Our FIRST Hidden Hour After Show (and not our LAST)

Welcome to our first after-show! John and I have talked, and we both agree that we want to make this a weekly thing for our Patreon members on Friday nights.  Of course, while recording this episode last night we already ran into some plot twists, so thank you for waiting an extra day before we posted and shared these additional questions from last night's YouTube live show.

We started recording, our son woke, we recorded again, you'll hear unintended background noise, but alas--here it is in its authentic glory.

In other words: We are still working out the details of doing a weekly show on Friday nights just for our Patreon members, but we are going to make it happen! Hopefully you'll see improved production as you come with us on this journey.

Also, Dr Babe's Book Club is coming soon! More details at the end of this episode.

I am diagnosed with Complex PTSD, I am an amputee caused by medical malpractice and neglect (it started as an ectopic pregnancy) but I also had several molestation as a child. Well a couple years ago I was unable to wear my prosthetic and after church one day I got in my boyfriends truck and the pastor came over while I’m the truck with my door open and I had told him about feeling situational depression, he rubbed my leg all the way up to my crotch and I had a freeze response and couldn’t talk or move and actually tried to convince myself it was in my head or that he “didn’t mean anything by it” When I got home I told my boyfriend what had happened…… it was a whole ordeal! Why and how do predators know who to prey on! It’s like they know if one has previous trauma. It’s like I attract it. So anyways I understand the freeze response completely!

I was thinking the defense is using this time as a “cooling “ in publicity and also to get through all the discovery information requested from prosecution.

I wonder if the roommate didn’t even realize murder had occurred and obviously terrified of intruder in the house. Perhaps assuming it was robbery or something else.

I hadn't heard of the book club before. Where is it? Is there a specific group of Facebook we have to join? Or will this be done via patreon?

Do you think stretching out the preliminary hearing for 6 months is just him wanting to bask in the strange mystery of it all and act like they're super mysterious things going on or something?

Crystal Swannack

Can you believe that it's going to be over 6 months until the preliminary hearing on request of the defense? And a gag order we won't have anything to talk about. And they're requesting 5 days. I can't understand or figure out why 6 months for a prelim

Crystal Swannack

Oh man I'm so sad I missed this, this will be exciting if you guys start doing this

Lori Hellis has some info about DM and why she reacted the way she did. Apparently she had PTSD from childhood. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mow0iqcypk&t=205s at around 19:00.

Disordered eating is a form of OCD.

Wait... We can watch your Friday Night lives ad free? I don't understand how to do that

I finished the book recommended by Dr John. It’s an interesting read especially with the case studies/examples. I’d love to hear you guys discuss cases with TikTok user @caseylytle also super interesting discussions on the Interview Room on YouTube with guests from the BAU including Dr Ann Burgess.

Making a psychopath by Mark Freestone. Debi—-we appreciate you so much!

Lauren and John Matthias

DM had no idea when she saw him that he had just murdered 4 of her friends.

Cynthia Avanzino

Just came across a YouTube channel (it's a criming shame) and they have leaked audio of the neighbours ring camera. If it's real, it's really chilling. I'd like you you to hear it as you'd be able to verify better than anyone. https://youtu.be/xptqlQJvQlA

Hi John and Lauren! My first thought when I heard about him was Leopold and Loeb and the whole perfect crime idea. Happy new year and thanks!

Thank you for this after show. Loved it. Regarding Dillon and the amount of time it took for the call to go to 911. I heard on another show it think from a retired fbi or retired Police investigator that according to her family she already had bad PTSD from her past. When she did try to make the call she went outside due to anxiety and then passed out while on the call. Her boyfriend found her passed out with 911 on the phone and all he could tell them was their was an unconscious resident and then the police came. I assume her ptsd kicked big time in after hearing the dog, the crying, the man’s voice saying it’s ok I am going to help you and then to run into him as she opened her door that 3rd time. In most likely left her unable to do what maybe a non affected person would do.

You guys do such a great job. Can you tell me the name of the book again please?

Debi Biggs

The stranger stalker scenario is very chilling. I have been stalked but I knew it- and that was hard knowing it and having to expect them around every corner. But the thought that I found out I had being stalked for that time- and hadn’t known at the time would be very haunting I think. Kind of similar - don’t know the word for it- but if you’ve been in a relationship trusting the person and skipping around thinking life’s good- then you find out they’ve been having an affair for the last year. The feeling of maybe feeling stupid you didn’t know? Or all those moments that seemed great now rained by the reality that the situation wasn’t as safe as you felt- This taking away that sense of safety and trust in the future. I am kind of glad I knew I was being stalked - if I had to choose between the two I think I would find the other way harder te regaining trust. In my case I knew why the stalker was doing it- and knew it was just him and that I didn’t have to worry about any person I saw and wonder if they were a stalker.

Tad Auty

I wondered if he was a hard marker before cos he was focused on judgemental strict marking- but after the murder he lost focus? And did the slack ass teacher thing ( I know some naughty teachers do when very busy ) and just have a glance at it and give them an ok mark to shut them up and get the work out of the way. Just a thought

Tad Auty

I’ve already read the book haha. But I do plan on reading it again. Can’t wait to discuss it.

Thank you
