I agree with all of this. I never thought of it as a battle of wits before, but you're right. No one is claiming that they're good people, and that's highly appreciated. I think Marcel KNOWS he's more Klaus than he wants to admit. Think of when Klaus first came back to New Orleans. Basically everything Marcel was showing him, he topped it off with "Nothing I didn't learn from you." At first, Marcel really just wanted Klaus to be proud of him. I mean, you haven't seen your dad in ages and suddenly he comes home. Given the relationship, you're gonna wanna show him all your toys. Or how you fixed up his old truck - for example. But then Klaus quickly started showing his hands all - I want my truck back - style. (Don't ask me why I went with that analogy. 😂)

As I've said, call Marcel a victim all we want but he'll always chose power first. Not saying this makes him a bad person, but he is more like Klaus than he admits. The way he treated the witches and wolves, he doesn't have a moral highground. This show is a battle of wits, and everyone is a villan

I hadn't finished the episode yet so I forgot my point! The end conversation with Rebekah and Marcrl. It's so obvious that she played him because she thought if he wasn't in power he'd be willing to leave with her. Remember how she asked him to leave with her before Hayley went missing, and he wouldn't! And now he still won't leave with her, so the attempted takedown was for nothing.

This episode gets on my nerves for so many reasons!!! It leads to one of my favorite moments. But the WAY they move the chess pieces gets annoying at times.
The talk Marcel and Rebekah had at the beginning of the episode is what further made me believe she played him. The whole "Do whatever it takes to stay alive" just felt like she knew EXACTLY what he was getting himself into. How she was so willing to take on the vampires when it's a family matter, but not fight with them for something she claimed to want, spoke volumes. Klaus would've never gotten here if it weren't for that attempted takedown.
This episode reminds me just how much I hate Klaus. He's a delusional man-child. I still don't understand how people thought he was a compelling character. Like every conflict he's ever had was the result of his own doings.
Marcel is blinded by Rebekah that it never even crosses his mind if she was misleading him or not. The vampires still respect him because he's the devil they know. They don't even LIKE Klaus.
Father Kieran is between a rock and a hard place. I like his character, but all the events just pile on him. The fact that because of it, Cami falls to the back burner when she needs him most.

Mikael was turned into Original vampire as well. He was hunting Klaus all these years until Klaus killed him in Season 3 of TVD. They couldn't really kill Mikael back then because they didn't have a weapon.

Elijah falls in love almost as quickly as Rebekah. I love Davina she has this sweetness, she is so cute. Josh is the most adorable person ever, I adore him. I like Father Kieran he is funny. Klaus is so delusional I find it so funny lol. Marcel is so interesting I am enjoying his character so much. I want to know more about the werewolves, the actress that does Cami is so good, the emotions in every episode that she portrays. Cool episode, what happened with Tyler? Do we know? Yeah, Klaus is so ridiculously prideful, I have noticed that in tvd and here too apparently what the characters say to other characters isn't always what they are truly feeling.
