Brooke didn’t force Lucas to date her. She and Peyton both liked him so he was fair game. You said people don’t have a claim or ownership on someone just because they like them: that includes Peyton. Peyton liked him yes, but so did Brooke. Peyton never made a move and even told Brooke to go for it. Nobody can read minds. Lucas was not forced to date Brooke. He made that decision. Yes because he felt rejected by Peyton but he still made the choice. He also made the choice to kiss Peyton while he was still dating Brooke. Peyton chose to kiss him while he was dating her best friend. The only innocent one in this situation is Brooke. It doesn’t matter if she knew her friend liked him. She liked him too. In fact Brooke liked him first and outwardly showed that she liked him. Peyton was still with Nathan at the time she met Lucas so she could say nothing if she had feelings for Lucas. Peyton also showed Lucas contempt at first while Brooke showed her interest. So it can be said that Peyton went after a guy knowing her friend liked him first. Peyton doesn’t get dibs just because she wanted him.

Brooke can say she likes Lucas as much as she wants, in the end, the boy liked Peyton day one and Brooke knew that but for some reason she didn't care and went after him anyway. So lets talk about the girl code : Brooke was the one to start this stupid competition about Lucas (I give you one weekend - or something like that - after that he is fair game). Then there was the party at Dan's house and Brooke asked Peyton to kiss Lucas in front of everyone (digusting behavior btw) to show how she really felt. And she kissed him ! The next day, Peyton even told her what happened between them in the room at the party. People just need to understand that Brooke was not invited in their story but she put herself in the middle because she wanted Lucas badly and was selfish and jealous about it since the beginning. She even tried to sabotage them and get Nathan and Peyton together again. What kind of friend does that ?? Brooke only managed to date him because he and Peyton had this timing issue and he felt rejected by her. Brooke should have pushed Lucas away if she was such a good friend but no she was selfish and stupid and she chose to date a guy who had feelings for her best friend (she knew it !!). She wanted to be the girl who won the guy. She even marked him with a tatoo (it is symbolic) to claim ownership. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't change what happened next. Lucas was wrong to stay with Brooke after Peyton told him how she felt. And they both screwed up. But all this nonesense we can hear or read about Brooke being the victim needs to stop.
