I'm The Son Of Lucifer 08

Yukino Yukinoshita didn't know what to think anymore.

For the first time in forever, she felt... strangely good. She was still thirsty of course, one water bottle wasn't enough and without a doubt many hours had passed since Fuyuki last came to visit, she was also super hungry, but at least she had managed to have a full night's sleep.

Those pills were really useful.

Now that her brain was working back at full capacity again however, it was time to adress the elephant in the room. "Miura, we need to talk." Communication between the two of them had pretty much broke down over the last few days.

Not only because they had a fight, but also because they were genuinely too thirsty and stressed to waste energy doing that. It was far better to conserve it.

The blonde glared at her. "About what?" It seems she was mad at her for some inexplicable reason.

Well, Yukino had no intention of wasting precious energy figuring out how a dumb monkey thought. Yumiko Miura was without a doubt the dumbest, most selfish person she had ever met after all. She almost felt bad for scumbag Hayato, Scumyato.

As one could tell, the lack of food was affecting her mood.

"About what we do from here." She crossed her arms. "Fuyuki could return at any moment... and so we need to figure out how we are supposed to act from now on." If he returned.

He would, right?

He said she was special.

He picked her.

Even though she isn't the heir of the Yukinoshita's. Even though she isn't Haruno Yukinoshita. She was chosen.

No, she shouldn't feel bad about that. It was horrible, horrible luck... Not that she wished her sister or mother would have gone through this instead of course. When thinking about how she had taken the burnt for them, maybe this was good luck after all.

Yumiko rolled her eyes. "Are you stupid? I'm not gonna talk about that whent the bastard is watching." She clicked her tongue. "It goes without saying, but I have no reason to follow what he says."

Yukino smiled. She really was unbelievably stupid. "Big words for someone who was so passionately kissing him before." This was going to well...

She knew that she was being watched of course, but... wasn't that a great opportunity to gain favor with Fuyuki? She could easily expose Yumiko for the bitch she was, while also getting into his good graces like a good princess.

She just had to act like she liked him, like she appreciated his compliments... and then maybe an opportunity would present itself. Yeah, she just had to act.

Yumiko blushed. "I just didn't want him to get mad because we technically didn't complete the job, okay!?" She looked away. "Besides, a kiss isn't anything important! I kissed plenty of guys before, and I'm sure that's the same for you!"

Now it was Yukino's turn to blush. "A-actually... I never kissed anyone before, so I guess I'll give Fuyuki my first kiss..." That was embarassing to admit, but he would probably like it, right?

Yumiko gasped. "Fo real...? That's kind of funny!" She chuckled to herself. "Though I guess you basically never talk with anyone besides Hikio and Yui anyways."

Yukino glared at her. "I could have kissed Hayato if I wanted." It immediately got her Yumiko's anger. "But in the end it will be with Fuyuki... if he wants me." He picked her... he wanted her.

The blonde's eye twitched. "Are you picking a fight!?" Yes.

But that wasn't the only thing she was doing, not that the dumb ape would realize that with her sorry excuse for a brain. She had heard Fuyuki talk about Hayato back when he was giving water to Yumiko, about how he wouldn't give her to the handsome boy.

And now Yukino was essentially saying that she was his, and not Hayato, even though she could have had him. Though she admittedly did not know whether Fuyuki was aware that she shared history with Hayato or not.

Yukino rolled her eyes. "I'm not picking a fight. I'm just saying the truth." It probably wasn't the truth, actually.

While they did have history together, and the school had spread rumors about them being lovers, Hayato didn't care much for her. He had shown that when he abandoned her during middle school.

Yumiko grit her teeth. "Shut up! Don't bring Hayato into this!" As usual, the lioness had to protect her pack, even in a case like this. Especially when Hayato was the lion she wanted to... erm... mate with.

Yukino raised an eyebrow. "Why not? It's not like I said anything bad about him." She hadn't said he was bad or anything, she just said she would pick Fuyuki over him.

She would shit talk Hayato if necessary of course, and it probably would be necessary, but she didn't hate him or anything, even though he had betrayed her. She was just indifferent towards him, and well... Fuyuki was also the better ma—. No, he wasn't. Hayato was a coward, but at least he wasn't a kidnapper.

