The characters become more likable (or at least more interesting) when their vulnerabilities start to be revealed and you can understand more of why they behave the way they do, but Elliot summed it up pretty well- “magic comes from pain”. Nobody normal with a happy, satisfying life and great family dynamics becomes a magician in this world. You’ll learn more about some characters sooner, others are given depth over time with details about them revealed here and there. Even the professors are kind of messed up though. Btw, students can come and go from campus any time (it’s a college not a prison), but like Margot (Elliot’s bff) said it’s in the Bermuda Triangle of upstate New York, with magical wards all around it, so cellphones don’t work on campus, hence why they are always calling the outside world from pay-phones. And after the event with the Beast (who broke all the bones in Dean Fogg’s hands before ripping out his eyes) classes were canceled for a few days. That’s why all the students were just partying it up in the physical kid’s cottage, but they do that a lot anyways. We do see them in class a fair amount though and talking to their professors to get advice and stuff. Your thoughts on Julia going to the dark side are interesting, but I am confirming nothing. Look forward to more reactions 😊
