Fire Emblem Protagonist 19
Added 2024-11-15 16:35:08 +0000 UTC"Good morning Sir Julius."
After his talk with Crusch, Heitor went around taking care of the mansion. Eventually, stumbling onto the Finest Knight, who was training nice and early by using a blunt sword.
The knight smiled at him. "Good morning... I'm surprised you are dressed as a butler."
Heitor tilted his head. "Well, I'm dressed as one, because I am one." It's just that he also knew how to kick some major ass!
Julius nodded. "Fair enough, but I must confess that I thought of you as something more of... a hired sword, a mercenar. Seeing you clean and cook after leading us through those past battles would be quite strange..."
Heitor shrugged. "I sew too, but I understand your point." He scratched his cheek. "I'm just glad to have a job at all though... Like I said before, I come from beyond the Great Waterfall, so I have no connections here."
Being a butler was way better than being homeless, that was for sure.
Julius chuckled. "And I still find that hard to believe." Geez, hadn't they fought together enough for him to gain some trust at this point!? "What I do believe however, are your skills."
He continued. "If it wouldn't be much of a bother, how about having a spar with me, Heitor? Training with a friend is far more effective than training alone."
You have triggered a Support Event.
Ah, so it was one of these huh?
Heitor entered the arena. "I guess I have a bit of time to spare." He picked up a blunt sword, and got into position. "Come at me when you're ready."
Julius smirked. "I was about to say the same to you." Now however, the ball was on Julius' court, so he made the first move.
As far as Heitor could tell, his attacks were perfect, still, he managed to defend himself from the Finest Knight for a decent while. Mostly because the man wasn't serious, this was just a sparring match at the end of things.
But... it did sting a little. Heitor already knew that Julius was a better swordsman even after his Rank went to C, but seeing it was another thing completely.
Before long, he got overwhelmed, and his sword flew off his hands. "Welp, I yield."
"That was a nice match." Receiving a compliment from the Finest Knight certainly felt nice, but Heitor had a feeling he would say that to anybody.
What a slut!
Julius continued. "You are quite skilled. Were you a warrior back in your world...? Assuming that talk of being beyond the Great Waterfall is true of course."
Heitor scratched his cheek. "Nope... Well, I was part of the military for a while, but I didn't do much. My skill comes from my weird ability."
For a moment... Julius looked jealous? "I see. It is quite the versatile thing."
Heitor, noticing that, tried to smooth over the conversation. "You're a pretty amazing guy too. Being contracted to six different spirits... it makes me feel like you're invincible."
Julius chuckled. "I'm flattered, but I'm certainly very, very vincible, in fact, I..." He raised a hand, looking at it. "Nevermind. I shall keep trying to best the best knight I can possibly be. That is my duty."
Heitor nodded. "I guess that's the duty of all knights... but I feel like there's some extra pressure on you. Why's that?" As usual, since this was a Support Event, he would do some light prodding.
Julius sighed. "Because... I don't actually come from noble blood."
Heitor gasped. "Y-you don't!?" He didn't expect that from Julius of all people!
The knight frowned. "Yes, I'm actually adopted... To receive such an opportunity for one born in a low station is a blessing that cannot be understated. Which is why I must not bring shame upon my family, only honor."
Well, considering that they killed Sloth, Julius was sure to bring lots of honor and glory to his family.
The knight continued. "There is a saying in Kararagi, the nail that sticks out, gets hammered down." Those thieves! That was just a Japanese saying!
Julius looked down. "It rings very true, be it for nobility or for a commoner. That is to say, I must be quite the weird nail." He bowed. "And so are you, which is why I apologize."
Heitor's eyes widened. "Huh? Where did that come from?"
"Isn't it obvious? Back in the Royal Selection, I..." He grit his teeth. "I couldn't help but agree with your words, but even so... this supposed chivalry of mine, it..."
"Ah, so that's what this is about." Heitor shrugged. "Don't worry about it, I get it, sometimes you just gotta do what your job tells you to do. Though I am glad someone was secretly on my side back then." Besides Priscilla that is.
"Right... Thank you for your understanding." Julius didn't seem convinced. In fact, he seemed outright ashamed of himself.
Support Event over. Julius' C-Rank Support Achieved!
What kind of Support ended like that!?
