I Turned My Life Into A Chuunige VN 04

Everybody had limits. Lines they wouldn't cross.

And that did not apply only to morality, it applied to everything in life really. Someone who enjoyed exotic food might draw the line at eating spiders. Someone who enjoyed kinky stuff might not want to involve their ass with such activities. And Shinsuke Yamaguchi...

Shinsuke Yamaguchi was unwilling to enter in a creepy dark forest during the night, even for his newest heroine. "Yeah... let's not go there..."

"Hah?" Illyasviel was genuinely surprised at his hesitance. "Why? We have to go through it to get to the castle."

Maybe she just didn't understand danger like a normal human? She was a homunculus after all, even if there was half-human there too. Not to mention how she had Heracles, a safety blanket greater than anything else in Fuyuki.

Or it was just a case where someone going back on their word was unacceptable no matter the circumstances for Illyasviel Von Einzbern. If you said you would do something, it was only common sense to then do that something.

Well, most likely... it was both.

And both of those reasons could not be so easily understood by Shinsuke Yamaguchi. "Yeah, that's great and all, but... Illyasviel..." How was he supposed to put this. "I came here to protect you and bring you safely home, correct?"

"Yes...?"

"Well, Illya. If I happened to stumble onto a bear in the middle of the night, I wouldn't protect you. I would just get mauled to death. Tohsaka would then get mauled to death. And then you would get mauled to death." Bad ends all around.

Should he really be saying this to a child though?

Ugh, he had already made that child his child bride, essentially.

Entering a dark scary forest might cross a line when it cames to his survival insticts, but making a little girl his did not. Except it actually did for a second, Shinsuke Yamaguchi was just exceptional at crossing moral lines. A bad trait to have, probably.

"Okay, go and get mauled then." This homunculus had no mercy. If the bear didn't do it, then Heracles would.

Shinsuke trembled. "But..." He sent a pleading look towards Rin.

And Rin Tohsaka did not know what to say. At first she was going to say something sarcastic, but she couldn't exactly get mad at her classmate for trying to protect what he thought was a innocent child, even if he was being mislead about it. Then, she thought about supporting him, but what if Illyasviel then decided to turn her head into a paste...?

Ugh, her head was at a constant risk of being turned into a paste anyways, she might as well risk it for the biscuit. "Well, this hypothetic bear aside, this trip really is taking super long, and now it's apparently gonna take longer."

She put a hand on her chin. "Illyasviel, Yamaguchi and I have a group project we need to work on, or have you forgotten that?"

"I haven't, but..." Illya clicked her tongue. "You two said I would be brought home. I held your two's hands. Are you going back on your word now...?" At this point it had become a matter of pride for the girl.

Illyasviel was lonely. So lonely that if these two strangers who she had been secretly threatening the entire time left her, she would see it as a betrayal. It was also a matter of control. She had Berserker. Rin had to obey her.

Shinsuke was frozen in place. Why did he suddenly feel like this was important?

The answer was that his human insticts were telling him that this small child was about to murder him if he made the wrong move, of course. But sadly for those instincts, common sense made it difficult to imagine a small child having Heracles as its personal slave.

So instead of all that nonsense, Shinsuke Yamaguchi chalked it up to him realizing this was a important moment in the recently unlocked Illyasviel Von Einzbern route. A moment where he would either gain or lose her trust.

Which he meant he had to come up with a solution that did not involve getting eaten by a bear.

"I'm not going back on my word. But how about instead of this we—"

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Rin Tohsaka hated Shinsuke Yamaguchi. Rin Tohsaka despised Shinsuke Yamaguchi. Rin Tohsaka loathed Shinsuke Yamaguchi. With every fiber of her being she promised to one day make him regret his foolish actions.

Those foolish actions of course being... dragging an enemy master to her house. And she couldn't even say no.

So right now, she and Shinsuke were sitting on a sofa doing that damned group project while Illyasviel kept giggling to herself like some psychopath. Enjoying every moment of this.