Fuyuki wasn't better than him. He wasn't.

Yumiko clenched her fists. "You..." That's right, she technically hadn't said anything awful about Hayato.

Then why did she feel so damn pissed off?

Oh, because Yukino was acting like the damn privileged little bitch she always was. From where the hell did she get the dumbass idea that she could just have Hayato at anytime? Hell, even Fuyuki...!

She was acting like she had actually put effort in those things, but it was always Yumiko who did the heavy lifting. She put on make-up every damn day to look pretty, she took care of Hayato every damn time he scrapped his knee while playing football, she kept his social circle together... and yet all Yukino had to do was being born pretty and Hayato liked her more.

It was the same damn thing with Fuyuki. Yumiko was the one who pushed her dying body with all her willpower to kiss his little stalker lips, and yet Yukino was here acting like he cared about her just because she was born pretty.

Damn bitch stealing her crush, and now stealing her boyfriend.

The lioness marched close to her, and with strength that her body really shouldn't have, pulled her by the collar. "Listen here, Yukinoshita...!" Now where did she begin? Well, she was gonna for sure teach her a lesson she wouldn't forget.

"H-huh...?" Yukino was scared. She didn't think Yumiko would immediately resort to violence, she had thought that even her wouldn't steep that low.

Not even Fuyuki had resorted to violence.

But before things could escalate, the door of the room suddenly appeared. Fuyuki walked in with a beautiful smile on his face, and a bag on his shoulders.

Yukino felt her heart beat faster. S-she was scared of Yumiko of course, as any normal person would be.

"Hello everyone! I see things are going... not swimmingly between the two of you." He sighed. "I know these sorts of things are bound to happen in a polygamous relationship like ours, but please be aware that violence is a big no-no."

Yumiko immediately released her. "I-I wasn't..." Her face at first became pale... and then it went back to red. "Whatever!" She huffed and looked away, like the petulant little child she was.

Yukino let out a sigh of relief. She wasn't scared of taking a punch, but knowing the chimp she would definitely keep escalating. "Fuyuki... Thank you." She had to show her gratitude towards him... since she needed to fake being affectionate.

He quickly waved her off. "Don't worry, don't worry." And then he began approaching the two.

With one quick move he pulled her into a hug. Yukino gasped. "Ah...!" It couldn't be helped, he surprised her... It was a really tight hug.

He leaned over, whispering in her ears. "So, you never kissed anyone before? That's surprising." It really wasn't. Fuyuki knew she was a big loner with almost zero friends. Not that he could talk, Yumiko stole his first kiss.

She stuttered. "U-um... Is that bad...?" Was he about to take her lips...?

"Of course it isn't bad Yukino, though it isn't good either. It's well... neutral." Ah. "I have to admit though, I find it very cute." Ah! "Though at this point I shouldn't be surprised, everything about you is cute." Ah...!

Yukino was melting down. Possibly of embarrassment. She wanted to call him a complete and utter pervert, to push him away and try to escape the room.

But she had to act. "Guuuh... that makes me really happy..." Thankfully those words left her mouth surprisingly quickly.

And then she began hearing someone tapping their feet... It was Yumiko. For all her previous tough talk, she was begging for attention like a pathetic animal in heat.

Fuyuki laughed. "Man, you two are just adorable!" With surprising speed, he pulled Yumiko in, turning this into a group hug.

Yumiko scowled. "Just what do you think you're doing!?" For once Yukino agreed with her. She did not want to be close to such a violent woman!

He chuckled, and ended the hug. "My bad, my bad... I just wanted to have a nice time with you guys. It might be the last, after all." Yukino's heart immediately froze.

The last?

Did she do something wrong?

He told her she was special.

Did he li—."

"I might die soon, after all." He scratched his cheek. "The truth is that recently I got into a scuffle involving people like me... There's this girl who they are targetting, so I'm trying to help her." H-he was trying to help people...?

