What's next??
Added 2020-12-06 02:01:00 +0000 UTCReturn to Divalia doesn't have much to go--maybe another two months if I'm guessing. So it's time to think about what the next story will be!
I've got two stories kicking around in my head that I could work on in this space. They're both pretty different, but what they have in common is that I don't know a lot about either one and it'll be fun to explore them in a serialized setting. Whichever one doesn't win might be written on the side or it might just wait until the first one is done. Depends on my schedule!
So here are the story options. I view both of these as around long novella/short novel length, maybe like 50K words, or about a year of updates. Although because I haven't structured them at all, they could both easily run up to 80K (for reference, Return From Divalia is just shy of 80K as currently posted and will probably finish around 90K).
1. Squeak Thief. This is a heist-y kind of story about a college-age rich spoiled mouse who has to hire a middle-aged jaded fox thief to get something important back for him. I like the characters and have been thinking about this story for a couple years. They will probably have sex.
2. Die Hoard. This premise started as a joke but I keep thinking about it and I think it'd be hella fun to do. In a panel during Oxfurred Comma, I was trying to explain the idea of "comps" for your story (other well-known properties that your book is like), and I said off the top of my head, "like Harry Potter meets Die Hard." The other people on the panel told me I should write that, and I laughed about it, but honestly I keep thinking about a Die Hard-like story but with wizards and, of course, furries. I don't think this would be in the Calatians world because I also had the idea to call it "Die Hoard" and make the Takagi character a dragon whose hoard is the putative target of the heist. There will probably not be sex in this one.
OR, if you feel strongly about wanting to see another kind of story, you can vote for OTHER and write it up in the comments. I'll warn you in advance that this isn't likely to win, but it will be read by me and will be helpful to know what kind of thing you guys are interested in for future stories.
The poll will run (if I've done this right) through December 13th.
