alright i've got it (idea dump)

I'm gonna be working on it throughout the year, and I'll frequently come here for ideas, advice, and maybe even a few character inserts.
It's going to be a Metroidvania style game, more of a focus on platforming and maneuvering than combat.
| PV02 'Pivot' has discovered a link between her manufacture and an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city. Upon investigating, a section of the building collapses, and she finds herself trapped inside. Pivot now must investigate the factory, dodging reactivated robots and solving puzzles to unearth its secrets and escape.
The general design theory: the player will go from room to room, finding an object that allows them to advance a bit further in another area, backtracking a bit and discovering more each time. They'll get to the heart of the lab below the factory, encounter the villain, then need to stop his plans and escape.
For equipment, there would be various tools that affect navigation. What I've got so far for ideas:
-Grappling hook - for swinging
-Rocket legs - double jump
-Rebreather - can stay underwater indefinitely without waterlogging. Gives access to another mod
-Afterburner - After sprinting a bit, can rocket forward with incredible speed
-Magnet brace - allows Pivot to root herself to certain walls, and even run up certain slopes and walls otherwise too steep to climb
-Blade - cut through stuff. Also an attack
-Antipersonel rifle - a sniper rifle that can hit targets from afar. Using it in the air can act as an extra jump
If you guys wanna suggest other tools that might be possible, feel free to chime in.
There would also be temporary attachments such as punchy arms, her mermaid attachment, and a flight mode.
There would be a bit of combat--old, reactivated bots that are strangely bloodthirsty, as well as maybe some prototype models of certain characters.
It only sounds complex because this is all the ideas right out on the table. But, other than that, if you have ideas or feedback lemme have it. :Y

I actually almost started a platformer game with hack and slash + grappling hook + rocket/double jump ~4 years ago. I did a lot of fun brainstorming and even started some state diagrams but didn't get very far in the programming and especially animation because reasons. I'd love to see something like this come to fruition though.

The combinatorics might make it unrealistic, but another fun thing to do might be multiple tool combo sequences. i.e. magnet brace + grappling hook = yank an enemy towards you. another idea is afterburner + blade = long slash during accelerated sprint, can apply damage across multiple enemies you pass instead of just a single enemy with a normal slash. Things like that. sword + grappling hook = yoyo blade. Not every possible combination needs a new outcome, but i think adding some combinations like that could really add to the fun.