Rin couldn't help it, she leaned forward and whispered on his ear. "Why did it have to be my house...?"

"Because you said it made you feel more comfortable." Her previous words had come back to bite her. "Besides, your house was the closest and we were running out of time." Indeed.

They had arrived at the Tohsaka manor at midnight. Far later than originally planned. So right now they were rushing their group project so they could go to sleep already. This, of course, meant that Shinsuke Yamaguchi would be sleeping in Rin Tohsaka's mansion.

It also meant that Illyasviel would be sleeping in Rin's mansion, close to her workshop. What a nightmare.

Shinsuke did think about Illyasviel's maids or whatever getting worried, but seeing as they wanted her to cross a dark forest to get back home, he decided that they could fuck themselves. He did feel bad about not even being able to call them, but it wasn't his fault that they didn't even have a phone.

And so, those were the circumstances that lead Tokiomi Tohsaka to roll in his grave. The possibility of him coming back as a vengeful ghost were becoming stronger by the minute.

Still, in some way... Shinsuke and Rin kind of became comfortable. Illyasviel surprisingly had enough respect to let them work without constant interruption.

Maybe because being in Rin's home and watching the girl silently freak out was enough to bring her adequate, sadistic entertainment?

Nonetheless, Shinsuke had to ruin things. "By the way, Tohsaka. Where are your parents?" He had yet to see what he expected to be rich bastards.

Rin really did live in a mansion, and a western style one at that. Which while not quite as impressive as a castle, was still pretty crazy.

"My parents... passed away a few years ago." Ah.

You know, this was the second time today that a heroine he chose confessed to being an orphan. Wasn't Rin supposed to be a simple and easy heroine!? Where was this mess coming from damn it!?

Though then again, the fact that she seemed so well despite the hardship of losing her parents just showed how much of a easy and simple heroine she truly was.

She continued. "I do have a guardian, but I typically avoid him. He's kind of..." She wondered if she should even tell this to a classmate. "Kind of a douche. Though not enough to where I hate him or anything."

Illyasviel chose this moment to interject. "The priest huh?" She looked at Rin's current shirt. "Is he the cause of your shirt containing a cross?" Typically mages didn't really get along with the Holy Church, so it made her curious.

"Um? Not really. It's just my style." And it wasn't even something Kirei had brought for her. One could see because it actually looked good.

Kirei Kotomine had horrible taste. Rin truly believed that.

Illyasviel certainly didn't expect such... an attitude from a magus. "Oh." Though what was she expecting really? Rin was some super duper incompetent idiot who hadn't even summoned a Servant yet.

This all made Rin think of something though. It wasn't something she would typically question someone about, especially since if she was being honest, she didn't care, but at the same time, this was kind of revenge.

"And what about you, Yamaguchi? How's your parents?" Even if she claimed it was for revenge however, there was no malice on her voice.

"My parents? They're fine, I guess." Such an awkward thing to tell an orphan. "You could say they're a little hands free, but I appreciate that. I tend to be pretty independent anyways."

Hands free enough that they were okay with Shinsuke suddenly calling them and saying he had a group project to do at a friends house, and then later one calling again and saying he would be staying in that friends house for the night.

Rin smiled. "They sound nice." At this point she considered the awkward feeling she created as enough revenge, so she went back to work.

Now that they had started talking though, there was one issue Shinsuke wanted to address. "By the way, maybe we should put Illya to bed?"

"Huh?" The little girl raised an eyebrow, confused.

But it was pretty simple really. It was super late, and kids shouldn't stay up for that long. There was really no big excuse needed. Shinsuke Yamaguchi had to look for the health of his future wife!

Though of course, considering Illyasviel Von Einzbern was actually older than Shinsuke himself, his good intentions were misguided to say the least. But hey, even having good intentions was already a positive for lowly scum such as him.

"No huing me, it's definitely past your bedtime." Surely even rich orphans had those. "Hey Tohsaka, where can she stay—?"

"You don't get to choose when I go to sleep." Illyasviel glared at him. "I'm not feeling tired."

