Finally, we're getting somewhere with the main story!
That's what I was thinking when I first saw this episode. And so close to the end of the season too. It was the sort of thing I wish we'd had throughout the season. If only Jeffrey Dean Morgan had been available more.
I've seen vampires done many ways in movies and other tv shows. I may be one of the few who likes how Supernatural does them better than how they are portrayed elsewhere. They aren't that far from humans in abilities, and I like that. They are easier for hunters to go after, and that's why their numbers are low. But it does seem really easy to make new vampires. There has to be a reason why they don't make more. It's probably that they have to limit how many they make. More vampires, more victims they need to feed off of. More likely hunters will take notice of them. I like that there's a monster worried about hunters.

Classic A+ parenting by John winchester.🙄
That remark about the impala by John was so unnecessary the look on deans face :( he loves that car so much
I've always loved Sam and John's dynamic.. the fight scene was intense! and I love the way dean is so protective of Sam. As soon as John put his hands on Sam dean got between them and told him to stop. only time he ever goes against his dad is for sammy🥺
Jared's portyal of Sam gets better and better every season! I think this episode works best as a set up for the next two - getting the Winchesters together again (angst!!!), and finding a potential way to kill the Demon. It's sort of Part 1 of a trilogy but with its own little vampire sub-plot.
