Extended Writing Update

I spent a lot of time this week working on a family scene for MC, as well as filling in some choice options, and rewrites of a few things. I really got into the zone with the first item and I'm liking how it's shaping up. Which is good news, since the demo's scheduled to release soon!

I have such a push/pull relationship with the "difficult" family scenes, for MCs who have a tense or outright bad relationship with their parent. I love them because something about the scenes really makes me feel something when I've finished writing and read them back again. This one in particular comes with a Lono moment that just breaks my heart in the most bittersweet way. I love it. But also, I really need to take a break from making myself sad every time I finish working on it 😂 It's a feeling that came up when I added in some hints of Nakon's backstory, too. Not that it's a contest, but out of every character in the game they have, by far, the most damage >_< Well, maybe except for one of the ROs. We'll call it a tie. Yay? Anyway, I'm glad I have the option for the positive dynamic because that tends to balance the feeling out.

Fun fact, I came really close to designing the game to force MC to have only one type of family relationship - still giving choices about how to interact with the family, but with a canon backstory of "things were good" or "things were bad." I never favored one over the other, but I did have some reservations about how practical it was to include drastically different options. But in the end I'm so glad I took the risk. I feel the whole story gets a new layer of depth by allowing the player to make that choice.

On a day-in-Jax's-life note, I was able to purchase a nice laptop desk to use in bed, thanks to the income I've made from this patreon! I'm so excited - I've been having a lot of leg pain lately from my laptop resting on my lap for hours, and it's made that a thing of the past! It's making it much easier to focus and write, so thank you guys so much! ❤️❤️