He continued. "By the way, this may be a strange question, but have you two heard of Mai Sakurajima?" He was testing something. According to the position of their house, they should have forgotten her...

Yumiko raised an eyebrow. "Um... the name seems familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on it..." Her eyes suddenly widened. "Oh yeah, she's that actress who entered into a hiatus after middle school!"

Yukino nodded. "Yes, her movies made quite the cultural impact on our movie industry." Which was unbelievably impressive, since she was a child actor.

Fuyuki put a hand to his chin. "So you guys do remember..." Probably because he snatched them and put them in here before the curse reached them.

He kidnapped Yukino on a Wednesday. Which meant at least at that point the curse had yet to spread to her area... if it had even started.

Well, it didn't matter much. "Anyways, here's a gift for you two. I did say relationships can't only be give and take, and I have been taking a lot..." He opened the bag, and carelessly reversed it so that it's contents would fall to the ground.

It was a bunch of water bottles. Nothing insane... And yet for Yukinoshita, it felt like she was seeing someone drop countless jewels to the ground. She had learned the value of water, that was for sure.

Fuyuki grinned. "That should make things easier for you two... So now I'll be leaving. Oh, and if I die, don't worry, I asked an acquaintance of mine to free you two in such a scenario." That acquaintance was Satan, of course.

He had asked the demon to free them in case he died during the Mai Sakurajima case, and thankfully his mentor agreed. Fuyuki could have let them rot here of course, but he decided that at the end he would prefer if Yukino and Yumiko got to live their lives. He wasn't petty enough to let them die for his own failure.

He frowned. "Though I guess you guys are now cheering for my death, huh...?" That frown was fake of course. The truth is that this whole death talk was also a bonding exercise.

It wouldn't have worked before, but...

Now he was part of Yumiko Miura's pack. "Hey dumbass, don't think I'll forgive you if you die!" Her outburst surprised even herself. Hadn't she tried stabbing him a few days ago!?

Fuyuki tilted his head. "Hah...? Are you worried about me Yumiko? My heart is beating so fast!" It wasn't even a lie. He could appreciate a good tsundere.

Her expression was filled with rage. "Don't misunderstand me...! It's not that I care about you!" But slowly that expression began to soften up. "But... you should pay for your sins in jail. Yeah, when I get out, you're gonna answer to your crimes." Funny words coming from the girl who tried to kill him.

The truth was obvious, the death of Fuyuki Fujiwara was no longer something she could accept.

He snorted. "I see... Thank you for your words. They give me strength!" And he meant that genuinely. Without a doubt he would have a lot more motivation to return home now.

Ah... weren't kidnapped girls just the cutest?

Yukino stepped forward. "Then allow me to give you strength as well." She had let Yumiko take the lead far too many times... and it wasn't always just Yumiko either.

Back in the Service Club, she would always just let Yui do as she pleased as well, instead of making her own move on Hikigaya. It was a flaw of hers, something that she needed to fix if she wanted to survive this.

And so she took a deep breath. "Come back alive. You can't die without... without kissing me..." She was just acting, of course. If Fuyuki died, good. If he didn't, she got tons of points towards becoming the favorite.

"Well, I could just kiss you right now." She... hadn't thought of that. "But naturally, since Yukino is the one who gave me a job this time, I'll work hard for her first kiss." Geez, why did he always scare her like that!?

She hated all bastards who enjoyed teasing. That was something she was now sure of.

He sheepishly raised a hand. "By the way... I have to clarify a misconception." Oh? "I'm not gonna go into a life or death battle literally today. It's just something that could happen."

Yumiko put both of the girl's feelings into one word. "Die."

Fuyuki faked being wounded, grasping his chest. "Ah! With a sudden cruel attack like that, I just might!" He sighed. "Jokes aside though, it's time for me to leave... school awaits. Be back soon." Huh, she had kind of forgotten that existed.

It was hard to worry about school while stuck here... she was slowly forgetting all about it. It also didn't help that it was hard to tell the passage of time while constantly stuck in a dark room.

Yukino smiled. "I'll be waiting for your return." It couldn't be helped, after all... he always brought a bit of warm light to the cold and cruel darkness of this place with his visits.

