This was a fun episode. I love the fun murder mystery aspect, the comedy & the chemistry between The Doctor, Donna and Agatha is brilliant. It also has serious layers with Agatha doubting herself as a writer, Donna trying to boost her spirits by telling her how much The Doctor has changed her life & the ending with Donna drowning the wasp. The atmosphere of this ep is also good. I enjoy the arrangement of flashbacks, the secrets, developments and reveals of the unraveling murder mystery. This episode is just nothing but fun for me. As you saw in the previous episode, its The Doctor's nature to give the villain a choice hence why he tries so hard to avoid killing. Like Kodi said, he's more of the forgiving type but Donna causing the vespiform to drown is justified because there was no choice in this case. I like how this is kind of a reverse of the Wedding episode.

2020-04-08 15:31:14 +0000 UTCI'm on the side of loving this episode. I can see why it wouldn't be for everyone tho. I wasn't that taken with it the first time around either. It's one that I have grown to love. Maybe it's just because Donna is my favourite and she won my heart.

Not because I dislike it - I actually think it's a fun little romp, with some very funny moments - but more just in comparison with most of the rest of the episodes it is not all that memorable. This actually marks what seems to be a standard mid-season slump, but even so it is still markedly better than the weakest stories of previous seasons, which says a lot about series 4. I certainly enjoy all the little references to Agatha Christie book titles throughout the episode, which if you're not familiar with them are easy to miss (I've never read Agatha Christie, but as a librarian I'm at least familiar with the titles🙂). From this point on, though, the stories are outstanding, and you're in for some real treats!
