A little lore and update for today ~
Added 2024-07-10 15:56:37 +0000 UTCPrepping for the next alpha and soon-to-come beta is going well! I've been working on the dream journal today, which means nailing down the timeline of the game's events more solidly so MC can date each entry. I thought I'd share Leas' seasons with you here :)
---
βοΈ π₯΅ Sun Season (summer, also sometimes called "drought season"). Lasts 60 days. Extremely hot days, warm nights.
In the wilds: Death-aligned fae activity is high (e.g. Omens, small ratlike fae with skulls for heads). Despite this macabre theme, the greatest danger to agents is the heat, not the fae. If proper magical precautions are taken to stay cool, it's a pretty convenient time to work outside the walls.
βπ¦Monsoon Season (monsoon summer). Lasts 75 days. Massive thunderstorms bring relief from the heat, but also danger in the wilds.
In the wilds: Floodwalkers roam the desert, and Den agents leave the city only for emergency missions. No caravans run, and stepping beyond the walls on a cloudy day is considered a death sentence.
π₯ π Flame Season (autumn). Lasts 60 days. Warm-to-hot days and cool, sometimes chilly nights.
In the wilds: The best time to be in the wilds. Creeks are running, forgeable food is plentiful, and while fae activity in the wilds is high, the most dangerous species are more preoccupied with their own business.
π π Night Season (winter). Lasts 75 days. Cooler days, cold nights. Night temperatures dip below freezing only a few times per season.
In the wilds: Fae activity is often strange, with the species that appear only being present at this time of year. Many seem illusion-aligned, fading in and out of sight without clear motive. Agents are warned to be prepared for auditory hallucinations in particular when in the wilds this time of year.
β¨π§ Starfall (winter rainy season). Lasts 25 days. Light, peaceful winter rains that people in Leas often spend time watching from windows or beneath awnings.
In the wilds: Extremely unpredictable experiences, ranging from seeing almost no fae to intense, at times spiritual experiences. Oddly, it is extremely rare for agents to die in the wilds in this season. Even so, some prefer to wait until spring.
βοΈ πΈ Strife Season (spring). Lasts 70 days. Warm and sunny days and cool nights. Wildflower season.
In the wilds: Conditions are similar to Flame season, but the fae encountered are typically more hostile. Den agents exercise caution, but do still venture out of the city.
In ancient history, more battles were fought at this time of year because the most resources were available + climate most tolerable. Teams of humans worked hard on building Leas' walls and buildings, while others defended.