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
After doing a few tasks, and training with Julius, Heitor had builded up some sweat. Since smelling bad in the Barielle estate was basically a crime punishable by death, Heitor headed to the baths.
Priscilla had many of them. One for her exclusive use of course, but there was also one for male servants, and one for female servants... all of them being heated up by fire crystals. It was kind of amazing, but also kind of depressing, since the amount of money that went into it could probably fix a minor famine.
Though this time he couldn't blame Priscilla for that. Heitor was pretty sure it had been built before she even showed up to the place.
As he entered the bath, he noticed that he wasn't alone. "Ah, yo Sir Ferris!" It wasn't unusual for the bath to be shared between multiple people of course, so he wasn't shocked.
The Blue waved at him. "Hello, nyah!" He was almost purring...
Heitor was hoping he could relax like that, but cold dark reality suddenly hit him like a truck.
You have triggered a Support Event.
"By the way Heitor, can I talk with you about something?" Oh boy. Hopefully this would just be a nice Support without any big drama.
Heitor sent him a thumbs up. "Of course. What's up?"
The Blue squinted his eyes. "I'm just wanna warn you about something... Lady Crusch seems pretty interested in you." Did she now? Well, they had fought side-by-side multipled times at this point.
If nothing else, he considered her a friend. It also helped that constant embarrassing situations aside, she was much easier to handle than Priscilla and Emilia, both who felt like ticking time bombs sometimes.
His eyes gained a glared. "If you abuse that interest to hurt her... Well, just think of what a medic can do to you, nyah!" Did he really have to threaten him while smiling!?
Well, Heitor wasn't scared. Priscilla had raised his tolerance to such things. "You guys sure are close. Don't worry, I'll try my best to not disappoint her."
The Blue smiled. "That's what I like to hear... You're right when you say we are close, to me Lady Crusch is... my everything." That sure sounded unhealthy!
But maybe that was just him being too much of a cynic. Besides, from the blush the Blue was spotting, it was probably just a crush or something. A stupid thing when he was a knight, and she was a duchess, but people were allowed to dream.
So Heitor chuckled, and winked at the night. "I see. Good luck then, I'll be cheering for you." Hopefully the knight wouldn't ever learn of how he got a glimpse of Crusch's tits. That would definitely lead to a bad end.
The knight's blush got fiercer. "W-what is that supposed to mean, cheering for what!?"
Heitor just looked away and kept chuckling. There was no need to say anything really, hell, Felix' reaction had pretty much confirmed his crazy little theory.
Naturally, Felix saw this as mockery... probably because it was. "Hey, do I really need to go into details about what a user of Water Magic can do!? Because I will, nyah!"
Heitor smirked. "Yeah, yeah... I'm all ears." He covered his ears.
Support Event over. Felix' C-Rank Support Achieved!
That was a lot less stressful than he had expected. How nice.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
"Ah! Whatta—!" After leaving the bath, and getting dressed, Heitor almost had a heart attack, immediately making him stressed.
Someone had suddenly hugged him from behind, and...! "Go~od morning!" Ah, it was just Emilia, nothing too serious.
He took a deep breath. "Lady Emilia... please do not jump on me suddenly like that. For a moment I almost thought I was under attack."
She simply hugged him tighter, and whispered on his ear, making him shiver. "Um? I thought you ability would warm him of any sudden attacks?"
He desperately escaped her grasp. "I sure hope that is the case, but you never know. Maybe one day my power could fail."
In fact, that's partly why he had freaked out so much at this. He had become so used with dealing with the expected, that the unexpected had a extra hint of terror to it. Heitor supposed that was just the downside of an ability like his.
Emilia, looking a bit disappointed that he had escaped her hug, pouted. "I don't think it will. You're su~per reliable, Heitor." She seemed pretty relaxed.
And that immediately wiped out his stress once again. It did good for his heart to see her so happy after what she had gone through.
"That's nice to hear... Anyways, did you need me for something, Lady Emilia?" He was working as a butler right now, so he had to make the guests comfortable.
She smiled. "I just need you." Wow!
That was a lot more forward than he had expected! "F-for what exactly...!?" He started raising fingers. "You need something cleaned? You need something to eat for breakfast? Or maybe you need me to fix a t—."
She hugged him once again. "I don't need any of that stuff, I just want you... Well, a breakfast would be nice too."
