Fire Emblem Protagonist 05

As soon as they jumped out of the carriage, information flew onto his head once more.

Their enemies were a small group of Wolgarm. There was nothing particularly special about the beasts, its bites did curse people, but that curse was broken when the mabeast died. Considering Wolgarms did not have the intelligence to retreat, it did not matter.

However, there was one Mabeast amongst the bunch that did worry him. It was a Wagpig... a giant looking hippo that was pretty much invincible, but had a weak spot on its belly... Clearly it was the boss of the map.

Priscilla grinned. "Look at that, one of your kind has come to greet us pig. Perhaps you could partake in a discussion with him and convince his group to leave peacefully?" He would convince the Wagpig to eat her!

He sputtered. "S-shut up! That thing is clearly a hippo! Not a damn pig!"

She raised an eyebrow. "What is a hippo...?" They got horse'd!?

Al sighed. "An animal of our world, princess." He drew his sword. "Anyways, I imagine if we kill the Wagpig the rest of the Mabeasts should disperse. Wolgarms aren't smart enough to stalk roads on their own."

So this was a kill boss map huh... Unacceptable! "No need for that, let's just kill every last one of them!" He couldn't resist screaming.

Al winced. "Ugh, you really do not know how to control your voice, cousin." At this point he would be known as the way too loud guy... "That aside, it's better to follow my strategy. If any of them slip and attack Schult, it's gonna be a mess."

Ah, so that's why he wanted to put an end to the fight quickly. "It's fine, my ability has activated. The moment any of them get too close to the carriage, I'll know." He summoned his Rapier. "So let's go for a rout."

Al's answer was to simply look at Priscilla. Since she was their leader so to speak, it was her decision to make.

Thankfully, she was on his side. "I might as well put all these beasts to the sword, since I am here. Mine pig's ability worked just fine during the raid on the village, so I shall trust it." And that was enough for Al.

But just to make sure... "Al, keep close to the carriage. It worst comes to worst, you can make a earth wall for defense." He ordered with his power, more as a test than anything else.

Al slowly nodded. "It really is back at full force huh... I guess entering combat is the condition for it." He went for his position.

And then Heitor began moving towards the mabeasts. "With me, Lady Priscilla! You're the only person here who can damage the Wagpig without specifically aiming at its weakspot!" She would be the boss killer.

For a moment she seemed weirded out by the sudden mental command, but soon she began moving with him. "Yes, yes, you are all worthless and need me to do all the work. I'm coming..." Not totally untrue...

But way too mean!

As soon as they got close to the Wolgarms, he 'equipped' his Rapier.

The honest truth is that he would rather use a lance for this, it felt like it would be easier to keep his distance and still win that way. Alas, he could not Ephraim things, since his system had shown it's limitations.

The Priscilla estate did not have a single lance that could be classfied as a E-Rank weapon. So he could not use any of these lances... Not that he couldn't grab them and swing them around, but the skill that typically came with a Weapon Rank simply did not work in that situation.

So if he wished to wield a lance in the future, he would first need to find a Bronze Lance. Somehow.

For now, he only had his trusty sword, which he used to take the head off a Wolgarm. "I really am considerably faster..." Was it his status increase? His skill activating? Or maybe a Support Bonus since Priscilla was close?

He didn't really know, but it was nice.

Priscilla summoned her Yang Sword Vollachia. "You mumble to yourself in the middle of battle?" And swung the thing around, the fire that it released was enough to kill more than three mabeasts at once.

So in a quick showing she quickly put him in his place. It would make him a bit sad, if not for the quick appearance of hearts above her head that looked almost humorous.

He sighed. "Sorry." And then moved to attack the next Mabeast.

This time, both Priscilla and him, aimed at the same one. Thankfully she had enough control to not accidentally kill him as well.

And like that, all happiness he had felt so far disappeared. "W-what a horrible level up..." Did the RNG gods forsake him already!? Damn it, when he saw that on his screen he was expecting a reward! Not a punishment!

Priscilla glared at him. "You are mumbling to yourself right after apologizing?" Even as she talked, she destroyed more Mabeasts.

Stealing precious, limited EXP.

He did not have the heart to apologize again. "Let's just end this." At this point the only thing remaining was the boss.

He did not know why the Wagpig had remained behind. Maybe it was smart enough to let his minions tire up the scary people or something? Or perhaps it was just following Fire Emblem boss protocol like a good boy.

Either way, it let Heitor and Priscilla to approach him in any way that they please.

And apparently, the way that pleased Priscilla was by launching herself like a fucking rocket at the poor monster. He was hit hard enough that he fell over, that supposed invincibility of his proving to be completely false.

Heitor took this opportunity to jump atop of it, guided by his surprisingly high skill, and stab it on the belly.

The beast gave one final groan... and stopped moving.

That was much better... kind of.

Priscilla smiled. "Fine work, pig. You almost looked like a real knight of Lugunica for a moment." Funny, she never once looked like a real heroine.

When they finally arrived at the gates of the capital, Heitor was feeling almost sleepy.

