I am onboard with what GD said sooooo much. I would very much be interested in a follow-up/sequel where BC comes crawling back to be dominated by Gwen and Peter. It was quite the shake up of known characteristics and it was hot and fun.

The different universe setting didn't bother me at all, the only real difference to me was the fact that Spidey's costume was different. The art was also worth the wait! My /only/ real nitpick was that, for something that punned 50 Shades of Grey, I was hoping there'd be more bondage action than just Felicia's hands being tied. In a way, the Black Cat vs Sinister Six was more of a fetish story than this was. But that's a creative choice, not something the team fell short of.

I'll be honest: I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy this one. Yes, it's a different world setting, but It's also not one I was that invested in. I have never seen the Amazing line of films due to others warning me off. Not to mention that really, aside from Gwen in the starring role that MJ usually takes up, the dynamic isn't that different from many previous pairings of Peter/MJ/Felicia. And given my lukewarm response to the last comic that involved those three, well, I was uncertain if this was going to hit my buttons. Which is why once I got this comic in my filthy fapping hands, I was shockingly pleased. Not blown away (we'll get to why), but overall satisfied with the end result. Tracy is in excellent form, and I'm not sure I can say exactly why I liked the plot/smut dynamic more than I have previous. I think part of it is the personalities. Felicia comes in with one expectation of what is going to happen, and suddenly has the rug taken out from under her. There is a 'I want to have my way with Spidey' and 'I want to do whatever it takes to get my prize' dynamic that is working in concert, and that's spoiled once she's captured. She wants to be in control, and that's briefly taken away from her (yes, there's the argument that she could have freed herself, but she didn't. She didn't just want the prize, she also actually wanted the sex, *and* she discovered that she wanted the lack of control.) - I think I just had a momentary revelation. *That's* the different part of this comic that I'm responding to. It's like B+W Gifts, but with Fel in bondage instead of Peter. I guess I'm more into the B of BDSM than I thought. o.o - Uhm, right, back to comic. So yes. Fel is bound, and Gwen comes in and shocks both Fel and Peter with how she takes control of the situation. Being the kinkiest one there, and dragging them all along with her. Which they happily let her. Peter certainly seems to be mostly smitten by Gwen, but when she wants to use Felicia as their sextoy, well, how can he say no to that. Who would. Gwen is in control the entire time of both P and F, which is why it's especially poignant when poor Felicia is left masturbating furiously on a rooftop, wondering why the Spider-Dick she wants so bad isn't coming. The normally dominant (or at least, sexually confident) Black Cat is now suddenly second fiddle to Gwen. I can't remember the last comic that actually made me think so much about the personalities involved or the D/s dynamic. So, good on Tracy. But here we get to the sticky part (and not in the good way.) The artist is... okay. They have a Stjepan Šejić feel to the art, which I like because I like that artist. But the bigger problem is that the art itself is inconsistent. From panel to panel, even. For someone that does so well for most of it, it's jarring when there's suddenly a face that's practically not there, or the panel of Fel running away with the diamond that looks all wonky in the attempt to do perspective. That said, if that was it, that there were just a few moments of poor art, I'd give it a pass. No, the bigger issue is the radical shift in art style. Most of the comic is straightforwards: distinct lines, crisp edges. It's when the artist gets away from that that it starts looking like either a whole lot more effort was put in, or not enough. The issues are most distinct when doing backgrounds, which is likely why most of the comic doesn't have much of one (entirely forgivable, when the focus is the sex), and in those cases where lines aren't so crisp (like the web swinging panels on page one) well, it's just filler art anyway, nothing important really going on here save for the text. No, the really jarring stuff is when from panel to panel, we go from those distinctly inked lines to something...smoother, almost watercolory, with even more intense shadows. Seriously, look at page 5, and the marked difference between panels 3 and 4, and then panel five where Gwen is helping feast on Fel's tits. If the face structure wasn't similar, I'd almost think this was a completely different artist. Overall, the art is not *bad* (except for when Peter's nose and mouth are barely visible lines), but the inconsistent art style is a little jarring. It's not a dealbreaker, but would matter more if I didn't like the art overall, as well as Tracy's story. I'm not giving it a rating, as that's not my thing. But I was definitely pleasently surprised by Cinematic Spidey, and it gets a thumbs up.
