Dr John I had heard that most human being want both of what you describe: both to belong and to distinguish ourselves (merge/emerge) which may be why cults and even religions may appeal to people. They provide both And perhaps this can be done in a healthy way when speaking of religion. Is it when this becomes unbalanced that this is a problem?

I think you just never know… look at some likeJeffrey Daumier he comes off all meek and harmless. How many times have we seen interviews of the neighbor of killers who says “he seemed like a nice guy…kind of quiet, etc”.

It made me curious, he's soft spoken, to us he didn't seem like a leader/master manipulator from a glance he blended right in with dork dad vibes. Is this an effort on his part to manipulate? OR is this our own biases and ignorance that dominance is loud, charismatic, and attractive?

Now I’m seeing Chad as you said “ the driver of the bus”. I know you’ve mentioned his profession playing a role, his midlife stuff, his wanting to be relevant, etc. I sense there is a much darker core...Could you talk a little bit more next time about Chad’s pathologies?

The notion that there are actually human beings out there like him terrifies me. A deeper understanding of what makes someone like him tick might calm those fears. ...Maybe. Thanks again to you both.
