I just realized that the Doctor’s prejudice towards Jack was a metaphor for homophobia. Jack is bisexual and a lot of the world feels that the lgbtq community shouldn’t exist like the Doctor said to Jack. But the lgbt community does exist and so does Jack and that’s neither is going to change.

In regards to Torchwood, the first season of Torchwood was broadcast before Season 3 of Doctor Who, so for those who watched both we already knew that Jack was immortal, which is why they didn't really explain it to begin with. I think you'd like Torchwood a lot, cos you're clearly a fan of Jack, and it's a much darker show than Doctor Who in places - I also think you'd like the fact it has a larger recurring cast, as you've made it clear you prefer that. It has some real highs, though overall it's not as strong as Doctor Who IMO.

For any Classic Who fans this was a huge huge moment - man the reveal was so great - but for people who haven't seen Classic Who it does normally perplex them a bit... :D I adored your love of Chan Tho. So cute! Particularly her conversation with Martha. :)

Just a comment about the "real" names of the Doctor and the Master - one theory is that they abandoned their true, secret names when they left Gallifrey, and chose their titles to reflect their personalities as to why the Master is evil - why are there evil/psychopathic humans? Every society/race/species have their renegade, saints and sinners, and Time Lords are no different in that sense. They just have more power, meaning they can do more good or harm, depending on their personalities.

I think Sir Derek Jacobi is brilliant in the episode, and shows why he’s revered as one of Britain’s finest actors. The switch from the genial, bumbling Professor Yana to the the evil psychopath of The Master is chilling, and all done with a change of expression in his eyes!
By now you will have learnt that The Master is a longtime enemy of The Doctor - his arch nemesis in fact. Played by several actors in the 1970s and 80s, his pronouncement of his identity as he murdered poor Cho Than sent a thrill down the spine of all us old viewers of the Classic series.

The Doctor chose his name because of his pursuit of knowledge, exploration and to help people. So to choose the name "Master" says everything about the kind of man he is.

Yeah I’m not sure if I’m going to watch Torchwood yet. I’d have to purchase each episode and I have so many shows on my plate right now

I like this ep. but I have a big affinity to The Master in the CLASSIC Doctor Who,. He was more like Sylar in Heroes, very conniving and Derek Jacoby captured the spirit of my master.
