Jamie Mathieson just has the most interesting and unique ideas for episodes. Would love to see him return to pen a few more stories for the current era.

I know you aren't loving 12, but I'm really enjoying your take on him, because it's an interesting reaction to him. I've never seen anyone dislike him quite this much. God you would HATE the first Doctor I think. :D

This is a great episode, and the Boneless are such an original concept for an adversary. Clara having to take control and be the Doctor (and enjoying it) created a fascinating dynamic. The Doctor's concern, though, is that she's becoming too much like him, meaning she may have to make the sort of life and death decisions that he makes, as well as lying to people in order to try to keep them safe. In fact series 8 is very much about people lying to one another. I seem to remember Capaldi saying when asked to sum up s08 in 3 words, he said something about lies or lying, or possibly "Trust no one".

he sees himself in clara and he's afraid that he may turn clara into himself. shes doing this for the bored instead of the kindness from her heart.

"You were an exceptional Doctor, Clara. Goodness had nothing to do with it."
Basically to quote some one else, from something else.
"Don't be me, Jake. Be better than me."
They also went on to say
"You wanted this case, well you've got it. It isn't easy saving the world even one case at a time, but you stick with it."
Not sure that's, as fitting, but I like the quote.

Wonderful episode. Capaldi is fully Twelve now and in command. "You are not welcomed here! This plane is protected! I am the Doctor!"

Another one of my favourites of series 8. Perhaps they cram a tad too much into it;but this and Mummy make a very good pair (both written by Jamie Mathieson - which just goes to show that bringing in new writers can make a very positive difference)

An interesting episode for sure! The whole 2D thing could’ve been really cringey but I think they pulled it off. The ending scene with Clara and the Doctor was kinda sad in some way. He was upset about the people who died and hearing Clara talk about balance seemed to throw him off. He said he thinks like that mainly so nobody else has to. He doesn’t want Clara to think the way he does and justify sacrifice to save others. “Goodness has nothing to do with it”. I don’t think of it an as ego thing either, more of a you shouldn’t be like me thing. Kinda reminds me of 8x1 where he called her a manipulative game player control freak. It’s those qualities that made her be so good at being the Doctor, not goodness . They’re more alike than they should be.
I loved the Doctor this episode, he was more toned down and cared more. I think having that old man helped because he was so harsh and annoying lol. Can’t wait for your later reactions!