R-right, he could do that. "Okay! I'll get right to work... by the way Lady Emilia, has Lady Priscilla woken up too? Should I make something for her?" Though even if she did wake up, maybe he shouldn't.
Priscilla's tastes were a little too refined for his culinary skills. She would definitely spit-up whatever he cooked.
The half-elf pouted, seemingly mad that he brought the baroness up. "She's still sleepy, I think. I'm not sure." So Emilia had gotten up first huh...
He scratched his cheek, and escaped her hug once more. "Got it. Then I'll cook something only for you. Any preferences?"
She shook her head. "I'm sure I'll love whatever you make... although..." She blushed. "I actually hate peppir. Please don't use any." No bell peppers then...
Even cute girls could have awful taste buds, he supposed.
He nodded. "Got it, no peppir." But before he could move to the kitchen, Emilia got close to him once again.
Her face wss completely red. "A-and Heitor, please put a special ingredient on the food." Oh? "L-love." Adorable.
Just way too damn adorable. "And where am I supposed to find that ingredient then?" He couldn't help, but want to tease her a little.
Considering he had done that with Crusch and Felix as well maybe he was becoming some sort of monster.
She looked away. "Y-you can use the love I feel for you..." He could feel it! Another heart attack!
You have triggered a Support Event.
And now he could feel a completely different form of heart attack. Hopefully she wouldn't pass out this time... though even if she didn't, he would need to be careful with her S-Rank from now on. That was... kind of sad.
But it was what it was.
Heitor chuckled, but before he could respond, Emilia shouted. "I love you!"
Well, she had pretty much said that in the past, but the half-elf seemed incredibly proud of it
So he smiled. "I'm flattere—."
But she cut him off. "A-and I know you probably still don't feel the same, but I felt like I needed to say it." She put her hands on her chest. "I-I don't really know what kind of love it is... and I don't even know what love is."
She continued. "To be honest, it's all very confusing... and strange... and kind of scary..." What kind of love was that!? "B-but I'm certain it's here, right inside of my heart, so I wanted to tell you!"
He too put a hand on his heart. "And I'm incredibly glad you feel that way friend." At least this Support was looking less terrifying than the past ones. Was it time for him to get a break!?
She giggled. "I'm glad..." And then tears started to descend from her eyes. "I'm so, so glad...!"
He immediately panicked. "L-Lady Emilia, are you okay...?" He knew that those were not tears of sadness of course, but considering her past history with Supports, his guard was up.
If she showed any sign of being in pain, he would immediately call for Felix.
"Y-yes, I'm fine, it's just that..." She started try to wipe away her tears, even as more came out. "I never thought I would one day confess my love to someone... and that that someone wouldn't hate me for it...!"
This time, he was the one who hugged her. "Well then... I fully accept your confession, Lady Emilia." Even if it was a bit awkward.
Popularity just came with being a Fire Emblem protagonist.
She kept crying, now on his shoulder. "Thank you...! T-thank you so much! I'll work hard to receive that love back! I promise!"
He pat her back. "And I'll work hard to be worthy of the love you already gave me, although... please do try and love other people as well." He didn't want her to become too reliant on him.
She nodded. "I will...! I will become a king who is loved by the people, a-and by her friends!" So in the end this talk had strengthened her resolve to become king?
Heitor didn't know how to feel about that, and it wasn't just because of Priscilla now having a fiercer rival. It was also because people could be fickle... if one day they—.
No, he shouldn't think about bad what ifs. He should just trust in her strength, that was something that she clearly needed a bit more in her life, considering how Puck acted. Besides, she did tell him she would work hard!
So instead of trying to give her more advice, he just hugged her tighter. "That's good to hear, Lady Emilia."
After sometime, she recomposed herself, and he ended the hug.
Emilia puffed up her chest. "T-thank you for listening to me! I'll be counting on your support from now on! Both as a woman, and as a future king!"
He grinned. "Feel free to. I'll give you as much as I can... Well, as much as a servant of the Barielle can."
Support Event over. Emilia's A-Rank Support Achieved!
That... that... didn't end in tragedy, or with some big revelation. Hell, it didn't even told him something he didn't know... It was just Emilia affirming her resolve to him, and perhaps to herself too.
That made him way too happy. Emilia deserved to have a emotional conversation that didn't shatter someone's world for once.
