I Just Want To Abuse My Power 53

Waver Velvet. Gilgamesh. Kirei Kotomine.

Those were the three people Yato could think off right now that could give him more or less unbiased advice. And so, after ditching Ayako, he quickly ran to the Fuyuki church.

He didn't really trust Kirei, not when Laeticia only had complaints about him, but still he was the only man on his list that Yato knew he could always find and have a face-to-face conversation with. So he would listen to him, even if very carefully.

Slowly Yato opened the door to the church. He didn't want to disturb anyone who could have been there praying.

And there really was someone praying. Laeticia, who he had more or less considered the possibility of meeting. She might even be liable to give him advice.

As soon as she noticed him, she gave him a bright smile. "Yato!?" She rushed at him with surprising speed for a normal teenager. "Whar a pleasent surprise! What are you doing here?" Trying to fix his harem.

That would probably come off a bit too strong however, so he awkwardly looked away. "Trying to look for some guidance, I guess..." His eyes widened, realizing the implications of what he had just said. "But not the religious kind!" Which definitely made him come to a church all the more weird.

She tilted her head. "Oh? Really?" And then her smile became even brighter. "Wait, are you here to seek advice from me!?" That was as embarassing as it was flattering, but it was the first conclusion she arrived at.

The boy knew where she was staying, so why else would he come to a church seeking advice? At least when that advice was not the religious type.

Yato blushed. "I'm actually seeking advice from Kirei... Though you might help too." Might. He felt like a good church girl like Laeticia would not really be able to give adivice about something as ludicrous as a harem.

Naturally one would then argue that the same thing applied to Kirei, as he was a priest. Yato's counter argument would be the fact that Kirei was Caren's father, and therefore not exactly a normal priest.

Laeticia immediately made the face of someone that had eaten something very sour. "Really...? Why him of all people?" She crossed her arms. "I know this is uncouth of me to say, but his advice tends to not be... great."

Yato snorted. "Yeah, I figured, but... I'm just looking for alternate viewpoints on something." Also, Kirei had sort of helped him in the past. For example, he only found out about the Grail due to the priest.

Laeticia pouted. "Alternate viewpoints? I don't know what you are trying to understand, but I suppose that is commendable." She sighed. "And since I'm here, I shall take his duty and guide you in his stead." Hopefully it wasn't something overly... boyish.

She would still hear him out of course, but she would rather not get embarrassed onto oblivion!Something which might have already happened, considering she threw herself at him like a torpedo thinking he had come to visit her. She could literally hear Jeanne laughing at her misery. Not very saint-like behavior as far as Laeticia was concerned.

Yato hesitantly nodded. "Okay then... How far do you think people should go for someone that they... you know... love?" He wasn't going to outright say what this was about to her, but he could at least allude to it.

Her reply came immediately. "As far as they can, and then maybe a little more." That was something she at least believed in.

And so did Jeanne of course. Though the saint understood that such a quality was not something one could, or reasonably should expect from another person.

And Yato more or less agreed with them, but... "Yeah, but this situation is a little bit more... complicated." Could he even explain this without saying what it was?

Even if he did say it, would she understand him? He was a Campione after all, people struggled to understand him. It was why he deeply appreciated anyone who would at least try, even when it failed miserably.

Laeticia squinted her eyes. "Complicated...?" And then her eyes widened. "Oh my! Is someone asking you to commit a crime for them!?" It may be a bit of a leap in logic, but it was the first thing that came to her mind.

"You should not do it then! Not because you don't care for that person, but because you do!" Before she realized it, she started going on a tirade.

Yato took a step back at her sudden fervor. "No, that isn't it..." He put a hand to his chin. "But then again, it actually is..." It's just that he could easily change it into not actually being a crime. So did it even matter?

"It is!?" And to think she let her heart calm down for a second! This was serious business!

Yato flinched. "Yeah, but that's not really the issue here."

"How is that not the issue!?" If it wasn't, then it should be!

Before they could continue, Kirei emerged from the back of the church. "My, what is this ruckus about?" He was fairly sure people could hear the girl screaming from the other side of the city.

It didn't surprise him however. Not anymore at least. He had grown to accept that the inheritor of the saint's will was quite a lively girl. A trait which he looked forwards to breaking under the Campione's wil—.

The Campione was here.

Talking with the saint. And both seemed to be fairly happy with each other.

Laeticia glared at him. "We are in the middle of an extremely important lesson! My friend is confused about something, and I'm trying to help him—."

Yato carelessly cut her off. "Oh! Yo Kirei! I'm here to talk with you about something." It was convenient that the priest had finally shown up. He could save Yato before things got really awkward. Even if it might be too late at this point.

Kirei lightly bowed. "I'm always willing to talk." He didn't exactly understand what was going on...