Not because the ride had been overly long, but because the ride had been overly boring! The fight with the Mabeasts had been the only entertainment he had! Especially since due to Yae not coming with them, he really had nobody to talk with.

Priscilla and Aldeberan seemed much less annoyed by this than him though. He supposed that was just them being already used to such things. As a man of the modern era, Heitor demanded to be constantly entertained!

At least the ride was finally over...

Still, as the left it, Heitor had to hold back an yawn. He wouldn't want to embarass poor Priscilla in front of the knights that had come to greet her.

One of them bowed, and kiss her extended hand. "Welcome to the capital, Lady Priscilla. It is an honor to be in your presence." He definitely knew she was a princess.

Or at least that's what Heitor was guessing. Was such an welcome extended to any person who visited the capital? Definitely not. But it could maybe be given to any important noble.

Priscilla smiled. "Charmed. Now, will you allow us passage, or will you keep wasting my precious, and very limited time."

For a moment the knight flinched, surprised by her... explosive personality. "M-my apologies Lady Priscilla. We would never forbid your entrance of course, although we would like to escort you."

He continued. "The Council has prepared a hotel for you... and your companions. Naturally that hotel will be guarded by the finest knights of the kingdom." Okay, this guy definitely knew she was a candidate.

Priscilla scowled. "Very well, but let us be quick. I wish to visit this city's shops later." She wasn't gonna immediately go to sleep...?

Hopefully she wouldn't drag him with her...

Once again, the knight seemed shocked at her response. "Y-you wish to explore the city milady? Um... if that is the case, we will prepare a squadron to guard you, but it will take someti—."

Priscilla cut him off. "No need for that. My own group of bodyguard shall be more than enough."

Aldeberan immediately interjected. "Actually princess, I'm with the guy. There ain't a place more dangerous for a lady than the capital." Heitor couldn't deny that.

If he was a street rat, he would rob the shit out of Priscilla.

She rolled her eyes. "I do not care Al." An expected answer. Honestly there was no point in arguing with her, even if she got said no, she would just sneak out anyways.

That was just who Priscilla Barielle was, for better or for worse. And typically for worse.

Her gaze shifted back to the knight. "That is my decision, do you understand?"

"B-but milady, the Council..." What a fool! Showing fear in front of Priscilla was like showing fear in front of a tiger! He was just begging to be eaten.

Priscilla scowled. "Soon I shall rule over the Council. Tell me, who are you going to listen to, those old men, or your king?" She hadn't won yet! The Selection had literally not even started!

But she said it with such conviction, that the knight was practically hypnotized. "To you milady. I should listen to you." Either that, or he had just been scared into complying.

One of the two.

Once again he had found himself resting at a balcony.

Not because he wished to clear his head and contemplate how scary being isekai'd was, but because he wanted to hide away from Priscilla! She wanted go go shopping! She was already hell incarnate in normal situations! How worse would shopping make her!?

So yeah, he was hiding. Priscilla would never give up on a idea of hers, but maybe she would deem finding him a waste of time, and then just go with Al, and maybe Schult.

And sure, that meant leaving those two to a dark fate alone, but... Al was a traitor, and Priscilla tended to be genuinely nice to Schult. So surely things would be fine?

You have triggered a Support Event.

Oh no.

He immediately grit his teeth, not even looking at the new arrival. "Hey Aldeberan..." His 'cousin' was definitely gonna snitch him to Priscilla! This was the worst!

"Look at me before you speak, pig." Ah, it was way worse than just Aldeberan!

He turned around and flinched. "S-sorry Lady Priscilla, I made a wrong assumption." He was so stressed that for a moment his brain had actually started thinking every balcony conversation would be an Al one!

Which in his defense, was not uncommon for Fire Emblem. There were many Supports that took place all in the same set piece... To save money of course. Can't make a whole new place for every conversation.

She huffed. "You're forgiven..." She leaned against the balcony's fence. "I'll be taking you as my bodyguard during my shopping." Damn it... "I will expect an immediate warning should your ability activate."

He nodded. "Of course, Lady Priscilla."

Though he wasn't sure it would if it was a sneak attack. There had been Fire Emblem chapters in the past focused on stopping assassins, but he didn't want to gamble on that. Especially since he feared the dreaded cutscene death.

She squinted her eyes, glaring at the city. "That ability of yours... I must say, stumbling on it was quite the fortune." She was genuinely praising him!? Was this Priscilla an alien that had assassinated the original one!?

What a cool alien. Jokes aside, this was sadly probably some Support niceness.

Strangely enough, there was almost a hint of sadness in her eyes. "I wonder... would such an ability have turned the tides my way during that conflict...?" She shook her head. "No, Priscilla Barielle does not worry about the past."

He awkwardly raised a hand. "Sorry, conflict?" Asking him to elaborate on something mysterious was also classic Support behavior!

She looked away, in a surprising show of vulnerability. "It was..." After a moment, her confidence returned. "The truth is that this is not the first Selection for a throne I have parten in."

Seriously!? Did chances to become a monarch grow on threes!?

