If you've been able to tune in to the first 45-60 minutes of my Twitch livestreams you'll notice I've been doing about 3 character pose sketches before getting into my page inking.
Previously I was of the mindset that you don't need 'warm ups' and can just warm up by diving straight into the main work, but I noticed my character anatomy started getting a little goopy in the comic pages. Sometimes my comic pages are nothing but environments with a few minimal character figures or silhouettes, so while I might be sharpening my backgrounds and shading skill, the actual character figure stuff isn't getting practiced.
Started spending too much time correcting anatomy problems when the terrifying realization hit me... I didn't know where these muscles or joints went anymore.
SO to fix this I try to draw at least 3 of these poses per day, especially on my comic work days. A pretty transparent shot at how I construct figures here
Obviously I miss some days due to other work or life insanity going on, but for the most part I think it's been helping a lot. You be the judge!
These are all from April 8th to May 7th.
