It's True Love 70

"W-why did you drag me to the rooftops...?"

Yuta pointed at his own shadow. "Because she had to be here for this. This is a childhood friend intervention." He almost wished he could drag Aoko into here.

Rika left his shadow. "Yep! I have to be here for this!" If Yuta hadn't left the classroom, she would have probably popped up right there and then, screw the consequences.

Shiki clicked his tongue. "Are you two for real...?" He glared at Yuta. "Hey! You said you wouldn't make fun of me!" What was he thinking? Trusting Yuta of all people!?

Yuta sighed. "I'm not making fun of you! On the contrary, I'm very much worried about you!" He put his hands on Shiki's shoulder, and began shaking him. "How did it happen!? When did it happen!? Why did it happen!?"

How had he missed such a huge development!? Was Shiki really that good at hiding his own debauchery!?

Well, maybe, but Yuta had also been really busy. Every since Rika and him accidentally stumbled onto Arcueid, his life had become crazier and crazier. It had also become more and more filled with women. As such, Shiki and him ended up not interacting as much.

Shiki slapped his hands away. "It's none of your business!"

Rika quickly interjected. "Yes, it is not his business. It is our business!" Very nice, comrade Rika!

Shiki rolled his eyes. "I'm leaving. Class is about to start anyways." That was probably true...

They didn't have much time to waste. Though then again, Yuta would be more than willing to miss class for something as important as this! His bro's very life was at stake... sort of... not really.

Rika stood in his way. "Oh no, you are not leaving, Four Eyes." This gossip was too juicy for her to let it slip away!

Shiki's eye twitched. "Rika... move..." Yuta wondered if he was about to show some Nanaya moves.

Was he willing to confront a curse capable of fighting a True Ancestor just to keep the details of his elicit affair with a MILF a secret!? His friend had truly fallen to the dark side! Not that Yuta of all people could talk.

"And If I don't move Four Eyes? Then what?" Oh boy, this wasn't good. "Need I remind you how things tend to go when you jump at me like a maniac?" They didn't tend to go well.

Due to his instincts, Shiki had attacked her in the past... and failed to accomplish anything meaningful. In the end, even with his eyes and his surprising speed, Rika was magnitudes above him. Maybe he would have a chance with a sneak attack, but of course he wouldn't do that.

Shiki sighed. "No... you don't need to remind me of anything." He gave up. There would be no escape.

Even as the bell began to ring, he made no moves. It was over.

Rika snorted. Glad that she had tamed the demon hunter. "Okay spill it! When did it happen!? Am I now Yumizuka's aunt!?"

Yuta gasped. "I don't want to be Sacchin's uncle! I was thinking about hitting on her recently, you know!?" That would be a scary route.

Shiki let out a frustrates groan. "When did you two become my siblings!? Also, don't even think about flirting with her, Yuta!" If Sacchin got corrupted by his friend, he would not know how to apologize to her mother.

Yuta looked away. "Getting permission from the dad is gonna be tough huh..." This was weird.

He didn't really have much of an interest in the girl, he was just curious on whether she liked him or not... but now that Shiki was forbidding that relationship, Yuta kinda want to make her his just to spite him. If they were indeed siblings, then Yuta was undoubtedly the worst brother in the world.

Shiki pointed at him. "It's not just hard! It's impossible!" He pushed his glasses up. "Besides, isn't Akiha already enough of my family for you!?" He really was counting Sacchin as family!? "When does your harem plan end!?"

Well... huh. A good question.

A really good question... when did it end...?

Rika pat his head. "Not the time for existential crisis, Yuta!" She then glared at Shiki. "Not the time to be giving Yuta existential crisis, Four Eyes!" Yep, he just wouldn't think about it too hard.

Yuta nodded. "Yeah. I'm not the one who's gonna get bullied here! You are!"

"I'm surprised you said that with such conviction." But maybe he shouldn't at this point. This was Yuta after all. "But... sure... you're right. You two should just ask what you want already so this can end." The teachers were going to kill him.

Both Rika and Yuta immediately raised a hand.

Shiki sighed. "They really are like children..." He pointed at Yuta. "You first, since I know you're the less crazy of the two." Probably. It was hard to say if he was being honest.

Yuta crossed his arms. "Right... so I'm just gonna come out and ask. Are you sure she isn't taking advantage of you?"

"Huh?"

"Don't huh me. It's a natural question. You're a teenager after all." That was funny coming from Yuta of course, but...

Even if he himself was a piece of shit, that didn't mean he was going to let other people be pieces of shit towards his friends. And besides, at least he wasn't some malefic force, which is something he didn't know if he could say about Sacchin's mother.

He continued. "And age isn't the only problem here. There's also the fact that you come from a rich family, while she's struggling financially... from what I know." Which means Shiki would have been an easy target.

Rika gasped. "Wow, you really are going full protective mode... I just wanted to know if he was planning on telling Yumizuka or not." Yuta imagined that was a big fat no.

