Extended Writing Update
Added 2024-07-08 01:08:44 +0000 UTCThis week had me dragging a little, but I'm happy to say I still got a good amount of editing done. I think the big push to finish the first draft just had a natural consequence of slight burnout, so I'm not worried - I always bounce back quick from that.
I've cleared chapters 1-5, which involved cleaning up the code, checking for general narrative consistency, and most importantly, making sure that the early chapters make sense with the later chapters. I've made a lot of changes over time to the overall plot, what with this being my first game. So I try hard to continuously go back and make sure that everything keeps making sense.
I think the coolest thing about going back to early chapters after so long is realizing that it's better than I thought it was. I'm so harsh on myself sometimes with worrying that my writing isn't up to my standard of quality, and in this case I finally got to read it over and be like "dang this is pretty good!" π It's a good feeling, I gotta say.
I'm hoping to get chapters 6-8 done next week, including filling in the missing pieces for the eventual beta. It's an ambitious goal, given how many side-scenes, dates, and friendship scenes there are - but I'm so ready to get this game out into the world, and to do that I've gotta buckle down and work! Wish me luck~