Did the saint learn of the Campione? Probably not, knowing her that would lead to a fight, as it was her mission. That didn't matter in the end though. Kirei would show as much respect to the Campione as he could, because he was not yet suicidal.

Yato smiled. "Great! I would rather it be private though."

Laeticia glared at him. "Hey, I'm still talkin—."

Kirei talked over her. "Of course. Please follow me." Follow he did, both ignoring the concerns of the saint.

Kirei did not take him to the attic, as he was not foolish enough to show that to a Campione. Who knows how they would react? Nonetheless, there were plenty of places where he and Yato could have a private talk.

Once there, Kirei cleared his throat. "So, what is it that you need?" He hoped it wasn't something too overly complicated. He would not be able to deny the Campione's whims after all.

Still, due to his frequent talks with Gilgamesh he did not feel particularly afraid. Perhaps he had grown accustomed to talking with such arrogance driven beings. Not that he would say that out loud to the king of course, it would definitely get him killed if he did.

Yato took sometime before responding. Once he did, his tone was low, just in case the girl was trying to hear. "I wanted to hear your opinions on marrying multiple women." There. He said it.

Kirei considering his options.

He did not understand the context of this question yet, but it sounded like a good opportunity to create some misery. However, toying with a Campione would probably get him killed so...

In the end he just decided to be honest. "It is a sacred bond between two people, a bond blessed by God." Even he had felt it... He had loved his wife after all. In his eyes she had been more saint than the saint who lived in this church.

It's why his perverted and cursed soul wished to break her so badly.

Yato groaned. "I figured you would say that... but I'm not a religious guy." As one would expect from a godslayer. "So let me explain my situation." Maybe then Kirei's views would change.

It was fine if they didn't though. Yato was just looking for alterning view points, so he could make his own. Or keep the one he already had in case nothing struck a chord with him.

He cleared his throat. "So, it all started once I got engaged with this girl who has massive boobs... and also is a true magician or whatever." He ignored Kirei suddenly gasping for air. "All was well and good, but my harem got pissed because I refused to marry them."

"So I started going on dates and stuff to fix my harem, killed Zouken and his grandson—." Kirei cut him off.

He knew it was unwise to do that when a Campione was talking... but he had limits! "You... killed Zouken?" And also the worm's grandson apparently. Not that Kirei cared much about him.

Yato nodded. "Yep, used my authority. Which was kind of overkill now that I think about it, but I was really mad." Well, that explained how weird the air had felt for Kirei recently.

The magic equivalent of a nuclear bomb had been released on Fuyuki. To kill an insect. That made Kirei surprisingly happy.

Just because he was an evil being, that did not mean he had a like for other evil beings. In fact, he tended to despise them. So hearing that one of the most evil people he had ever known was dead made him feel quite joyous. Although he wished he was there to see Rin's face once she learned of what had happened to her sister.

Maybe that had yet to happen? Maybe he could still see it? Well, that wasn't a priority now. First he could deal with the scary and unpredictable Campione. Feeling weirdly excited about the pain of others came later.

Yato carried on, as if he hadn't just casually talked about killing what had once been one of the most influential magus in the whole world. "So, I met this friend of mine, and she called me stupid. Which is... normal for me, but I'm trying to not be stupid this one time."

Kirei nodded. "I see... I still do not see what the issue is?"

Yato crossed his arms. "Everybody wants to get married with me, but I don't know if I should marry everyone. That friend I talked about said I should just swallow my discomfort and marry them anyway. What do you think?"

That was... quite the conundrum. "It is in a Campione's nature to do as he pleases. If you find discomfort in taking multiple brides, then you should simply not take multiple brides."

Yato hummed. "Makes sense..." That was more or less what he thought too. "Is that really it though?" He wasn't against it, in fact that was what everyone had been pretty much telling him.

It's how he got his harem started in the first place.

Kirei shrugged. "That is what a Campione would do yes. I do not know you well enough to say what Yato Shibata would do however." The priest grinned. "Though if I were in your place, I would also refuse them all. Marriage is sacred, not something that should happen on a whim."

It was something that had changed Kirei's trajectory in life. Even if perhaps not exactly for the better... Still, marriage was not something he could take lightly.

Yato squinted his eyes. "I don't really care about the sacret comment, but I don't disagree... Still, is that really it?" Since the talk with Ayako had been so important, he was expecting something a bit more... special.

Kirei was willing to give him that. "Hum... I do not believe much else should be added, but I shall ask you a question. Are you justified in taking an action simply because it is in your nature?" He was now definitely trending a dangerous path.

He continued. "A Campione lives for what he finds pleasure in, and ignores what he doesn't find pleasure in. That is the natural state of your kind, but does that make it right? Should you even care about right?"

