This was my favourite of the first 4 episodes of Smith's run and was the first time I really enjoyed him and Amy together - I think Alex Kingston really helped too. It's nowhere near as good as Blink - but few things are - it's still a fun, and unnerving episode. :)

Also, she told the Doctor she was going to need 'an air corridor' so I think we can assume he provided one for her.

Good reaction. I agree with you that this wasn't as scary or strong as Blink but its still a really good episode. It takes a more chase and action sequence approach with the Angels this time instead of horror. Amy is the first person to experiment with blinking during the presence of an angel. Its quite creepy how one of them entered her eye. River also asked The Doctor for an air corridor before launching herself into space. The Doctor actually used a gun before in End of Time where he shot at the White Point star which transported The Time Lords back to the war.

It's believed that you can survive in space for about 15 seconds before passing out due to lack of oxygen, so that's what was protecting River before she was in the vicinity of the Tardis which can produce its own atmosphere outside, like when Amy was floating.

I was reminded of the crusades, the church getting back to its roots. You looked legit scared for Amy.

Well, hello Sweetie! You’ve gotta love River Song. Interestingly, this 2 parter was the first thing that Karen Gillian and Matt Smith filmed together, due to Alex Kingston’s other commitments during the schedule. You can instantly feel the chemistry between them, not to mention with Alex Kingston herself.

I agree - this isn't as consistently scary as Blink; but I'll tell you something: that scene with Amy and the Angel on the view-screen is scary enough - but when it moved and you let out a scream, I literally jumped! :D