Emilia giggled. "Geez, don't bring up other girls when someone is confessing their love to you."
He put his hands on his hips, and exaggeratedly sighed. "Didn't you say it wasn't explicitly romantinc love? Maybe you're just my little sister. So bringing up Lady Priscilla should be more than fine."
She huffer. "Little? I'm definitely wa~y older than you. I could be your grandma even! No, your grandma's grandma!" Her eyes suddenly widened. "Actually, please forget that, I wish I hadn't said it."
"You got it." Elves were really long lived... and if Emilia was truly Satella, than she was over four hundred years old. "We can decided what type of love you feel another day... though to be honest, we don't even need to decide in the first place."
He continued. "There is nothing wrong with love being a mystery."
She stared right onto his eyes. "Even so, I would like to figure it out someday..."
An uncomfortable amount of time began passing, without Emilia taking her eyes off him for a second. Considering what she had just done, Heitor didn't exactly know when to back off either. Thankfully, a hero came to his rescue.
Yae, who cleared her throat. "Sorry, am I interrupting something...?"
Emilia jumped in place. "Um...! This... um...!"
Heitor just laughed however. "Lady Emilia was just asking for me to prepare her some breakfast. No peppirs though... Oh, and it needs a secret ingredient of some sort."
The half-elf, with teary eyes, protest. "H-Heitor, please don't tell her what we just talked about...!" Her shyness was just adorable.
Yae grinned. "Don't worry Lady Emilia, I ain't gonna pry." The maid had undoubtedly noticed by Emilia's reddened eyes that she had been crying before, and decided not to pry.
Although... some of it may be due to the fear the maid felt. She hid it well, but since Heitor was her friend, he could notice the slight uncomfortableness she felt when near the half-elf.
The maid sighed. "Though I'm gonna have to take over the cooking duty..."
Heitor raised an eyebrow. "Why is that?" He wasn't the greatest cook, but he wasn't awful either, not even close to it! He could make something for the half-elf no problemo!
The maid paled. "Because... well... Lady Priscilla is calling you Heitor. Only you."
He put a hand to his chin. "So she finally woke up huh?" This was bad... Could the S-Rank event finally be here!?
Yae shook her head. "She has been awake for a while..." She paled. "Even asked me to dress her up and do her make-up... I don't know what's going on, but you might be in serious trouble Heitor."
He paled. "But..." Emilia had lied to him! The half-elf was now even awkwardly recoiling to herself... "Priscilla always cared about things like that. This is nothing different." Y-yeah...
Yae looked away. "I know, but this time... there was something different about this time... She asked me to bring her wine..."
The normally cheerful maid looked conflicted. "I think it's pretty obvious where this is going, but... just remember that there's nothing she can do if you just say no, Heitor."
She pinched her nose. "Lady Priscilla, all her faults aside, isn't normally the type of girl who does things like this, so I'm sure you will be fine. Probably." Why did she have to add that!?
Emilia scrunched her eyebrows together. "Sorry, but what is going on here? I don't think I understand." Despite her newly acquired knowledge of sex, she didn't get it huh?
It was clear what Yae was implying, Priscilla was calling him over to fuck his brains out...
The maid was completely wrong though, and if it was really just sex Heitor would probably even go along with it, even if a employer sleeping with their emplyoee was messed up...
But the truth was that Priscilla didn't want him to penetrate her with his dick, she wanted him to penetrate a ring with his finger! For the rest of his life!
Yae awkwardly chuckled. "Don't worry Lady Emilia..." She grabbed her hand and began taking her away. "Let's go. I'll make you a really nice breakfast."
"B-but—." Emilia was given no quarter.
Just as Heitor would be given no mercy. Running away from this would just create complications later, so... It was time to face the music.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
He had thought that, but as soon as arrived at her door, he froze. "Damn it..." This was way too scary.
It's not like Heitor was afraid of a relationship, he had been in a few in the past. The problem was that word... marriage. It was a scary one for obvious reasons, and a mistake generated by it couldn't easily be fixed.
So he started thinking of other ways this would go... Maybe something as scary as marriage wouldn't happen at all? There were times in the franchise where a S-Rank was pretty much a platonic thing. There were tons in Fire Emblem Engage, as an example.
Besides, maybe that S-Rank thing wouldn't happen at all? When Supports were originally introduced they didn't even exist... So perhaps he was worrying about nothing.