"Naturally, one cannot blame an animal for doing what his instincts tell him to do, but are you an animal...? You were human once." Kirei had always wondered whether Campione became crazy, or were always crazy.

Evidence seemed to point at the latter, and he could see why, but perhaps it was not so clear cut? Perhaps an already mad person was driven even further to madness after they ascended? In that case, could they be blamed for their actions?

Yato tilted his head. "Even if I could be blamed, does it matter? Nobody can hold me accountable anyways." That was really the core thing about Campiones.

As long as one was willing to ignore what people thought of them, they could do whatever. And Campione tended to not care about what people thought of them... Or they cared in their own... special ways. Yato had heard some scary tales of his Chinese sister.

Kirei nodded. "Indeed, you cannot be punished for any sins you might have committed... or at least you believe so. However, why is it that you then seek advice in the house of God?"

Yato gasped. "Wow, you're totally right!" It was something that he just had to accept at this point, prideful as he was.

There was no way he could just shrug his shoulders, say he was above consequences, and then walk back to his mansion. If that was the case he would already have done so!

Yato put his hand on his chin. "But then what am I supposed to do...?" Besides dating everyone individually and just kind of hoping they would all take him back that is.

Kirei interjected. "If I may, can I ask what you find so displeasing about marrying multiple women in the first place?" It was bound to be interesting. Enlightening even. "Finding out why exactly might help put your thoughts in order." And also Kirei's.

That made sense, as far as Yato was concerned. "I... I guess because I'm kinda like you." When it came to this, not when it came to other things. Like for example, Yato was never going to have a mullet, or live alone in a church for most of the time. "I think special things shouldn't be abundant."

"A part of the reason why Campione are so special, is because we are so rare, as an example." If there were hundreds of Campiones walking around, then who would care?

Well, the world would probably end.

But the point was that he didn't want to make the act of marrying someone meaningless! And it would become like that if married every single women in the street!

Kirei raised an eyebrow. "Understandable, although perhaps this world would be better if the special was abundant... Leaving that aside, I must confess, I did not know you were so close to... this True Magician." He was asssuming Aoko Aozaki.

But he could be wrong. Maybe Zelretch decided to become a woman. Maybe some other Magician showed up suddenly alive. When it concerned their kind, people shouldn't think too much about it. Kind of like Campione.

Yato tilted her head. "I'm not really that close to her... Though I hope that will change!" He nodded to himself. "I met her pretty recently, but I'm sure there's room for our relationship to grow." She was his type.

Because she had big boobs and all.

Kirei scrunched his eyebrows together. "That's... Well..." For a first time in a long while, he had found himself at a loss for words. "Why... why are you marrying her then?" Didn't the boy just contradict everything he had said!?

Yato shrugged. "Eh, I owed her a favor, she wanted some stuff, we hashed it out." Overall the deal was pretty great. Aoko would get money and support, and Yato would get a big titty redheaded wife.

Not much to complain about, really.

Kirei took a deep breath. "I see." This boy was full of bullshit. Why was he even asking for advice if he was going to lie like this? Lie with such conviction that Kirei had actually believed him?

Was he messing with the priest? In that case he had sort of succeeded, though Kirei did not find himself getting angry, he was just confused. What kind of life did this boy even lead? Was he... lying to himself?

Maybe. And normally Kirei would derive great pleasure from tearing those lies down and hopefully breaking someone until they had no choice, but to accept the truth, but... this was a Campione. He couldn't do that. Just as he couldn't tell Gilgamesh he was a delusional arrogant prick out of his time.

So instead he just decided to... not think too hard about it. "Young man, I must confess, I have nothing more to say." That he could say. He actually wanted to say a lot. "If you wish more knowledge in this subject, I advice talking with someone else."

Hopefully someone crazy enough to call a Campione a damn idiot to their face. If nothing else that would be really funny.

Yato smiled. "Gotcha. Thanks for all the help, Kirei." He hadn't been as helpful as Ayako, but he had given his viewpoint like Yato had asked. Overall the boy could not complain.

"There is no need to thank me, but you are welcome nonetheless." He extended his arms. "Now, will you continue your conversation with young Laeticia?" He really wanted to see that saint getting humiliated.

Normal priest stuff.

"I guess there's no escaping it..."

AN: I cannot believe BB Dubai really was just BB. That has to be a new low. This coming from a guy who loves BB above his own life.

Comments

Yato's mental blocks really confuse me. Sometimes he says stuff that normal people would say and sometimes his thoughts are so Yato-ish.

DemiurgeMal

Thanks for the chapter! Yato should just abandon his harem and marry Alice, easy. Aoko will be a family dog

And it once again comes around full circle back to Fakeking's JJK brainrot. Are you Yato Shibata because your a Campione or are you a Campione because your Yato Shibata.
