You finally know what's going on (for the most part lol)! This story line was really hard to predict. I agree that it's similar to the movie The Time Machine in a way, just a little more diverse. The 2002 remake is pretty diverse if you haven't seen it. I wondered why they weren't more technologically advanced 2,000 years later too. But, then I also considered that they are all of what is left of human civilization. Maybe they just don't have people that know how to create certain technology, or maybe they are still in hibernation. Besides people aren't really allowed to be freethinkers in this town. Pilcher wants to control their lives, so I figure the last thing he wants is people coming up with new inventions. I agree that they should've thought of a better way to secure the fence though.
