In my last post, I spoke about how I felt like some of my work lacked emotional resonance, and it was pretty much confirmed by an artist at Valve I got to speak to haha, well at least I know now for sure. I pretty much ran with the 'rule of cool' and pretty much let my technique take focus. I really seek a level of narrative and emotional resonance with my work to simply make it stronger and impactful. Just telling a story, and a story can be as much as an abstract thought or a feeling. There's no formula or teachings on how to inject it into your work, so it took some introspection and digging in the back of my brain, not just to narrative illustration but character design as well.
