Doctor Who 5x13 “The Big Bang” FULL REACTION

So I think the Pandorica is just supposed to be a jail. They thought he was the only one who could fly the TARDIS (they just didn't know about River), so they thought if they put him in an impossible jail than the TARDIS couldn't explode, so the universe wouldn't blow up. This episode I honestly just love. It feels so epic, and for all the cheesiness this is one of my favorites!

When the Doctor visits Amy in the past during the Angel episode, he's wearing his jacket, where as the Doctor from that time had his Jacket taken from an Angel that grabbed him. It looks like a continuity error until its explained in this episode. The next episode it legit one of my top Doctor Who episodes ever.

I think there are spiritual insinuations to the Doctor and the fairytale nature of this storytelling. I don’t see him as God, but as an eccentric angel in the guise of fantastical science-fiction. It seems he always has the advantage of luck or serendipity on his side; and we know that he doesn’t perceive time or fate as we do. He always knows more than he tells, maybe more than can be told in ways we’re capable of understanding. River Song’s appearance at Amy’s wedding reception is a conundrum. Why then, why there? Why didn’t she find herself in her own century? I satisfy myself with the explanation that River is a “complicated space-time event” like she told the Doctor when they were looking for a way to close the crack during the episode with the Weeping Angels. I think in the long run, if we trust the story, if we trust there is an explanation, then we don’t need to hear it. Some mysteries do need to be explained, such as how Rory returned as a Roman. Even the Doctor wasn’t content calling that a ridiculous miracle that sometimes happens. And of course we were eventually given an explanation. But I think the writer wants us to trust him when it comes to River. There’s no way the average viewer can make sense of her complicated timeline without re-watching the series and taking notes.

The TARDIS exploding caused the cracks. Who/whatever blew up the TARDIS is still out there.

When he was talking to little Amy, I had all kinds of things going through my head. I thought there was a good chance that his incarnation of the Doctor would be wiped out by the reboot of the universe, and possibly previous incarnations, and there might be a new Doctor regenerated from the 7th or 8th Doctor! I kind of imagined that that might be used as a way to get away from the '13 lives limit' for Time Lords that the classic series established.

Final bit: the Doctor was: trapped in the nether space - he still existed, just not in the universe. also I like your idea that having been brought back by Amy, the Doctor has then gone back in time to get River to plant the book.

So just to be clear: it wasnt the Doctor's fault that the TARDIS exploded and destroyed the universe - it was whoever, or whatever took control of it. He just wasnt in it to stop the explosion.

Yeah we don't find out here what causes the TARDIS to explode. It wasmt River, she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The alliance thought that by keeping the doctor in the box, alive so he couldnt use regeneration energy, theyd prevent the TARDIS from exploding and destroying the universe. They thought the doctor would cause the explosion, but it was some outside force that the doctor doesn't know about yet, like he says at the end.

The villains were trying to prevent history from collapsing, yes -but they inadvertently made sure that it did happen, because they locked the only person in the universe who could have stopped it in a box - because they had misunderstood the situation: they thought it was the Doctor who destroyed the universe, because all their information pointed to the TARDIS exploding - and as far as anybody in the universe knows, the Doctor is the only one who can pilot the TARDIS: therefore, they thought if they locked the Doctor up it would prevent the TARDIS exploding.

The is a really fun and ever so slightly convoluted two part series finale, which I don't like to think too hard about incase I find any plot holes lol. I agree, I love all the others... But Donna Rules!