Yumiko glared at her. "I just know you're thinking something dumb and pretentious right now."

Without a doubt they were made to be rivals.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

"Good morning, Senpai. Did you have a nice weekend?"

"Good morning, Fujiwara. My weekend was pretty awful, I keel getting forgotten by people, and a younger man is blackmailing me so he can date some third-rate actress who peaked as a child." Wow, that is indeed an awful weekend.

Fuyuki frowned. "I see, you have my sympathies Senpai. However, please be aware that even if you may be suffering, that is no excuse to steal an uniform of my school and show up here, okay?"

That's right, Mai was wearing his school uniform. It was certainly a breath taking sight, but he felt bad for the poor third year who had definitely gotten her uniform stolen by this invisible delinquent of an actress.

Mai tilted her head. "Um? I did not steal this uniform you know. I attend this school... I could have skipped of course, but some students still recognize me, or at least they did back on Friday." That was weird.

Fuyuki raised an eyebrow. "People still remember you? That is quite strange. I haven't told you this yet, but this was actually the first area where you have been forgotten... probably." At least according to his tests.

She nodded. "Makes sense, this is a place I frequent a lot. I imagine the reason some people here still remember me is because a school possess many people from many different areas. Some of these areas have yet to be reached by the curse." That made sense.

But it was also immensely strange. It meant the curse really was acting like a... well... a curse. It spread evenly across the town, only affecting people once it reached... their houses? That was way too strange right?

A virus however, would infect people and they would carry it to others. In that case, the entire school should have forgotten about Mai, even if they didn't live in the same place. Clearly it didn't work like that, however.

Fuyuki hummed. "I'll keep that in mind, but seriously though, why do you frequent this place?"

She glared at him. "Because I'm your Senpai. This is the school I attend."

That couldn't be right... but maybe... "So I'm guessing you recently joined the school? I hope it has been treating you well." It was alright. It had some jerks, but it was filled with cute girls at least!

Her anger dissipated, replaced with confusion. "Why are you acting like this? I have been on this school ever since the first year." He was acting like this because such a thing should be impossible.

How had he not heard about Mai Sakurajima attending his own school? That should be something every single guy constantly talked about, she should have been a super popular queen bee. And sure, Fuyuki didn't interact much with his classmates, which meant that he missed on most of the rumors, but he had heard of the big shots like Yukino.

Mai should have been a much bigger shot than Yukino.

And speaking of his kidnapped toy, neither she nor Yumiko had shown any signs of recognizing Mai as a senpai of theirs. While that was acceptable for Yukino who probably didn't care about the school rumor mill, Yumiko should have definitely known.

Fuyuki sighed. "What the hell is going on here...?" If he had known he shared a school with Mai he would have kidnapped her too, damn it! She was just his type!

Before she lost her fame at least.

Mai pouted. "Sorry, but have I missed something?" Why was she acting like this was normal?

He pinched his nose. "No... don't worry about it." He had a theory.

Maybe Mai was such a fucking loser loner that somehow her existence just never got spread. Especially since she was in a hiatus, which meant the school wouldn't necessarily announce her presence to look better.

"Leaving that aside, now that we know the problem is found around this school, be careful." Ugh, he would somehow have to find whatever damn student was behind this.

"Of course. Though it's not like they have targetting with actual violence so far." She gazed at a black car. "By the way, do you think my case is related to those kidnapped girls?" Ah, so she had heard about that.

He followed her gaze. "Probably not, everyone still remembers them after all." And now that he had done so, he noticed something strange.

There wasn't just one black car... there were three. Three identical cars, all next to each other... and as he focused on it more and more it almost felt like... someone was watching him.

His Senpai interjected. "Those are probably police." She noticed his curiosity. "Or maybe some private investigators. That Yukinoshita girl was rich, right."

"Yep." He didn't think they would have gone that far... "Anyways, meet me at lunch okay? So we can start searching around the school." He had an idea on how to find the criminal.

"Okay, but if we do find him... what do you plan on doing?" A good question.

