What VR headset do you have, if any?
Added 2017-08-07 11:34:10 +0000 UTCI figured this would be good to know. I'm opening this one up to all patrons, as it's more of a hardware poll and doesn't specifically affect content. Only release formats are affected.
If you have multiple headsets, just select the highest one, or in the Rifts and Vives case, the one you use more.
About this months schedule: As mentioned on my previous post, I took the previous week off, and I'm now beginning work on the POV version of the "used as her toy" clip. Expect a playblast this week (5$ tier). Finished version should be done before the end of next week. VR version will take longer to render, but I'll post some progress pictures & clips of it as well during this month. I'm not sure if it'll be done before the end of the month or not, as I'll be rendering it only during nights/when I'm not home, so I can work on the unbirth clip during the day.
I'll start making the unbirth clip once I've prepared the VR version for rendering. I'd estimate that I'll be releasing WIP playblasts of the unbirth clip during the final weeks of the month. I'll need to make the new character for it as well, however, so that might cause some unexpected delays.

I hadn't checked recently but wow, yeah, the rift has gone way down in price. The ergonomics of the rift are really nice (been playing one at a friends place), the Vive seems a little less comfortable (over time anyway), but I like the Vive's controllers a bit more (I tried it a couple of times, in a store in town). I'm hyped to get one (Rift or Vive), just feel it's the cusp of version 2.0 so would be poor timing to buy into version 1.0 now!

2017-08-10 12:34:28 +0000 UTCI know from our previous conversations, that you strongly prefer the vive, but unless they match the rifts price, I really suggest at least considering the rift :) They're essentially on par with each other, with both having advantages and disadvantages, but the rift+touch costs 50% of what the Vive does at the moment. Even if you add the 3rd sensor for more accurate room scale and extension cables & what not, you're still way below the Vive's cost. This if of course only relevant if they don't drop the price when they release the new controllers.

2017-08-10 12:26:38 +0000 UTCI don't have a headset yet, but I will get a Vive at some point, maybe when the rev.2 controllers come out.

2017-08-07 23:05:43 +0000 UTCWell for a PC headset, the only real options are the Rift and the Vive. They're essentially on par with each other, with some minor differences. But the lower price of the Rift makes it better value at the moment. Only exception would be, if you have a huge playing area that you want to track (over 3x3m). The rift can handle over that as well, but that's the point I feel the accuracy starts to drop off a bit. Depends on how many sensors you have though. The rift can be a tight fit for glasses though, but due to the low price, you can buy new facepads that fit glasses better, multiple accessories, and still be left under what the Vive costs by a huge margin. If you can, I do suggest trying them out before buying though. If you go with the Rift, make sure to take a package that comes with the touch controllers, that's where the real magic is :) I also suggest a third sensor, but it's not absolutely required. It's 399$ on amazon at the moment, for the normal rift + touch package. Extra sensor & other accessories will probably add around 100$ to it. The Vive is 799$ for the base package, in comparison.

2017-08-07 22:38:02 +0000 UTCOh, I'd mostly meant like which headset is the "best" out of all of the options. I have a PC build mostly planned out with help from some friends. But none of them actually have any headsets.

2017-08-07 22:10:24 +0000 UTCIf you're uncomfortable with selecting custom parts / building your own pc, you can consider the oculus ready PCs for example: https://www.oculus.com/oculus-ready-pcs/ Alternatively you could use them as an template, and then build your own according to that. Best to do some research before committing to anything of course.

2017-08-07 22:08:45 +0000 UTCI've been looking into getting a new computer for a VR headset. Does anyone have any suggestions?
