Another poor episode. The only saving grace in this story is Sarah played by Aisling. She's unfortunately hampered by the bad writing and dialogue but underneath the surface, there's a good character here who deserves to be in a better episode than this. I don't really see any chemistry between her and Nick, the jokey stuff about Nick and his ex-girlfriends isn't really funny. I cannot stand the Chibnall humour. I don't see any romantic chemistry between 13 and Yaz given that it's hardly been mentioned other than a slight moment in The Haunting of Villa Diodati. It was also very random to have the cran operator from Series 11's first episode return for a cameo only to never encounter 13 or Yaz again. It's just very odd. I don't really find the Daleks threatening here either.

Wow so random I don’t remember that crane operator at all😂 Broadchurch was really good. Chibnall is frustrating. He knows how to write drama but his comedy is hit or miss. And iffy writing combined with mediocre casting is no bueno. I think Jodie Whittaker does really well with what she’s been given with especially since she’s so different than her Broadchurch character. And Aisling proved that Chibnall can write an entertaining character but she definitely elevated what was written on the page unlike the companions. But the companions also aren’t given anything to do so I don’t know. It’s all over the place😩

First off, hope your back is feeling better. Glad you agree that Aisling (Ash-ling) stole the show. The comic timing is a key factor. As well as an actor, Aisling is a writer and stand comedian. So hand and glove, knows her way around dialogue and delivery. So basically exactly the same as John Bishop who plays Dan. But they have mostly underutilised him, making him the slapstick comic relief / occasional wise dude with the advice. Graham 2.0 Mandip just looks out of her depth a lot of the time in such company. If you wanted to check out some of Aisling's other stuff. 2 to consider. •This Way Up (Which she wrote and stars in.) •Living with yourself. (Stars with Paul Rudd) I had 'enough' fun with this one. But I'm basically limboing that lowered bar now. The time they told us about Yaz's feelings for The Doctor WAS this episode. Because telling us is the formula for this show runner. I am starting to wonder how much Tennant and Coleman held up Broadchurch with their performances. He was never this bad was he? No, it is a catalogue of bad decisions that has failed over three series. The guy watching the fireworks at the end was that crane operator from the series 11 premier. The one who kicked 'Tim Shaw'. "I am important!" So basically that guy no one cares about. We haven't seen since and most would have forgotten about. 🤣