Shiki blushed. "I'll tell her... one day!" So never. "Leaving that aside Yuta, are you really criticizing me!? You flirt with Noel-Sensei whenever the opportunity presents itself... and you are also literally dating Sensei!" Ah. Aoko, right.

He had to be careful with what he told Shiki here. If he messed up, then those words would probably return to his redheaded lover, who might actually grow a sense of responsibility and break up with him. Ther was also Ciel and Arcueid to consider, who at least appeared to be way older than him...

Rika interjected. "W-well, it's different with Yuta..." She knew about his real age.

Actually now that Yuta thought about it, it was kind of messed up that his victim was trying to defend him so that he could defend Shiki from becoming a victim. And people claimed that mages were the crazy ones.

Shiki glared at her. "How is it any different...?" Rika had no reply to give. She knew this was a secret Yuta wanted to take with him to the grave.

He sighed. "Look... I understand that you two are just trying to look out for me, and I won't act like this is normal... but trust me. Please. I know what I'm doing." He definitely didn't know what he was doing.

But for now, there was nothing Yuta could do about it besides watch. "Alright, but don't expect me to ignore things if I see you being abused or something."

Shiki smiled. "Okay... that's good enough."

Rika raised a hand. "I will crush the hag at Yuta's orders. Please keep that in mind." Murder!

Shiki sputtered. "Don't call her a hag! She's not super old...!" Was this really what he was focusing on!? "She had Yumizuka when she was really young you know!?" Even if that was the case, Yuta doubted she wasn't a hag!

Yuta waved him off. "Sure. Sure. So how did this affront to my religion come to be?" The religion he had adopted so he could hunt vampires, but still...

Shiki blushed. "It's complicated... Yumizuka invited me to come to her restaurant one day..." So she had invitied Shiki before she did Yuta? Ouch... "And there I met her mother and... things just kind of happened."

Silence immediately invaded the rooftop.

What was Yuta supposed to say about such a story? It was so short that he did not know if he should mock it or accept it. Hell, it was so short that even if he did want to mock it, which angle should he go about it!?

Thankfully, Rika put his feelings into words. "That's some major bullcrap, Four Eyes! Be more specific! Give me the juicy details!" His girlfriend was the type who butted into the relationships of others, huh?

Shiki took a step back. "I-I can't be more specific...! It just... it just kind of happened!" He glared at me. "Hey, you had similar experiences before right!? When a relationship just sort of works out!?"

Yuta hesitantly nodded. "Sure..." They were mostly about his past life, but he got Shiki's point.

Sometimes two people just clicked. They just enjoyed talking with each other, being with each other. And before long they ended up entering a relationship because that was something both knew they would enjoy.

It was something Yuta hadn't really experienced much in this life... not because he didn't click with the people he liked, but because typically they also came with some big adventure... Beating Vlov, saving the twins, going on dates with the Aozakis...

Rika looked at him weirdly. "You're agreeing with him!?"

And so did Shiki. "You're agreeing with me!?"

Yuta snorted. "Were you expecting me not to? Then why bring me up in the first place?" Shiki was probably just throwing shit at the wall and seeing if something stuck. "Anyway, we should go back to class."

"R-right... But about Yumizuka's worries—."

"No worries, I'll talk with Senpai about it."

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Ciel had decided on a bit of special training for tonight's search.

In fact, he figured tonight was more for the training, then it was for the search.

They were jumping around from rooftop to rooftop. Like maniacs. "S-Senpai, are we sure this is a good idea!?" And this were high buildings too. Yuta wasn't sure he would die with a fall, but it would hurt.

Ciel laughed at his question. "We had to do this eventually! Besides, if you do fall, I'll catch you!" Or Arcueid would. Or Rika. Yuta had way too many shields to be worrying about such light training.

"O-okay!" He needed to control his anxiety.

Training was always something strange for Yuta, it felt more nerve-wracking than actually fighting an opponent. Maybe because he didn't have a real target to throw his emotions and attacks at? Maybe because the feeling that could die at any moment ironically helped him concentrate?

In the end didn't matter. He took a deep breath and kept following his Senpai. "By the way Senpai, there is something I want to talk with you about!"

She grinned, and picked up speed. "Alright! Talk!" It was clear that she was challenging him.

If he wanted her to listen, he would need to follow her closely. Which meant he wouldn't be able to hesitate due to fear. That was fine though, he was beginning to grow more confident.

"It's about Sacchin! That girl that I asked you to wipe the memories off!" He quickened his step. "Shiki noticed that she was acting strange, and you said I should watch her so... Yeah! Should I do something!?"

"Saying she's acting strange doesn't really fill my head with information!" F-fair enough. "But do keep an eye on her! If she breaks through the hypnotism or something, I can just hypnotize her again!" Neat.

Actually, now that he thought about it... that was kind of terrifying. As expected of a member of the Burial Agency.

