DL-D0 wasn't built by StarCommand. No one really knows where she's from. Her head was found by Kateway in a dump on a planet that was in ruins.
Her body was built by StarCommand Engineers, but no one truly knows how her brain works.
Every few days, her body needs to recharge its energy and sync its data, and she does that through her posterior access port (think of it as a very fancy USB port), which is located in a place humans would call a "butthole".
