side of superheroes, its more risky due to what happened with SunsetRider7's patreon, in which they had to completely switch to new content due to a DMCA request filed by WB. I'd like the parody comics to continue for a while longer until the Tracyverse becomes a reality.

Vervalsen

I wasn't a fan of such content until I played Swegabe's Legend of Queen Opala RPG series. I don't like all the sex choices in the series such as the severe abdominal bulging and the oversized breasts of some characters, but for example, I really liked the Sebastillion throne room scene in the first game, which opened my eyes to how well it can be done.

Vervalsen

I voted in the affirmative here because I'd like to see what story Tracy can weave around the such content, as I think it can be done in an interesting way. For example, I'm not a fan of the non-con/mind control stuff, but the Prison-Bitch one Tracy released last year is one of my favorites from this sex parody universe since I joined in late 2014 after hearing about it from Akabur's patreon. Akabur himself has dabbled in beastial art and comics and it'll likely be a small part of his upcoming Princess Trainer, and it hasn't affected or become the "new face" of his art. The vast majority of his patreons are there to see the full experience of his art and writing in the games.

Vervalsen

Personally? I think you work in a universe rich enough in terms of characters of both genders and adventures beyond the ken of us mere mortals that it's really not necessary or worth the potential damage to your brand. Keep in mind that your previews are what draw people in from outside of word of mouth; do you really want bestiality to become to new face of your business across 4Chan, Rule 34, Tumblr, and other sites where your decisions would be discussed outside of your ability to moderate or control them?

Altairadactyl

From those polled only half are fully on board. I understand the other half are separated amount varying degrees of disinterest. It is very much a glass half full/empty kind of argument at the moment. Is there an option for you so create a separate patreon for the Zoo stuff? Have you discussed debated other franchises to very up the stories?

Kennith

Thanks for the input, Kennith. That's exactly why I put up this poll. The funny thing is that the minority against the theme is much more verbal about it than the majority that actually wants it. It's a very tricky result indeed. I have a lot to consider before making my decision.

Tracy Scops

Personally, It doesn't interest me. I support because I enjoy the Superhero aspect of all this. I would understand/be ok with it if we are talking about Hank McCoy/Beast but straight forward bestiality (yes, I was going for the pun) is not for me. I would lower or cancel my pledge. I like recieving 2 hero parody comics a month. I would prefer if you started a separate patreon account/fund for those comics. I know this is not an easy task and the request is self serving but I'm just giving my own input. If you are looking for more fertile ground, as a patron I am interested in more heroes besides Spider-man. Nightwing, Batgirl and Starfire spring to mind personally. But with the WB's superheroes as popular as they are now, I'm sure an Arrow comic might be of interest. Also Dogpool, Comet (Supergirl's Horse) and Ace the bathound don't count for superheroes IMO, so no loopholes there! 😋

Kennith

It's not my thing but I'm not against it. I'll probably just scroll through it, but I'm still curious to see it.. But this gets me thinking what's next? Aunt May joining the Spidercest shenanigans? Everything is possible at this point. (I do find the ultimate version of Aunt May to be fairly attractive... total GILF... I'm not seeding here a idea or anything...)

Arácnido

I see. I, on the other hand, find it very exciting.

Tracy Scops

It is just something that really puts me off.

Thomas

I'm quite impressed that (as of right now) more than 50% of voting patrons are very enthusiastic about the idea, but the veto crowd is much more verbal against it. Almost 33% of my patrons voted already, which is quite impressive. But I'll leave the poll going for a few more days before deciding on the matter.

Tracy Scops

That is indeed a possibility. I'm still a bit undecided if the animals on that story would be talking versions of established chars or just regular pets. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Tracy Scops

Duly noted.

Tracy Scops

Hate is a very strong word. I'm more of a lookaway person for things I dislike and just let others enjoy what they like. That being said, I think your opinion about it is very clear. =)

Tracy Scops

Sure! If I go through with that theme, when the time for its release comes you could change your pledge to get only the other non-zoo release for that month.

Tracy Scops

I mean, I'm not really up for supporting it but if someone wants to buy it, could you sell it separately? Just a thought.

Personally I hate it.

Thomas

Not my thing.

I'm reminded of the super powered and costumed (but otherwise normal) Spider-Horse that showed up in Spider-Verse.