A new noise reached his ears. It was his phone ringing. "Wait a second Senpai! Someone is calling me!" He knew it was unprofessional to do this during a job, but it could be Kohaku or Hisui in distress or something.

Ciel pouted, but stopped. "Geez, you should turn that off while working." Yuta was pretty sure she didn't turn her own cellphone off while working!

He looked away. "My bad." And then looked at his cellphone. It wasn't a unknown number...

Akiha was calling him.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

"Tsk." He clicked his tongue and parried another slash.

The stranger in front of him. The stranger trying to kill him... was really skilled with a knife. Most importantly however, he moved weirdly, it was like he was trying to trace the same lines as Shiki.

And maybe he was. In that case Shiki definitely couldn't let him succeed, it would mean death after all.

"Who are you anyways!?" Why was he being attacked!? He was just going home, when this maniac came from an alleyway and suddenly started trying to kill him!

The man growled. "You took everything from me!" That didn't answer much of anything. Shiki didn't remember taking a damn thing from anybody!

Was this an enemy of the Tohno's...? Maybe of the Nanaya's...?

The man almost took his head off with one slash.

Shiki barely dodged it, and gripped his knife as much as he could. "Right. It doesn't matter." This was a battle of life or death. Thinking about the why wouldn't help, he knew that.

Still... at least this man wasn't human. Shiki could feel his instincts singing at him after all, helping him move without hesitation. Slowly making him forget about the value of life.

He knew he would hate himself for it eventually... but for now he would just have to listen to those instincts. He couldn't die here after all.

And so their dance continued... until the man jumped back.

"No... this isn't right..." He was mumbling to himself.

Shiki thought about taking the opportunity and leaping in to finish him off, taking advantage of his distressed state. But he knew nothing about him, so... maybe that wasn't a good idea after all. This could be a trap.

Thankfully, in the end he didn't have to make a decision.

A blur moved between the two, and hit the strange man right in the face, using some kind of red staff. It send the enemy flying, with force that Shiki could definitely not imitate.

That blur was his bodyguard, Toji. "You okay, kid?" For once he seemed serious.

Shiki weakly nodded. "Y-yeah... Wait, you shouldn't interfere with this! It could be dangerous!" Not just could be, it definitely was! The enemy probably had the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception after all!

The man snorted. "I just threw a guy through a building." Well... yeah... "Also, I just killed that guy's vampire minions." Ah, so that was why he didn't jump-in immediately.

He continued. "Though I guess it doesn't matter." He yawned. "The pussy ran, and since I can't leave you alone, I can't pursue him."

"Ignore me! You can go after him!"

"Your sister would actually kill me if I did that." Fair enough.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Shiki awkwardly scratched his head. "So... yeah... that strange guy tried killing me."

Akiha's eye twitched. "The nerve..." She glared at Toji. "And you couldn't kill him!? You incompetent monkey!" Ah, his sister was really, really mad huh? It was a good thing they sent Miyako to her room.

Toji looked away. "My bad." He knew talking back wasn't a good idea when it came to Akiha. He had done it before. It had not went well.

She pinched her nose. "Why am I even paying you...? You have gotten me no results, even though you have been hired for quite a while now! And you even let this perpetrator escape!" She sighed. "Well, I guess I need you around in case that monster returns from the mountains."

Shiki had no idea what the hell they were talking about, but he could figure out that at Toji had not lost his job. What a great loss for humanity and the Tohno household...

Akiha then looked at him, worry in her gaze. "Now that I have reprimanded the monkey... we should discuss our next move." Ah, they couldn't just ignore this, huh?

It made sense. Especially since it could be a enemy of the Tohno's. "Alright then, here's my idea—."

She immediately cut him off. "There's no need for it. I have already decided on our plan." Oi, then why talk about discussing things? As expected of his sister... "First of all, you and Miyako are prohibited to leave this house for a while."

"But—." He had to check and see if Yumizuka was okay!

"No buts. This is an order as the heir of the Tohno." In essence, a order as his superior. "Toji will be keeping you two safe." The bodyguard silently gave her a thumb up. Though such an attitude was probably just gonna piss her off more.

Shiki grit his teeth. "Okay..." He understood she was just trying to take care of them. "But what about you!? Don't tell me you're actually thinking about going out to hunt this maniac!" He wouldn't allow that.

She may have some authority as the heir of the Tohno, but he had his own authority as a big brother!

She huffed. "I am the person supposed to take care of this city, of course I'll hunt them." That's...! "Don't worry big brother, I am a demon. My strength is actually quite high." He... He would still worry.

He clicked his tongue. "No. I don't care if you can benchpress a planet. I'm not letting my little sister risk her life!" Especially since that guy had his Mystic Eyes! "If you're going out, I'm going too!" He didn't like fighting, but...

"No." She blushed. "But don't worry, I don't plan on hunting alone..." Huh?

AN: Wow, Toji actually did something? It only took 70 chapters...

I will not let this become a 1000 chapter fic like a Xianxia. I will not!
