a word on withdraws
Added 2018-07-27 22:00:08 +0000 UTCAlright I'ma address this cause it's happened 3 times now over the past week.
If you wanna withdraw your pledge for whatever reason, it's fine, you're free to do that. Optionally you're able to provide an anonymous reason when doing so, which I can use as feedback. The most common reason is (totally understandably) financial situations, followed by "I only intended to pledge for a limited time."
I am completely open to feedback, though I usually wish people would provide it before jumping ship. The details I receive are anonymous. But as of late, if when you withdraw you select the reason "the creator wasn't engaging like I expected" given the recent events: then fuck you, and honestly good riddance.
I've been incredibly clear about the fact that I've been recovering from an RSI in my right wrist, making it painful to do anything at times. I've posted updates on this topic. Over this past week I've desperately wanted to draw more but I physically could not without risking permanently injuring myself. It's been cripplingly boring and depressing. Only now is my arm finally starting to get back to the point where I can again, and I'm going to try getting back to it in moderation so I don't relapse.
By telling me I'm not being engaging enough when I am injured and have been open about this fact, you're either insinuating that I'm not actually injured and that I'm lying (literally to what kind of gain?), or you expect me to produce content even when I cannot and risk a much more severe injury which would mean even less of an ability to draw long term. This injury sucks enough without dealing with that kind of entitlement.
There's no statute that accounts for sick days or vacations. If you expect a creator to constantly produce content even when they are physically unable to, you should not be pledging to any patreon pages.
If you want to withdraw because things have been slow, it's not like I can stop you, you should be an adult that can make your own decisions. But fuck you if you tell me I should hurt myself just to keep up my output.

that's fine. This is just about the 'reason for withdrawing' field when people remove their pledge. They can remove for any reason, I just don't like people telling me "I'm unsatisfied with your output while you're injured." Which has happened 3 times already. It's incredibly disrespectful.

2018-07-31 20:58:07 +0000 UTCI ended up just pausing my pledge for financial reasons, I'll unpause fairly soon, actually. Dick move for people to accuse you of not actually being injured, gonna be honest. Sorry if my pausing added to worry or concern regarding that

2018-07-31 14:25:58 +0000 UTC"I didn't expect you to ever get hurt, k bye." "y u no Superman?" Default choices for selection are bogus anyways. I think people should be required to type at least one letter from their own feelings before jumping ship. Sure you'll get a lot of "a;sldkfj" but that's just funny to try and sound in your head.

2018-07-28 08:39:52 +0000 UTCyou don't need to. I didn't wrongfully lose anything. People are free to withdraw, it's not about the money. I just don't like being insulted / them insinuating that the recent content output is intentional when they do so.

2018-07-28 08:31:28 +0000 UTCHumanity is easier to tolerate when you expect the absolute worst out of them. I'm gonna up my pledge for August. It probably doesn't make up for what you wrongfully lost but fuck it. Just know that all your followers aren't degenerate trash. We're just degenerates! %^D

2018-07-28 01:25:49 +0000 UTCHell Zed even with your wrist injury you are one of the most active creators I have seen on patreon so I agree with you if they want to jump ship over a legitimate reason like that they can suck it. Some patreons go a month or more with no updates but even with an injury you still keep us informed when you could completely fall off the radar while healing and leave us hanging if you wanted to but instead you go out of your way to keep us informed even while healing.

2018-07-27 23:31:24 +0000 UTCThis is why i hate people in general. Shit like this, thinking people can keep working when injured. Its people like this that make me sick.

2018-07-27 23:30:52 +0000 UTCAt the very least you now know which of your supporters care about you as a person too and not just for your art. I hope the recovery goes well and I look forward to what's next.

2018-07-27 22:35:50 +0000 UTCDammit. I left my telekynesis amplifier on the other trousers. You're right we should tell Zedrin how to buy one. Step one: write amazon on your thingy for the interwebz. Step two there should be a list of sites. Click on the non-russian one. Step three??? Step four: renewed profits!

2018-07-27 22:30:07 +0000 UTCI... Personally think you're wasting words. Who's left are people able to read and understand a situation, who's gone was incapable of doing so. π

2018-07-27 22:29:23 +0000 UTCThis, this is why, I want us humans to actually develop "telekinetics". Then when body parts fail, you can use the mind to make the pen/stylus do what you want.
2018-07-27 22:25:11 +0000 UTCClearly, cybernetics are needed. We can rebuild Zed's wrist. Faster, stronger! We have the technology!

2018-07-27 22:14:28 +0000 UTCI've already got a routine that seems to work and is helping a lot. This is more about people who've been withdrawing over the past week, basically complaining about the output despite having a very apparent reason why things are as they are.
Zedrin
2018-07-27 22:13:52 +0000 UTCDo not exacerbate physical injury in pursuit of nebulous 'output' goals. Concentrate on getting well both mentally and physically before trying to enact strenuous work schedules. Permanent injury can result from pushing yourself too hard for too long. I'd recommend finding some family or close friends to spend time with. It tends to help soothe the most acute symptoms of depression in my experience. As to wrist injuries, I'd suggest seeing a doctor, doing careful stretches as long as they don't cause pain, and wearing a brace.
