Hi Hazel, I've seen most of Battlestar Galactica, though not sure that Basty and Ashley have so maybe in the future...!

Yes, Joss Whedon does that well! Love Buffy! I may consider Battlestar Galactica in the future. Right now Dr. Who is all the sci-fi I can handle lol 😂

Cruel directors/writers are the best. :-D Joss Whedon is particularly notorious for that - fake-outs, fake fake-outs (where a character really IS dead), making you fall in love with a character only to throw them off a cliff... whole nine yards.
Ronald D. Moore also good for that - either of you (Mark or Other Boy) interested in doing Battlestar Galactica? Cos that would be amazing.

I love your thoughts so much. Wait and see with Tennant. I think you're going to adore him - he's widely regarded as the most popular doctor of the modern era, and in most polls comes out top Doctor of all time. You'll just have to wait and see with some of your other questions... but in regards to Lynda you asked 'why did they set her up for such a strong relationship with the Doctor'. I've read that it was a deliberate attempt to mislead by Russell T Davies especially with the fake out of Rose's 'death' in the previous episode and make people think she was going to be a new companion.

First invented in 1966 when William Hartnell was getting too ill to play the part, but the show was still getting huge ratings and they had to come up with a concept to keep the show going. And it worked incredibly well - and kept the show running for 56 years and counting...!

I knew that there were different doctors almost every season, I just didn’t know how that happened or if there was going to be an explanation lol. What a crazy/bold concept😂

I wondered if you knew anything about the regenerations before watching this episode. In particular how the Doctor is played by different actors. I'm still wondering about this as you didn't seem to have any questions regarding this process.
Also without a doubt you'll love Tennant as the Doctor.
A staple of the show is its reinvention and how quickly we are asked to move on after we have become attached to the characters. This process doesn't bring everyone along very easily. But I love that part of show the most.
A lot of brilliant stuff to come. You have only just got started!

I can’t imagine what that commenter meant about the show “getting away from God,” but you addressed it beautifully. The Doctor has been taking us on a tour of a magically wondrous and perilous universe with moral decisions and consequences at every crucial turn. How can this in any sense be turning away from God? If anything, it’s a turning toward. I felt bad for you when Jack got exterminated, but I knew you would quickly recover. I don’t really know what the point was of killing everyone aboard the satellite.
