Doctor Who 4x13 โ€œJourneyโ€™s Endโ€ FULL REACTION

This was a super emotional episode. And I have a few thoughts. First of all, the DoctorDonna theme came to a really great conclusion here, Secondly, poor Rose. Like, HOW DARE YOU give me a dollar store knock off version of The Doctor and think I will be okay with it. That was bullshit, and I think they tried to do the best they could for Rose, but it was bullshit! Next, I am NOT okay with The Doctor wiping Donnaโ€™s brain. Yeah, she was gonna die if he didnโ€™t do it. But she knew that and was begging him to just let her die with the memories instead of doing what he did. He took away her agency, and I hated him for it for a long time. And then I realized that The Doctor is as flawed as all of us are. He makes the wrong decisions often, and thats what makes this tv series so good.

I feel slightly different about the conclusion of this episode each time. At first I loved to hate it. As it actually had me questioning if I'd just prefer if Donna had died rather than have her return to the character that I really didn't like much at all. I thought that was so clever. Killing her without actually killing her. With that, the contrast of Rose getting her slightly happier ending. Mostly now I settle in the place that although Donna is back as she was before The Runaway Bride (not necessarily recieved well by at first lol) The real Donna is in their underneath all the provado. That person The Doctor brought out by showing us all how special she is. Not because she is The Doctordonna but because of that heart. Donna remains my favourite because Catherine proved me wrong and then some when I questioned her casting when I began series 4. Interestingly the line that I truly heard this time. That had mostly passed over me before was when original 10 says "He needs you, that's very me." That's maybe about as close to I love as we are going to get from him.

So glad you enjoyed this finale and the last few episodes. To to this day, The Doctor and Donna is still my favourite Tardis Team out of all the ones we've had so far. This is also still my favourite series after all these years and I've seen every series. It will be interesting to see what you make of future episodes and different Tardis teams. But like you said, I'm so glad we didn't lose Tennant in this episode. Donna's exit is heartbreaking. They actually foreshadowed the memory loss in previous episodes like The Unicorn And The Wasp with Agatha forgetting what happened and Donna previously forgetting the Doctor in the library and turn left episodes. It's very sad to see Donna not think much about herself but then develop throughout the series and find her worth and the minute she reaches a peak she never thought she would by being part timelord, it has be tragically taken away from her which is so sad. Davros is really good too. I liked his interactions with The Doctor, Sarah Jane and the scene where they reveal The Doctor's soul about him turning humans into weapons. They've touched upon this in previous episodes like The Sontaran two parter and the doctor's daughter. It sort of becomes full circle here. The montage of those past characters deaths are also very poignant. I like how Rose gets a happy ending with the Metacrisis human Doctor. It's so bittersweet too. I also agree with you about Caan. I like that he turns against the Daleks after going mad. Seeing all the companions pilot the Tardis together with The Doctor is one of the best moments of this series. It feels so good to see everyone together and I wish we had more. Sarah Jane said The Doctor has the biggest family on Earth which is true but its also sad because the episode starts with The Doctor being with his friends and it ends with him being alone again. I think this is the best finale Russell has written so far because its such a crowd pleaser. He had plans to make this even more ambitious but sadly the budget prevented that. Us fans recently had a rewatch of this the other week along with RTD on Twitter and it was so much fun for me. :)

People of Skaro used to look like Humans before war broke out and many were mutated by Radiation. Davros, a scientist of Skaro would then engineer the mutated populous into The Daleks to dominate the wars on Skaro and the rest is history.

Catherine Tate had her own comedy / sketch show, most episodes are on YouTube. It's the FUNNIEST thing ever https://youtu.be/1xcfZShVIj0

I don't like Dalek stories much, but they're like the "icons" of the show and I think they have to bring them back each year due to contract reasons

Hello!! Davros in classic eho is pretty gnarly. He looks about the same, but the prosthetics are maybe not so good. Also, as to Dalek origins, its been sort of retconned multiple times in classic who, but in a timey wimey way as the doctor would say. To sort of combine origins, as is most often accepted, the daleks were created by davros specifically to basically be insane super soldiers, but their physical squid forms are a result of prolinged exposure to radiation as a result of war on their home planet on skaro, and they retreated into those shells bc they were too weak outside of them. Listen, if youre looki g for a fun time with the Daleks, id recommend the episode of the same name in classic who. Its the second episode of who ever, and its a serialized format so its split into multiple parts. It has camp, it has good messages about war and other stuff, and its the seond episode so you basocally need no forknowledge to know whats going on. Its honestly so fun and weird. Even if you dont react to it, id recommend just casually watching it to get a better idea of the daleks origins, as well as a look at how the show has evolved since then

A thing to note: these two episodes have the highest Appreciation Index of any episodes of Doctor Who, which mostly means it was incredibly well received by the general public. They're crowd-pleasing episodes and you can kind of see why; it's a huge crossover of three different television shows that a bunch of people watched. These episodes (and the specials) are possibly the most popular the show ever was, at least in the UK (it was barely known outside of the UK at this point, relatively). The most popular the show got globally is yet to come in your watchthrough.

I've watched this episode enough times that I don't really know what I think about it besides the fact that I enjoy it. It's just absolute madness. The main objection I have to it is how it handles Donna's exit. I think the idea is good, but I am just so uncomfortable by the fact that her mindwipe is completely against her will and she protests vocally and profusely as the Doctor does it. She has no agency, she's not given a choice, and it's really icky and the episode frames the Doctor at the end as "I had to do it, blahblahblah." as if we as a society have not deemed it immoral to perform medical procedures to someone against their will.
