We need to talk about Maria

In the first installment of character profiles I'm going to give some insight into one of my early creations; Maria.

Maria first appeared in "Tara Part Two : The Hotel". She was working on the reception at the Moorcock Inn. Originally just designed as an attractive young redhead to decorate the background, I liked her enough to develop a personality and back story.  

Long time followers of my game will know that she is revealed as the cousin of vdategames fan favourite 'Maddison'.  

When creating the 3D model I actually used the same skin texture maps for her Maria model as those used for Maddison. 

Early on in our working relationship, Chaotic from vdategames was kind enough to share a list of assets required to allow me to build a Maddison model. It was from this that I created my own replica of Maddison as well as her cousin Maria.  

The technical and aesthetic link became a conceptual link and Maria came into existence.  

Maria's story arc is a complex one. An ongoing personality trait is a slight neediness and insecurity. She is impulsive and always desires to have what she can't have. 

In Tara 2, she wanted to find out why Maddison is still so attracted to you, the Player Character. She does despite the risk to her relationship with Maddison. 

Then in Tara 3, she wanted to reassert herself as desirable to the PC whilst surrounded by competition. She goes as far as introducing Holly as a part of her life she was willing to share as her erotic partner.  

During the Academy series, her on and off relationship with Holly is a source of some tension. Of course she still desperately needs attention from the PC to quell her insecurities. She takes plenty of risks throughout the series and doesn't ever really seem to grasp the potential consequences.  

Maria turning up at your door to tempt you away from your work is a recurring theme.

She can also appear along with Holly during the earlier stages of your date with Bridgette during episode six. As with many aspects of my games, meeting them can have a profound effect on the outcome of your date.

Maria's tangled love life is still a little complicated and her story remains unresolved at present. Even I'm not sure where her journey will take her.

Her reckless attitude and obvious attraction to the PC is something that can be taken advantage of. But to what end? Maybe she is the one getting what she wants? 

You do get to influence how her relationship with Holly can develop and things can appear to settle down for Maria as the series progresses. Her attention tends to shift away from the player character in the later episodes but she could turn up to see you at any point...

.There is definitely more left to tell in Maria's story.
