Post Erie Comic Con

ECC is over! I didn't do that great in sales.. i surprisingly got a fair amount of sketch commissions though. I had low expectations going into this as this is pretty much my first time tabling if you don't count 2019 when it was actually my first time (I wanted to do more but, covid obvs ensued) and i knew i probably wasn'y going to break even between the cost of the table and printing. Did not help that i had to pay in expedited shipping for some things. that was just poor timing on my part. i tried to wait it out a bit and get some new things done but i realized too late it wasn't really feasible and id just be rushing these particular pieces + stickers + my artbook i was working on. I thought maybe my prices were too high so I lowered them a bit on Sunday but it didn't really help. i thought at least my stickers would do better. i understand i don't have a lot to sell, do kinda niche things, the con itself is small, economy bad, so i can see the factors as to why i probably didn't sell more. Prints def did the worst with only 3 sold. I don't wanna dwell on the not so hot post report too much. No hard feelings, i realize it's not a reflection of the quality of my work. Overall, i had a good time, learned some things, and met some very nice people who complimented my work, and some cool local artists! I'm excited to get back to the drawing board and get some new stuff out for ErieCon on Oct 7th and *hopefully*, Anime NYC in Nov and maybe do a little better.
I handed out free postcards of my OC, Sniper Gal, with my QR code as a pseudo biz card since i was being indecisive about the design of the new ones and wouldn't get them in time, unless i paid extra for shipping! but i just liked the idea of my oc on postcards so i opted for that.
In the next few weeks, I'll be setting up and uploading the current lot of prints to Ko-Fi, as a fellow artist friend and old college classmate told me the benefits of selling their prints on Ko-Fi as opposed to Etsy bc of etsy's pesky and expensive and compounding fees.

Following is a wraith sketch comm i did at the con and some St. Vincent warm up/studies i did at my table.

It's alright! Honestly, that is my problem when it comes to making merch. I am wholly aware of what is popular and trending but I just don't have a desire to make merch of it, or if I do, I miss the window where it would've popped off. Tabling is fun though and I want to do it more. I'm sure a con I'll do well at is out there!

Sorry the sales were kind of a bummer! I’ve been there. It’s tough to know what’s going to be popular and usually it’s that year’s trendy shows/games/movies and never what I want to make merch for (in my experience lol). I hope the next one is better for you! Tabling is fun when you can justify the expenses 😅
