Thank you for the discussion😄 I think it’s an interesting issue that will probably be polarizing for a very long time as everyone has such a different viewpoint on it. With that being said I’m curious what your opinion of someone like Rachel Dolezal is? A white woman claiming to be trans-black. If you feel people’s pronouns should be respected because that is how they feel do you also believe people’s ethnicity can be something other than what they actually are if that’s how they feel on the inside?

I disagree with what you're saying about pronouns. I definitely get what you're saying, but I see it differently. To me, the way someone identifies is something that is part of the person (just like their sexuality is part of them). Even though I know not everyone is going to accept my sexuality, I still want/would like them to accept it. And if I want people to accept who I am, I feel like I should be like that towards other people. I feel like respecting the pronouns someone uses is part of accepting who someone is. I should accept others if I want people to accept me, otherwise I personally feel like I would be a hypocrite. I do get what you are saying, but this is the way I see it.

I agree with you with the whole pronoun thing. Addressing a singular person by he/him she/her is part of English language and we naturally associate they/them as being plural. I don't know but maybe 5 non binary people so it's hard to change my vocabulary for such a small amount of people I know (none of which I have a close relationship with) and like u said don't rlly understand what non-binary means... with most transgender ppl I think pronouns are obvious (ex: Trevor from Shameless, Jules from Euphoria) and to address these people by the pronouns they were born with would be confusing so I understand that in this regard.