She knew she sounded like a brat, but it was the truth. Not only was she a homunculus who could stay awake longer than a normal human, she had also been preparing to stay awake during the night. That was when the Holy Grail War was fought, after all.

"Too bad!" Shinsuke got up from the sofa, trying to sound stern. "I'm afraid you will have to retire for the night, Illya."

"..." For a second she thought about killing him, but in the end she just huffed. "This has all been super boring anyways. I can't believe Tohsaka doesn't even have a TV." Illya herself didn't have a TV of course.

Honestly, she kind of wished the duo had taken her to Shinsuke's house instead. Here she had the privilege of spooking Rin with how close she was to her workshop, but it was still kind of a boring house. A house one would expect from a magus. Shinsuke was bound to have more interesting things in his house.

She couldn't do anything about it though, but she could stop wasting time. So once she was put to bed she would leave and then go hunt for a master or something. Maybe torture her brother to alleviate the frustration.

Rin sighed. "I don't really handle technology well." Why was she even making excuses to the brat? "Anyways, I guess you can sleep on my room for tonight."

It might seem unwise to let an enemy into her room, but she had already been been forced into letting an enemy into her house anyways. So she would pick the lesser of the two evils, which in this case was not letting Illyasviel into what used to be her parent's rooms.

Naturally, this meant... "And I'll be staying in the room that used to belong to my parents." It was a bit dusty, but she could handle it. "As for Yamaguchi..." She could give him Sakura's old room. The bed was small, but he would just have to take it.

And yet, for some reason she hesitated.

Something which Shinsuke noticed, giving his own solution. "I can just sleep on one of the sofas, I don't mind." Though sleeping with one of them was definitely the better outcome!

He doubted he was close enough with Rin for that though. But then again, did it really matter when she was destined to be with him? Probably, so he should keep his mouth shut—

"Though of course, I'm willing to share a room with you, Tohsaka." As usual, he wasn't the best at controlling himself.

"Hah—!" For a moment she actually got caught by surprise, however, she quickly recomposed herself. "Hilarious, Yamaguchi. Maybe you want Illyasviel to join you too?"

It was only natural she took his comment as a joke. Though she didn't expect Yamaguchi to be the type who made such jokes in the first place. But then again, she barely knew Shinsuke Yamaguchi in the first place.

But that was slowly changing.

For Rin Tohsaka, who only really talked with Ayako Mitsuzuri, this whole experience was— Where the hell had her mind gone to!? There was an enemy master in her house! She couldn't let her guard down, specially since she knew that was probably something Illyasviel would like to see!

Shinsuke chuckled. "Maybe someday." It would definitely happen someday!

These girls didn't know, but neither Illyasviel and her Servant, nor Rin Tohsaka, were in control of this situation! It was all in the hands of Shinsuke Yamaguchi!

Or at least that's what he told himself, but he didn't know about the Servant in the first place.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Shinsuke woke up feeling surprisingly refreshed.

Apparently a expensive sofa could even match his bed when it came to sleeping quality. Something that he was relieved about, going to school with back pain would suck after all. Still, it also showed how completely in a different level Rin Tohsaka was from his own.

As if the mansion wasn't already enough evidence of that.

"You're finally up, Yamaguchi. Good morning." He was greeted by Rin... who sounded kind of out of it.

And that was because she was out of it. Rin Tohsaka didn't deal well with mornings, and yesterday had been more stressful than usual and had caused her to sleep horribly. Right now she felt like a Dead Apostle.

But differently from a Dead Apostle, she was actually alive. A miracle that even the Holy Grail would struggle to grant.

"Good morning." Shinsuke waved at her as he got up. "Is Illya up yet?" Now that the sun had risen, maybe he could actually get her home.

It would be a pain though, and a forest was still scary during the day to a certain extent. Not to mention how it was so far away that he might miss the first period of school. Alas, he couldn't exactly kidnap Illyasviel.

"She isn't just up, she already left." A thing Rin Tohsaka was most grateful for.

