It still only ranks as my 5th favourite episode of Season 1 though, so there's a lot better still to come even in just the next 7 episodes in my opinion. Love your analysis and understanding that there's a bit more at play here than just an average sci-fi show. They're really trying to get at some good analogies on the world. To be clear, and don't want to give anything away, but the majority of viewers in the UK will have recognised the Dalek straight away - they were widely known as the biggest evil and ultimate foe of the Doctor in the original series run from 1963-1989 (first introduced way back in 1964) so this was a huge deal of an episode for most people in 2005.
