I think part of it is that Amy and Rory were childhood friends. They have literally known eachother for most of their lives (from flashbacks later on that you've already gotten to by now). So I think she kind of takes him for granted. Doesn't mean she doesn't love him, just that she's never really had to think about it. I liked this conflict, because I related to the whole adventure vs. real life aspect so much when I watched this first. I don't get how you could go from seeing other planets and doing all these really cool things to a town like that. I don't think she was so much choosing between Rory and the Doctor as much as between Rory and the life she has now

I love this episode so much, I always cry during the scene after Rorys "death".
Sometimes it takes losing something to realise how much it means to you, luckily for Amy she didn't have to lose him for real.

Love it when they explore the Doctors dark side. Having companions is a byproduct of his wanting to keep on the straight and narrow but blames himself if he ever lets them down, causing a viscous cycle of negativity. In Classic Who it's hinted the Doctor's very last regeneration becomes fully Evil, adopting the name The Valeyard and tries to steal the 6th Doctors future Regenerations. It was never established if it was true or not, but i think the Dream Lord is a kind of call back to that concept.

"Amy's choice". The title says it all. Wonderful episode.

My personal favourite story of series 5. The explanation (the Dream Lord) is perhaps a little too 'out of thin air' - but I love the quirky concept and the good use of humour. This is one of those 'stories to recommend to someone who's never watched Dr Who' imo. The quirkiness seems to sum up the series.

I loooove this episode! One of my favourite episodes ever! Glad you enjoyed it too and caught the line about the Doctor hating himself, it’s brilliant!!

I love the concept and premise of the characters being stuck in two worlds and having to try and figure out which one is real and fake. It creates a decent mystery and really opens up a lot of feelings and emotions between the characters which is interesting to see. I really like the Dream Lord too.
