Cut Out the Middleman, Just Fuck the Wig

AKA Do you guys care about extra outfits?

So, it's a thing I do with my cards where I like to throw on extra costumes that either as some kind of reference to their source material or alts they had in the past. I like doing this because not only to me does it add variety, but also value. Y'know, it's like getting a character with all the DLC costumes/seasonal alts all included in one package. I think it's pretty neat.

With that said, the reality is most of the time the costumes aren't going to be used anyways as let's face it this is a fucking porn game. And last time I checked, I wasn't catering to the clothed sex crowd. (Not to say I got anything against that. If you're into that, more power to ya.) Since making extra costumes take time, I wonder whether y'all think that's worth waiting for or if you don't give a shit at all about that thus making it a waste of time. Hell I'd imagine some of y'all would be totally okay if the card was solely the hair n' body with only a birthday suit.

The options are "Yes on Alts" and "No on Alts". If Yes wins, business continues as normal. If No wins, then the next cards will just be whatever's considered to be the "default" outfit for the card and nothing else. Maybe some very minor things when appropriate but otherwise it's going to be the exact same outfit across all seven outfit states. Not this guarantees cards will come out faster or anything, just that it wouldn't be weighed down with bloat if you want to call it that.

So first things first, I want to know if I should continue making extra outfits or I should stop doing that. And secondly, what y'all would think of, and bare with me here, of an early access system. Now mind you, this early access stuff is more like a beta with all that entails. Meaning that while yes you do get new content earlier, it's also going to be buggy as shit and incomplete to boot. In this case that means the card's face n' body n' hair would be adjusted n' improved, but pretty much everything else will be left the same.

I mean I've had this whole card patches system thing but quickly realized that hardly anyone used it and/or flew under the radar that nobody noticed when shit changed. So, I did away with that. Now I find myself in situations where I fix a card but it's not so substantial (i.e no extra outfits/upgrades in the wardrobe department.) to be considered it's own standalone release. I patch up the egregious shit and then get too lazy to fix up the rest so it ends up collecting dust.

Not sure how I'm going to do the early access thing as it's not like the card was done, just that I needed to post it. The idea is when it's complete, I'd end up unlocking the post for all but that's the thing. I don't know when I'll consider it "finished" because again, I'm lazy. So it might end up being locked for days, weeks, months, or if somehow the game lasts this long, years before I unlock it. Iunno maybe I won't lock it after all and just post the card with no real fanfare to it y'know. Just post a side by side comparison with the card and be done with it.

I mean if you're supporting me with money, I assume you're pretty dedicated at this point so how 'bout this instead eh? I release these beta versions for patrons and they'll give me feedback and what's good n' what's bad. Then eventually once a consensus is reached to make it public, that's when I'll unlock it. Until then, unless you're following me on Patreon and solely on Patreon, you wouldn't know about all of this shit as I won't be making a peep about it elsewhere.

Anyways, the intention is so that patrons get the cards early and those who aren't get the cards in an improved state. I think that sounds pretty okay no?

But baby steps for now. Just gonna put this poll up and see what y'all think before moving on.

This month's been a, a bit crazy for me. A statement that's not hyperbolic enough for me to be comfortable with but uh, things are getting a little better? Kinda? Not sure. I hope I can get something out on February but iunno we'll have to just wait n' see on how that turns out. This trip's quite bumpy so please bare with me as I try to sort shit out.

Til' then, ciao!

Do what works for you and are comfortable with imo. Nothing stopping you from revisiting it later. If you're satisfied with it and want the gym/swimsuit outfits to be gym and swimsuit outfits I think that's 100% fine. Sometimes I'll actually do that thing other than Free-H and Studio everyone seems to hate too. So, it's nice to have that as a thing. I have a habit of actually editing some models where I can't find a few of the accessories (that somehow arent in repack) to be their actual outfit types sometimes. (Gotta love the no skull characters when the hairpiece is a new one you don't have yet).

Yeah I think 3 ish sounds good. Maybe 4. Depends on who it is I suppose but yeah cutting down on the filler outfits (e.g: Any outfit that I included because "ehh *insert incredibly flimsy reason here* ") would be a solid plan. True true. That's the exact response I want to get out of people whenever I make these extra outfits. It's especially jarring when some of the cards that fetch huge prices have like, the default and then they straight up don't touch anything else. So for one outfit the card is fine, but then the rest is just the default outfits + all their hair missing including most of their skull. It's like, y'know, you know you could've just copied pasted the hair at least right? Like, it should like, a minute at most to do so why not? I think most people would like new outfits if it meant new hair styles too no?

I prefer more outfits but tbh do whatever makes you happy and will keep you feeling fulfilled and motivated. That being said, I think there could be a happy middle ground - maybe make 1~3 character-accurate outfits rather than the two extremes. Or make 1~3 accurate outfits and then do the rest just using default clothes / mods and just make something you think the character would wear. Honestly yeah I don't "use" more than maybe 3 outfits per character, but part of the fun of a new card is seeing what outfits it has. Reactions from "ooh, that looks hot" to "heh, that fits so well!" to "oh wow that's really impressive" are some of the best parts of a new card. Even though I'm not likely to use extra outfits, it is always a little disappointing when a character just re-uses the same outfit for everything.
