idea discussion

For quite some time I've been trying to think of viable game premises. I've kinda narrowed down my approaches to 3 options:

1. Freerunning platformer. Play as Pivot, get from point A to point B.

2. Sidescroller shooter/metroidvania. Inspired by Cave Story and Megaman, play as Pivot, collect upgrades, shoot and fight your way through areas.

3. Monster RPG. Cast of monster characters (possibly 100% monster girls) in a more fantasy setting. This one I've had a more sophisticated idea for, since modern RPGs usually have some kind of mechanic that separates them from one another.

In case 3, the mechanic I had in mind would essentially be a normal turn-based RPG, but you'd get to move twice per round. You'd have defensive moves as well as offensive ones--if struck while using a defensive move, it'd follow an extended rock-paper-scissors system, where if you use the right type of move, you get to mitigate or negate any damage you'd otherwise receive, and counter attack.

You'd be able to use any 2 moves you wanted to: two attacks, two items, two defenses, etc, but enemies could as well. And a counter is only viable for one hit--so multiple attacks on one target ensure that they'll still take damage.

In spite of me giving more detailed information on case 3, which of these 3 would be more interesting to play?

The big things, 1 would be easiest to conceptualize and map out, but harder to animate and write. 2 would be easier to animate, but is harder to write. 3 isn't as complex as it sounds, but because there's more characters it'd take longer to animate, and it's a bit easier to write/conceptualize.

I thought I would have commented on this already but I must have not. I think each idea has there merit. I might personally enjoy free-running best, but not so much I am in disfavor of the other ideas. Mainly though I like the idea of a fantasy setting, regardless. Even if it is for only a fraction of the game. I think main advantages of 1 and 2 over 3 is 3 sounds more complex, and therefore less feasible. I don't suppose this is on a tight schedule, but for what it's worth.

As far as these ideas go, Im definitely down for a side scrolling shooter type of game with the adventure logic that Cave Story and games like Megaman ZX series went with that let you not only go through shooting and collecting upgrades but lets you talk to NPC characters as well. Seems like a fitting theme for Pivot at that. In addition, you have characters and even a world going on with Pivot moreso then the others.