She suddenly summoned her sword. "This blade... The Yang Sword Vollachia. It is something that can only be wielded by those who have the blood of the Emperor of Vollachia. You understand where I'm going with this, do you not?"

He almost chocked on his spit. "You're Vollachian nobility...!" Who was running for the throne of the biggest rival of Vollachia!

What the hell!? Was that even allowed!?

She had the gall to giggle. "Indeed, I am, my father was the previous emperor. Do you understand now? How the world showers love upon me?" Now he actually couldn't deny it.

To have been born as a possible empress, and then somehow be chosen as a possible king of another nation as well was just too crazy. It was lot of protagonism even for Fire Emblem standards!

Could it be that she was the real lord here!?

Suddenly her giggling stopped. "Although perhaps I shouldn't say that, not when I have lost the throne of Vollachia." Even so...

Heitor scratched his cheek. "Even if you say that, I'm sure Vincent Vollachia would love to help his relative take the throne of Lugunica." He was the current emperor. A shrewd and intelligent man, supposedly.

"Perhaps he would, but he cannot admit I am alive, least he lose his throne." Huh? "As far as Vollachia... and Lugunica is concerned, I... the person who was once called Prisca Benedict is as dead as they come."

Wait, so it was a secret that she was a possible empress...? So people didn't know a Vollachian Princess was running for the Throne!? And that Vollachian princess was waving essentially the Vollachian Falchion around with no care in the world!?

By Naga, she really was the real protagonist!

He didn't even know where to start unpacking that. "Prisca Benedict... Does that mean Priscilla is a fake name?"

She scowled. "No. It is a simple as Prisca having been defeated and killed, and then she was replaced with Priscilla." Sounded like severe trauma talk to him...

She continued. "You must be wondering why Prisca is even known as a dead woman in the first place..." He assumed it was so 'Priscilla' could run for king. "The truth is that the emperor of Vollachia is chosen in quite the brutal fashion, at least by soft Lugunican standards."

She bit her lip. "It is chosen through battle... through war really. But not due to being outmatched, it was due to betrayal."

Anger was clear in her face. "Dear Vincent managed to convince my closest attendant... someone that I saw as a sister, that his victory was inevitable. She betrayed me, ruined everything, and in exchange I was allowed to be reborn as Priscilla."

She crossed her arms. "In essence, that idiot traded my chances at victory, for my life. Arakiya was always foolish, but it was such a stupid act that I did not see it coming."

Yeah, he could almost smell the trauma. "So... you hate her? Your brother, and your attendant?"

She huffed, genuinely offended. "Of course not. My brother did as he ought to do, and even to the end he was cordial and kind to me. The truth is that he was the only sibling of mine who ever tried to act as a sibling should."

She bit her nail. "Although his disrespect in simply taking my name as Prisca, and not truly taking my life is not appreciated." What did she even want...!?

"And about Arakiya... my attendant..." At this point her anger had disappeared, replaced by melancholy. "She is an idiot, and in the end she showed no true loyalty when she failed to believe in mine incoming victory... but as the woman who I consider to be my sister, I forgive her. She is still blessed with mine love."

Oh. "So... it's all good between you and them? No hard feelings?"

"No hard feelings." She blushed. "I do get... nightmares of that time occasionally, but that shameful behavior is mine own fault. But I cannot blame mine siblings for seeking my head, as it was only to be expected." So there were definitely hard feelings!

She was just too prideful to admit it!

A smirk appeared on her face. "Especially since I have yet to truly lose to my dear brother. He better not be too comfortable with that throne of his..."

Heitor tilted his head. "You literally lost though."

She stepped on his foot. "I never lose!"

"O-ouch!" Talking with this woman was impossible! "What do you even plan on doing!?"

"It is not obvious? First I shall take the throne of Lugunica by quill, and then I shall take the throne of Vollachia by sword." She burst out laughing. "Priscilla Barielle, the woman who unified kingdom and empire... Yes, no nation is worthy of mine rule, but perhaps two shall be."

"O-oh..." That was crazy! Horrible! Thousands would die for her greed!

And it totally sounded like the plot of a Fire Emblem story too! A princess going to a foreign nation, gathering forces, and then reclaiming her birthright!? He could totally buy Intelligent Systems coming up with that plot!

"Oh indeed. And naturally, I shall expect your aid in the coming endeavors." She held him by the cheek. "If your loyalty does not falter like my assistant's once did, one day you might even be known as one of Vollachian's Divine Generals. Does that make you happy?"

He sighed. "I... I will go where my heart goes. If that's by your side, then so be it." That is to say, if being by her side was the way to keep his heart beating...

Then sure. Otherwise, fuck that.

"Of course it will be by my side. I was gifted you by the world, my most skilled piggy general." This woman... "However... should you get any funny ideas... Do make sure to remember that I have not hesitated to kill mine own brothers and sisters in the past."

"I will not hesitate to do much worse to a piggy. No matter how cute, understood?" He slowly nodded.

Support Event over. Priscilla's B-Rank Support Achieved!

Fuck loyalty! He was definitely gonna dip eventually!
