Once Upon A Time 2x2 “We Are Both” FULL REACTION

Once Upon A Time 2x2 “We Are Both” FULL REACTION

Charming is ridiculous sometimes waved his sword unnecessarily at Regina or Rumple, I mean, be realistic buddy. I had hoped that he really becomes a prince like his title, that he takes care of his people and then he finds a way to find Emma and Snow but sometimes I find him selfish, even if it is because of his love for his family, Charming must be a prince like Snow must be a princess. We see how Regina got a taste for magic and Rumple is literally still there to influence everyone's life, he is really dedicated to the search for his son, plotting and manipulating people's lives for years 😱 I knew Regina was capable if you reason with her calmly to do what Henry wanted. I think she and Henry needed this discussion.

I love this episode because we finally get to see some of the psychological implications of people struggling with two sets of memories, as Jefferson said to Charming and as Charming addressed so well in his speech to the townspeople. Charming's comment that he didn't know the Mad Hatter but David Nolan had curse-generated memories of reading "Alice in Wonderland" was a nice reminder of this dichotomy they must all struggle with. Prince Charming would have had no reason to meet the Mad Hatter. The Enchanted Forest is a big place and everyone did not know everyone else. And as Heidi pointed out, Mulan and Aurora lived in different kingdoms so they would not have known Snow. Remember in the previous episode, Mulan asked Aurora if she had even heard of Regina. While everyone else is struggling with two sets of memories, Regina is struggling with one set of memories about the good person she once was and the Evil Queen she became. The episode title could reefer to her as well; She is both. I thought Lana Parilla's acting in this episode was great as she showed the emotions on her face when she realized she was doing to Henry exactly what her mother had done to her. Her love for Henry enabled her to take a step away from repeating that cycle by letting him go at the end. This is the first time we have ever seen Regina put someone else's happiness above her own since she became the Evil Queen, so it is a huge step for her. You are exactly right that magic is like a drug for both Regina and Rumple and they have both come to depend upon it for the power it gives them. How they each try to deal with that addiction should make for a very interesting story! Finally, I would note one bit of background you may not have noticed since you didn't mention it. It was intriguing to see Rumple's connection to Cora and his comments about the history between him and Regina's family. In the original tale of Rumplestiltskin, he offered to spin straw into gold for a miller's daughter in exchange for her first born child. Just as we saw symbolism in the cursed names of all the other characters (Snow White is Miss Blanchard, Red is Ruby, Rumple , who spun straw into gold is now Mr. Gold etc...) we see that Regina's last name in Storybrooke in Mills. One could argue that it appears Cora gave her child to Rumplestiltskin, at least in a symbolic way, since as he said to Regina in the flashback, "Someday you'll do something for me." by getting her to become evil enough to cast the Dark Curse for him.

Thank you so much! I really like this episode a lot. David... or more so Prince Charming... is amazing throughout, and I love how he is as unsure of himself as he was throughout season one as simply David Nolan, and even as a Prince in the Enchanted Forest, saying how Snow was the one who gave the speeches, while he did more of the fighting. Both Henry and Ruby really helped him come into his true self again, which I love. Also... David does really well with his "We are both" speech. It is beautiful, powerful, and I absolutely believed him like each of the characters did. And his relationship with Henry is absolutely adorable, as it continues to be. It is pretty clear the writers and creators know of the fans' dislike of David Nolan last season, even though I do understand it. Especially upon seeing his growth in this episode. I really love David's storyline and growth shown throughout this episode. Fantastic! :) By the way... everyone who've I've watched reacting to Once Upon a Time always seems confused by what to call Charming. Charming... for now is just Charming, since his true name has yet to be spoken, while his cursed self is still David. The only time he had a different name aside from being called Charming by Snow, was when he pretended to be his twin brother James in King George's and Rumplestiltskin's ruse for the sake of George's Kingdom when he tried to trick King Midas for his gold and wealth. For a long time, everyone knew him as James, until eventually Charming told Snow the truth about who he really was when they got together again and married. I hope this makes sense. Now, as for Regina's story in both the past and present storylines... I absolutely love them too. And like you... I love, love, love that she is trying to find redemption, all because she loves Henry so much. It's so beautiful. :) And there were so many great parallels between them with how Regina treated Henry, like Cora treated her. And I really love the origin story for Regina becoming Rumplestiltskin's student in magic too. Cora was a real witch and a horrible mother, but I'm so happy that Regina had come around to see the person she really was. I love that Regina finally punished her by pushing her mother into the looking glass. Seeing her push Cora through the looking glass into a land only known to us for now that its a land Rumple has no use of ever traveling to... was so, so satisfying. But back to my thoughts about Regina in Storybrooke... I absolutely love that Regina corrected her mistake and allowed Henry to go home with David. What a powerful character building moment for her. Seeing Regina apologize to Henry for hurting him for so long, and then telling him that she now is seeking redemption. So beautiful, and one of my all time favorite moments for Regina that we've seen from her so far. As for Regina's scenes with Gold, as well as David's scene with him too... very cool. I always love the two villains talking, and any confrontation with Gold. Robert Carlyle is a brilliant actor, just like so many actors in this show. And then... upon being told by Charming that they still cant cross the town line without losing memories of who they really are all over again, Gold becomes livid and smashes two of his glass cases and everything on them. He did all he's done to get Regina to cast the curse and to get Emma to break it, all so that he could find his son out there in our world somewhere. And now... he can no longer leave to do so. Of course he's livid. Brilliant! And finally... I was really happy we got a little of Emma and Mary Margaret in the end, and now they're about to come face to face with Cora. I hate that they're being treated like prisoners by Mulan and Aurora, but I kind of understand a little too. After all... as far as they know, Emma and Mary Margaret are the ones responsible for the Wraith coming into their world and killing Phillip. But I still hate seeing them in such a predicament. And now with Cora there too. Not good. In regards to your confusion about the time that's passed, and why Mulan and Aurora don't know Mary Margaret to be Snow White... First, in the previous episode, Broken... Mulan explains to Aurora that the Evil Queen's curse took most people from the Enchanted Forest aside from those who were living within the small corner of their world that remained untouched by the curse for yet an unknown reason, while they remained frozen for twenty-eight years. They didn't just not age like those in Storybrooke, but they were literally frozen in place. Also... it's most likely that Mulan and Aurora never met Snow White before the curse forever changed the Enchanted Forest. After all... Mulan is a warrior who was from China before she somehow wound up in the Enchanted Forest, and she's spoken of how she's traveled to many worlds. And Aurora... she was trapped within a sleeping curse for some time and before she was, chances are she's probably never left her castle. She's only about sixteen after all. Or she was sixteen when she was placed under the sleeping curse. Her parents most likely kept her well protected and therefore she didn't venture much out into the world. I hope this makes sense. I'm not positive, because why they don't know Snow White isn't ever explained, but these are just theories. Oh... and I also felt so badly for Marco/Geppetto and August. So sad. I would have loved to have seen them reunite in this episode. Thankfully, August has woken up and can move again, but sadly... he's still made of wood like when he was a little boy. And unfortunately, August is still ashamed of being a man now made of wood, given that him being so means he failed his father and strayed from being selfless, brave, and true like Blue warned him not to do. Is this why he's no longer in the room when Geppetto enters to find him? We'll see. :) Overall... this was a really good episode with many emotional moments. I love it! Thank you so much again! I look forward to your coming reactions. It's getting so exciting. Until next time...