"I plan on killing him. My teacher said that usually works as a way to remove someone's abilities... And well, as for how... I did sneak a pocket knife into school." He pat his schoolbag.

It was a dangerous thing to do when cops were around, but it couldn't be helped.

She imitated him. "Oh? I also did that. I would say great minds think a like, bu—." He cut her off.

Wasn't she too okay with this? "You for real did it!? I thought for sure I would have you arguing on my ear why murder was super wrong." He had the impression that she was a good little girl who followed the rules.

After all, as far as he knew she hadn't really committed any crimes. Even though she could get away with anything right now.

She shrugged. "Murder is wrong... but this is not murder. This is self-defense. Our enemy is undoubtedly either trying to kill me, or to ruin my life." That was... fair enough. "That said, please remember that we should try scouting first. Instead of killing them on school grounds, we should plan something more... subtle instead."

"I can agree on that." He did not want to get caught for murder.

"Senpai!" A new voice suddenly cut through their conversation.

Almost due to instinct, he tensed his body, expecting someone to have recognized Mai... but no. A kouhai came up and gave him a happy slap on the back.

That kouhai was of course, his girlfriend. "Did you have good weekend, Senpai?" Iroha looked pretty energetic, even though it was Monday. Truly a rare specimen amongst students.

He smiled at her. "It was pretty great, since my girlfriend pampered me a lot with messages." She blushed... it was okay though, she should feel embarassed for spending so much time in her phone! "By the way, what happened to the whole big brother thing?"

She looked away. "Well... it would be... weird, you know?" He got it. He would miss it, but Iroha was definitely the type of girl who didn't want rumors going around.

He chuckled, trying to end the awkwardness in the air. "I get ya. So, reversing your question, how was your weekend?" Probably filled with cat videos or something.

Funnily enough, the first person to respond wasn't Iroha. It was Mai. "Who cares? Just go to school already, Fujiwara." Ah, his Senpai seemed frustrated by the sudden interruption. It couldn't be helped though, Iroha was literally not seeing her.

Iroha's eyes gained a shine to them. She sure loved talking about herself. "It was great! My Senpai took me to this great date on Saturday, even though another senpai kept hanging around like a poor fly." Poor Hikigaya...

Mai glared at Iroha. "So that is your girlfriend... the poor girl who you are manipulating and planning to dump at the drop of a hat? I feel bad for her." Naturally she went ignored.

Fuyuki could see a scowl slowly appearing on her face. Cute.

Iroha played with her hair. "Anyways... I was thinking... Could you take me home today, Senpai? Like you did on Friday?" Oh boy, it was time to lose some Iroha points.

He looked away... or more accurately, he looked at Mai. "Sorry, I have something planned with a Senpai." They planned on continuing their detective work even after school was over.

Mai's smug grin had enough energy to power a factory. "Indeed. I'm glad you haven't forgotten due to her womanly willes." He wasn't that down bad... Actually, he had kidnapped two women. He was indeed that down bad.

Iroha pouted. "Seriously... ugh..." She looked away. "Well, I guess I'll ask for one of the boys at the football club to take me home. It's dangerous to go alone right now, after all." She couldn't be blamed for that.

However, her face made what she was actually trying to do clear. She was trying to make him jealous, hoping that Fuyuki would backtrack and apologize. Alas, if he did something like that, Mai would kill him.

Also, he wasn't that type in the first place. "Okay then, but just so that they don't get any ideas..." He pulled his cute kouhai for a kiss.

Iroha didn't resist, she was surprised however. "Big br—! Mmmph...!" This was definitely outside of her plans.

Couples in Japan didn't tend to be this affectionate in public, especially in school of all places. There was also a tendency to not announce a relationship immediately, so Iroha was probably expecting that their relationship would stay underwraps for a few weeks.

But now her Senpai was kissing her in the entrance to the school. There was no hiding that.

Once the kiss ended, Iroha's head felt dazed. "Senpai! Y-you're not supposed to be that forward!" Everyone was looking at them! Her heart couldn't take that!

But Fuyuki just chuckled. "Um? Well, obviously I will be forward around my own girlfriend. She's the best, after all." He actually wasn't planning to do this, but now hopefully guys wouldn't get the wrong idea.