What she wasn't grateful for was how she was gonna have to waste hours of her time making sure there weren't any magical traps set on her own room. Or her house in general.

Shinsuke frowned. "Seriously? That girl..." There wasn't much he could do but hope she got home safe now, though.

"Forget about it, Yamaguchi." Rin certainly knew she would...

No, that wasn't true. She would remember Illyasviel, but only so she could get sweet revenge once the time came. Today, even if she didn't manage perfection, she would summon her Servant and join the Holy Grail War!

After a moment of hesitation, Shinsuke. "You're right." He would forget about her.

At least until the universe reminded him. He was now locked on the Illya route anyways, so there was no meaning in getting anxious about it. If she encountered some kind of danger, he would face it with her.

Hopefully that danger wouldn't be a bear. As previously said, he would get mauled!

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Upon entering school, he found something much weaker than a bear, and yet much more violatile as well.

That something was Shinji Matou, of course. "Tohsaka...? Yamaguchi...?" The seaweed was staring in shock as the two arrived on school grounds.

Probably because they had arrived together. Something which would undoubtedly feed the school's rumor mills for weeks, but was fairly innocent. Rin Tohsaka and Shinsuke Yamaguchi weren't the type that would consciously leave at different times to avoid rumors. That was all really.

They probably could have just ignored him and kept on walking, really. There was no need to provoke him.

But Shinsuke couldn't resist the opportunity. "Yo Sakura!" He didn't wave at Shinji however, he waved at his sister. "Good morning."

She wasn't exactly close to Shinji though, instead she had been walking with who Shinsuke was fairly sure was the Fake Janitor of Homuraha, Shirou Emiya.

For a moment, Sakura stopped for a bit, as if considering whether she should answer or not. Thankfully, she did. "Good morning, Yamaguchi-Senpai!" It felt heavenly.

Shinsuke Yamaguchi had never thought he would experience such a powerful thing like a junior waving him good morning...!

Well, a cute junior, at least.

And that was that. Sakura afterwards noticed Rin and after a quick eep, kept going on her way. Although the Fake Janitor had immediately started asking questions about who this Yamaguchi-Senpai was.

Shinji became red in the face, Shinsuke's taunt more or less working. But he had learned his lesson from last time, so instead of confronting him, he simply walked away.

Rin, who had been watching this whole debacle, had to hold back a snort. "I didn't know you were a devil, Yamaguchi." First his tease the other night, and now this.

She wouldn't get too mad though, since it was Shinji and all. Not to mention how she approved of Sakura Matou making as many friends as possible.

"Devil? I didn't do anything though." Shinsuke faked ignorance, but there was some truth to what he said.

Shinji was a strange guy if someone waving at his sister was enough to piss him off. Not that Shinsuke could really talk shit about it when a hobbie of his was literally praying for a girlfriend. Not to mention what he did once his wishes were granted.

"Whatever you say..." Rin sighed. "But don't make him too mad. Who knows what Shinji will do." He might try to hurt him again.

Shinsuke nodded. "I'll keep that in mind." He wasn't too scared though.

What was the worse Shinji could do? Assassinate him socially? As if Shinsuke would care when he had a harem!

AN: Writing this chapter felt super hard for some reason, and I rewrote it a bunch of times. Well, things should get easier next chapter, since the Chuuni part of the fic should finally kick-in. Slow chapters are important and all that, but man I wanna write people punching each other damn it!!!!

Speaking of the next chapter, normally its release would have meant this fic finally catching up to the early chapters stuff and getting the thread, but I've been thinking of actually releasing another one and putting it behind a new Patreon Tier.

Mostly because back when I was writing FE Protagonist, someone made a comment about how the tiers going from 2$ to 10$ felt weird. I figured this is a neat opportunity to fix that and make the legendarily non-legendary 5$ tier.

Well, I could also like... make a discord for it or something, but I'm gonna be honest, that sounds like a nightmare. I'm not a fan of discord at all.

All that aside, I can't believe they made Dangai Ichigo's major mechanic in the new Bleach game be aura farming. I love it.
