Doctor Who 7x9 “Hide” FULL REACTION + “Clara and the Tardis” Minisode

Comments

Yeah thats how I interpreted it, that Emma still had to keep the portal open for the doctor to get back; she just probably didn't expect that she would be pulling the TARDIS through too which is why it was so much more painful for her this time around.

Cold War was the only one I out and out hated - the rest all have enough good stuff to outweigh the cheese imo and this one and the next one in particular I have always really liked.

Haha I love films and tv and I find UK actors are usually better than American actors imo plus my mom always watched tons of Jane Austen and period films so I saw a lot of that growing up😂

This is a rough few episodes... Cold War is rubbish; this is intriguing but then amounts to very little.. and I am not a fan of the next couple either... but things get good again very soon. I am always amazed at how good you are at recognising British actors - far better than I am and I live here. :D

Yes, I really like the Doctor's outfit now! I really love the feel of this episode. The 11th Doctor is often lovely, but I think his sensitive side kind of takes a back seat when he's got his mind on other things. Holding hands when you're running only works for 10 and Rose. 😂 Oh, I love the way the Doctor running through the 'echo forest' looks. The ghosts must have knocked the price down on that house, but it must have cost a bloody fortune. I think the 'monster' was maybe crying? Oh, Emma was helping the TARDIS to make the journey, her pain wasn't wasted. Well, history seemingly recorded that Hila Tacorian had disappeared (probably presumed dead) during the time travel experiment. It would have been easier to smooth over a random woman appearing back in the 1970s than this time travel accident being fixed. Professor Palmer obviously had a lot of money, and also government contacts! Maybe the human time travel program was canceled or delayed due to her 'fatal accident', so humanity's time travel technology advancement was delayed? Maybe if she'd turned up again, humanity would have advanced more quickly, which would have been a substantial change. The 'sliver of ice in his heart'. I think that's mainly that he's focused on the puzzle of her, which can distract him from his 'humanity'. He doesn't fully trust her yet because of the mystery. Honestly, I totally ship the Doctor and Clara. I can just about believe that they never 'go further', but it's a bit of a struggle. They are totally into each other, IMHO. 😀 I'll never stop missing the 11th Doctor. 😥 😀 Oh, you're going to love the next guy once you get used to him, I promise. :D Might take a little while, but please give him a chance as he's joint favourite with 11 for me. 😀

The Doctor was always fairly Asexual in Classic Who, either because he never had a thing for Earth men/women or because he was already married once (we assume, he was a father and grandfather on Gallifrey) and never moved on. It wasn't until 1996 where we saw the Doctor kiss anyone for the first time in the American TV Pilot "Doctor Who the Movie", die hard fans didn't like it apparently.

Not looking forward to next week's but really looking forward to the week after next.

I guess he had/has an unofficial romantic relationship with River

Nice reaction Brandon as always. This is a favorite for me from series 7B, a good old ghost story which of course with Doctor Who is never that simple. Having a good supporting cast helps immensely and Dougray Scott and Jessica Raine do such a fine job as Emma and the professor, who would be more than welcomed back. And we also see Clara beginning to find her time traveling legs as she gets more comfortable with each adventure. Such a ball of fire from such a little person, I think this is when I begin to warm up to her and stop blaming that she wasn’t Amy and Rory (sigh). And she only gets better … CLARA: Have we just watched the entire life cycle of Earth, birth to death? DOCTOR: Yes. CLARA: And you're okay with that? DOCTOR: Yes. CLARA: How can you be? DOCTOR: The Tardis, she's time. We. Wibbly vortex and so on. CLARA: That's not what I mean. DOCTOR: Okay, some help. Context? Cheat sheet? Something? CLARA: I mean, one minute you're in 1974 looking for ghosts, but all you have to do is open your eyes and talk to whoever's standing there. To you, I haven't been born yet, and to you I've been dead one hundred billion years. Is my body out there somewhere, in the ground? DOCTOR: Yes, I suppose it is. CLARA: But here we are, talking. So I am a ghost. To you, I'm a ghost. We're all ghosts to you. We must be nothing. DOCTOR: No. No. You're not that. CLARA: Then what are we? What can we possibly be? DOCTOR: You are the only mystery worth solving ...

The Interface told Clara that the Tardis only has enough energy to travel to the pocket universe but not back — once there, its energy is drained within seconds. So Emma was needed to guide the Tardis back. I like the Tardis teasing Clara about her, uh, high self-regard. In the minisode, 2 Clara’s definitely eye each other appreciatively, so there is a grain of truth there maybe? 😜 “sliver of ice in his heart” — I think your interpretation of that line is spot on! “you are the only mystery worth solving” — I took this to mean that this Doctor at this moment in his life feels this way about only Clara specifically. She doesn’t know that of course, but the Doctor definitely was in depression (nothing in humanity or outside of it was “worth” his time) until Victorian Clara pulled him out of it and then the mystery of the multiple Clara’s finally became something “worth solving” to him. The Doctor likes Clara as a person, but he is definitely a bit obsessed with Clara the mystery, Clara the “impossible girl.” That’s largely why he invited modern Clara into the Tardis. “We must all be ghosts to you.” One of my favorite Clara moments. There are many!
