Portrait Practice
Added 2023-10-24 15:09:04 +0000 UTCI always had an deep appreciation for paintings; to name some of my favorite painters, Phil Hale, Ashley Wood, Ferenc Pinter, Seth Campbell, Catherine Kehoe, Adrian Bush... I could go on, but i have a mind palace of specific paintings i wanted to emulate in my own work. I wanted to paint more and have a few ideas i thought would look better as a painting than a drawing, but i was always scared of it and feared failure, I also thought i was extremely impatient when it came to painting and didnt think i could make it through.. I started this portrait a few weeks ago and had not touched it for a while, until i watched this interview with Dave Rapoza, a longtime favorite artist of mine. I won't get into it too much, but I was inspired and motivated to come back to it after I watched the interview. i recommend you give it a watch! Several hours later, i began to see something i really liked and was proud of the result and became excited about painting again and saw it as something i could do more. Right now, i feel my paintings are a little too tight, i do want to loosen up over time and paint the way i draw so to speak.