Iroha looked away. "Awah... In that case, this girlfriend shall accept those affections." Her heart was beating way too fast... even though her chances with Hayato had just taken a massive hit.

Her boyfriend really was unbelievably powerful!

"All couples should die." Mai Sakurajima however, did not appreciate a romcom in the morning.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

For Fuyuki, lunch never came.

It would definitely piss his bunny girl senpai off, but it couldn't be helped. He had been called to the principal's office for another session with a detective after all. His whole class really, Fuyuki just had the worst luck when it came to timing.

Once he entered the room however... he wasn't met with a detective. Instead the room had the principal, a bunch of men dressed in black suits, and...

A high school girl. Sitting down and showing no emotion. "Fuyuki Fujiwara, I presume?" He hesitantly nodded. "Please sit down."

He immediately did as asked. He didn't understand what was going on here, but there was no reason to be uncooperative. Especially since that would probably just make him even more suspicious.

Once he obeyed, she continued. "My name is Kyoko Kirigiri. A first year at Hope's Peak Academy, my title is of the Ultimate Detective." Oh... shit... "I know this may be presumptuous of me, but please treat me as a full fledged detective." He definitely would.

Only the most arrogant of the arrogant would underestimate a Ultimate after all. They had been hand-picked to attend the best school in all of Japan because they had a insane level of talent at something, and so it wouldn't surprise him if this girl was actually more perceptive than the previous detective.

He wanted to run away.

He couldn't however, he just had to be careful to not give anything away. "Of course, Kirigiri. S-shouldn't you be on school though?" That was a genuine question of him.

Were they really letting a high schooler work on a real case...? Even if she was talented, that was kind of insane.

"This is my school work, Senpai." Hope's Peak really was crazy... Being called a senpai by a Ultimate felt nice though. "So, I'm told you weren't familiar with either Yumiko Miura or Yukino Yukinoshita?" Ah, she probably had records of what he said to the other detective.

He nodded. "Yeah, I just knew about them... more or less." Obviously he needed to keep his story consistent.

Appearing suspicious here would mean defeat. Especially since he couldn't just throw Kyoko into the apartment with all these men guarding her. If nothing else, Hope's Peak knew such school work would be dangerous.

"I see. I do have a question however. You entered the Service Club on Thursday, a day before Yukino Yukinoshita disappeared, did you not?" Ah.

She probably either heard that from a previous interview with Yuigahama, who had been called before him. Or she had heard from Yuigahama's interview with the detective.

In the end it didn't matter. Lying would just make him more suspicious. "Yeah." Surely the Service Club had tons of people who visited it everyday anyways?

Though Kyoko probably knew he came and immediately left without saying a damn word. Yui had probably noticed that as strange behavior, which is why she reported it in the first place.

Kyoko hummed. "So, what were you doing?" She looked at a paper in her desk. "From what I understand, the Service Club is a problem solving club who helps those in need. Where you in need?" And like that, she knew more about the Service Club that he did!

"Nope. I just went there to see if I could find an acquaintance of mine to hang out during lunch, Hikigaya Hachiman. He is part of the Service Club... Though in the end, lunch ended before I found him." Now it was time to start lying.

He couldn't tell her that he had come to the club to mark Yukinoshita, for obvious reasons.

She raised an eyebrow. "I see, but why didn't you stick around and ask them about his whereabouts then?" He really shouldn't have run off like that.

He looked away, scratching his cheek. "Talking with pretty girls is embarassing." And both of the Service Club members were certainly cute.

She frowned. "You were kissing a woman earlier." Oops, he had been caught. Also, he technically called her a not-pretty girl.

How did she even know about that...? Did news spread fast enough that people were bringing it up during interviews!? Or... or she had been inside of that black car. Watching the student.

He had to think of something... and fast. "Yeah, that's my girlfriend, Iroha Isshiki. She's definitely super pretty, but it's different with her. We are childhood friends, so I feel more... comfortable around her."

"Did you two get together recently?" Why was she interested in his relationships!? "No offense, but from your profile I assumed you were quite the loner." He had a profile!? Since when!?

