This would also include Liv and Luke as well as Kai and Jo, they are part of the coven. So the lives of all members of the gemini coven are bound to the leaders life. The merge is their way to determine the knew leader so the coven can live on. Problem is now they can't kill Kai because if they kill him they all will die ! So they need to find a solution to handle Kai. Thats what Papa Parker wanted to prevent, Kai unkilable as the leader of the gemini witches
