Extended Writing Update

This week saw me chugging along as usual, and it's continuing to go well! I'm enjoying fleshing out the council a bit - adding in more physical descriptions and adding in a few more choices around MC's experience of both the people there and the institution as a whole. It's kind of a challenge to capture all of that in just a few choices - there's so many ways to view it. In my head, the council is generally a pretty good governing body. But I have to be realistic here about the fact that MC's experience of them at this point (in terms of in-game events, I mean) is that some not-very-nice people come from there and have done some unbelievably crappy things. So like, MC viewing them as incompetent or negligent is more than reasonable.

The RO's views are interesting too. They kind of range pretty widely. Wren has a lot of experience with various cities and thinks quite highly of Leas... especially given that they've been to the Badlands. Which, whew, it's a mess there to say the least. Rin is pretty typically not impressed. They're big on cities, walls, and laws that keep people safe but they're skeptical of pretty much all authority figures. And Keo, well, it's complicated. Painfully complicated, but overall I think Keo just wants to stay as far away from them as possible. We saw a brief bit of that in chapter 2 of book 1, actually, and not much has changed yet in that regard.

On a mechanical level I'm trying to figure out how to consolidate some of the import's code, but I don't think I can without making the player experience really annoying. So more likely than not, in the bin that idea goes >_< The thing is that it takes an obscene number of lines of code to put multiple questions with lots of options on one page/screen. And I think ultimately I'll end up leaving it alone because the most important thing is the experience.

Here's this week's preview ~

"So what's on your docket for today?" I ask, pecking wren_hisHerTheir cheek as I take a piece of saguaro from the platter.