It was probably made out of the previous detective's accounts, and maybe from the opinions of his teachers as well.

He sighed. "Yeah, I am. We got together this Saturday... To be honest we only recently reconnected, during Friday, and I guess we just really clicked together."

A small smile appeared on her face. "That's nice..." He could only hope he had thrown her off. "Back to the topic of the Service Club however, what could you tell me about Hikigaya Hachiman?" So she was curious about the other loner too...

That made sense. He was close to Yukino, so of course she would be interested.

A interesting thought came to his mind however... wasn't this a good chance to throw Hikigaya under the bus? He could tell her that he was a little creep, and that they only hanged out because they both liked video games. Without a doubt most of the other students had shit talked him as well, the guy was super unpopular.

If she started thinking of Hikigaya as suspicious, that could buy him some precious time... No. He shouldn't take that bait, because it would undoubtedly lead to a dead end once she realized Hikigaya was fairly nice. And then she would wonder why his fellow loner acquaintance trash talked him.

"Hikigaya is... a pretty nice guy. Some people think of him as a creep, but I never saw him mistreat anyone." It was all in the eyes... and maybe the attitude. "I even hanged out with him and Iroha on Saturday. He was pretty nice." Hikigaya had mostly gawked at free stuff.

"I see. That goes against most of what I've heard so far, but I'll keep it in mind." People really were shit talking him for no reason!? If Hikigaya learned that he would cry!

She continued. "Now, I have one more question... Do you know Mai Sakurajima?" His heart froze.

Wasn't that a weird question? Even the principal seemed confused about it... though for all he knew the principal had actually forgotten about her, and was wondering who the fuck Mai Sakurajima was.

Um... in theory he should say no. The people of his area had already forgotten about her, and so he should follow onto their footsteps to not seem suspicious, however Kyoko had definitely seen him talking to the bunny girl.

In the end he couldn't lie. "Yeah, she's a friend." What the hell did she have to do with Yukino and Yumiko's disappearance though?

"Okay. Thank you for cooperating." And like that the interrogation was over.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

He returned to class. The interrogation had lasted long enough that he had zero time to actually investigate the school with his poor forgotten Senpai.

He began writing on his notebook. "Satan. I have an order." It was a shame he couldn't have talked with him during the interrogation, but better late than never.

If nothing else, at least his constant presence probably meant Kyoko wasn't aware of the supernatural, or at least she had no supernatural powers. She hadn't reacted at all to the quiet flying eyeball that always followed him. Alternatively, she was just that good at hiding her expressions.

The eyeball smiled. "I live to serve." He highly doubted that.

But his help was indeed convenient. "Next time we meet Kyoko Kirigiri mark her. I want to constantly stay aware of her activities." He didn't actually plan on kidnapping her.

It would be too difficult right now. She was a Ultimate, so the entirety of Japan would cause an uproar at her disappearance. The biggest problem were those man in blacksuits however, because they were definitely armed, and even if they weren't, Fuyuki couldn't deal with a whole group.

Besides, Yukino and Yumiko had finally settled into his chosen dynamic. He shouldn't add a third element to that so early. Especially when he didn't know much about the Ultimate Detective.

Sadly... Satan quickly rejected him. "I'm afraid I cannot do that, Young Master."

Fuyuki quickly replied through his notebook. "Why not?" Did his ability have some sort of limit that only let two people be marked? That would be inconvenient, but he couldn't complain.

However, the problem here is not some limit. "Because you still haven't finished your food with Yukino and Yumiko." Ah? "I promised to help you with your first captures, Kyoko Kirigiri is not part of that group."

He continued. "Besides, matching wits with the so-called Ultimate Detective should be good for you. If you win, you will certainly grow." In essence, this was another matter similar to Mai's enemy. Satan wanted him to deal with it more or less by himself.

"Got it." It was annoying, but it didn't matter. Fuyuki would certainly win, and break Kyoko Kirigiri, be it by killing her or... well, she was pretty cute. And having the Ultimate Detective by his side could be useful.

Besides, he had always wanted a Sherlock so he could start thinking himself as a Moriarty... but like... one that actually won.

"Yo Senpai. Sorry that I didn't show up during lunch, a detective working on the disappearance cases was calling up everybody from my class, and I got unlucky."

She waved him off. "It's fine. It's not like I thought you had forgotten me, or chosen to hang out with your girlfriend instead." She definitely had. "I'm not the type of woman who gets hysteric if a man doesn't pay her attention." She definitely was.

She continued. "Also, simply calling her a detective seems mean. Kyoko Kirigiri is a Ultimate after all." If Mai had not entered a hiatus, she would have attended the same school as her...

The Ultimate Actress... that would have been... No, she didn't have the time to think about that.

Fuyuki shrugged. "Eh, I don't think she cares. I'm surprised you know it was her though." He wasn't surprised about her knowing of her existence however.

The Ultimates were kind of like celebrities. Even Fuyuki knew most of them... The only reason he hadn't know about Kyoko was due to her status as a first year. Without a doubt that would have changed with time as she began showing up on TV interviews and the like.

Mai sighed. "I know it was her, because she interrogated me too." Hah!? "To be honest, it was a pain and it took a really long time. If yours lasted as long as mine did, you have my sympathies."

She continued. "It had its funny moments though. The principal definitely forgot about me, so he just stood there with a funny face, wondering who I was."

Fuyuki eye's twitched. "Senpai... Kirigiri asked about you during the interrogation."

"Funny, she asked me about you."

"She definitely knows you're being forgotten, doesn't she?" As expected of the Ultimate Detective. She was unrivaling a total different case on the side.

Mai nodded. "Definitely. Don't worry however, I did not tell her about your ties with the supernatural." Oh? "Well, she is probably going to find it weird that you still remember me... but she also probably doesn't know about the areas affected, and there are other people who still remember me..." So maybe she would overlook Fuyuki's existence.

Fuyuki raised an eyebrow. "Right. Why didn't you tell her about me though? Or ask for help?"

Mai looked away. "Would it really matter? She will just forget me soon anyways. And besides... I wanted to protect you. For all I know she would start accusing you of being the enemy stand user."

"For all I know she's even crazy enough that she might have accused you of being the kidnapper... so... um... I guess I didn't want that." Cute. Way too cute.

Her lies were probably born due to her mistrust as well however. It took a bit of work for Fuyuki to work through her walls, so naturally Kyoko got rejected. Well, in the end he was definitely grateful.

Kyoko learning of his supernatural powers would be a disaster. "Thank you Senpai. I have now fallen for you."

She blushed. "Didn't we promise we would both never fall for each other? Don't break that promise... and even if you do, I won't fall for you." A cold and immediate rejection!

He chuckled. "Don't worry, I have platonically fallen for you. I now see you as an older sister, or a mother, or maybe even an aunt." Maybe even a grandma! "A girl who protects a weak little man such as I."

She glared at him. "I see. I accept being called a big sister, but mother and aunt will get you killed." Oh yeah?

"Please don't disown me, mommy." Hopefully this one wouldn't secretly fuck a fallen angel.

Her blush returned with far more strength. "What did I just sa—!" But before she could continue, Fuyuki's phone began ringing.

He took it out of his pocket. "A unknown number..." It wasn't someone from his investigation with Mai. Nonetheless, he took the call. "Hello, sorry, but who's this?"

"It's me, Kirigi." For real!? "Sorry to bother you, Fujiwara-Senpai." Ah, but for some reason being called senpai by such a emotionless voice made his heart skip a beat. Kuuderes were cute.

"It's no bother... How did you get my number though?"

"The school has the number of every student." What an amazing invasion of privacy. "Anyways, I wanted to ask you if we could meet." Alone...? No, she would definitely bring a bodyguard or too. He wasn't stupid enough to fall for that bait.

"I have a girlfriend, Kirigiri." There, he had masterfully deflected her.

"I know. I don't wish to go on a date with you." Another cold rejection... "I just want to talk with you about Mai Sakurajima." Well...

It seems the protection from a bunny girl senpai wasn't worth a damn thing.