And even if they did exist, what is to say Heitor had actually reached the threshold for one? Or alternately, what is to say he would be forced into one? In the games, you were given plenty of warning before making such a big decision after all...
Using those arguments to build up his courage, Heitor lightly knocked on the door. "Lady Priscilla, you've asked for me?"
Her answer came surprisingly quickly. "I did. Enter." She sounded cold. Was that a sign he was over thinking things?
He took a deep breath and entered.
You have triggered a Support Event.
Or maybe he wasn't over thinking it at all!
Priscilla pointed at a table. "Piggy, sit." Her expression was strangely cold as well...
But she looked beautiful, even more beautiful than she already normally did. Yae had been right, she had put extra effort on her appearance. Or at least paid people to put extra effort.
Heitor, with much struggle shifted his eyes from her, and looked at the table. "Drinking this early in the morning, Lady Priscilla?" The wine Yae had talked about was on top of that table...
And that wine probably cost a mansion. But Priscilla was just like that, as the fact that her room was big enough to fit a table in it showed.
Priscilla rolled her eyes. "I may drink whenever I want, it does not matter." It definitely matters. "Besides, I was planning on doing this at night, but I could not wait..." Her face flushed red for a moment.
Heitor raised an eyebrow. "Um?" Since her cold facade broke for a second, he naturally focused on it.
Just what was her game here? This was not going like he had expected to.
She scowled. "Follow my order, piggy." And like that, her cold demeanor returned.
Heitor acquiasced, and Priscilla followed him, sitting in front. He nervously awaited as she opened, and filled a cup of wine for each... That was unlike her. Normally she would ask a servant like him to do such a task.
"Drink." As soon as that was done, she went right back to giving orders to him.
It almost felt like he was dealing with a yakuza or something. "If you're ordering me to, Lady Priscilla..." He normally didn't like drinking, but this wasn't something that he could refuse.
As he took a sip however, Priscilla's blush returned for but a moment. "Remove the lady."
He almost chocked on his wine. "S-sorry, what?" It wasn't anything crazy, but coming from someone like her...
"I said to not refer to me as Lady Priscilla anymore... Priscilla will suffice." Was this just a natural evolution due to a bigger Support Rank?
Would he now be called Heitor! "V-very well... But I'm a servant, people might frown at that." It would definitely be seen as a show of weakness. Though that was something that only Priscilla would really care about.
The truth is that Heitor had just gotten used to the lady part. It would be weird to drop it.
"I don't care about that... besides, you shan't be a servant for much longer. That butler outfit looks dreadful on you." The only thing more terrifying than marriage, unemployment!
Seriously. "I... Lady—... Priscilla, can I ask what you called me for already?"
She suddenly slap the table. "Let things move at their own pace, fool!" It was then that he noticed something, as her cold demeanor returned shortly after that outburst.
Priscilla was insanely nervous...
Normally she could hide anxiety with a dose of confidence, because she herself was already confident. So the fact that instead of doing that, she chose to hide her emotions in general... It was like a extra level Priscilla. A super Priscilla.
She let out a sigh. "But I suppose you are correct." She got, silently walked across the room, opened a drawer... and took a small box from it. "Here. Open it" Sitting back, she put the box on the table.
He carefully did as he was ordered, acting as if it was a bomb... and what he found was...
"L-lady Priscilla, this...!" A ring. A very expensive looking ring.
She was proposing wasn't she? All those little theories of his had immediately disappeared under the tempting truth.
She crossed her arms. "Drop the lady!" Of course he returned to the status quo when he got surprised! "And... and..."
She put a hand on her chest. "Propose to me." Huh?
"Sorry?" He blinked in confusion for a few moments.
Her facade broke. "I ordered you to propose to me. We will be getting married..." She nodded to herself. "Which is why you shan't be a common servant anymore. You shall be Lord Barielle, mine husband."
He gasped. "That's...!" He knew this was coming of course, but he didn't expect her to be so prideful she would force him to propose!
And... wasn't that logic kind of crazy? She had taken the Barielle name when she married Leip Barielle, and now he was supposed to take that name too? It almost felt like cucking a ghost...
Her eye twitched. "Close your mouth. This what you wanted, is it not?" N-not particularly...! "All mine traits are sublime, so you may count yourself as the luckiest man in the planet and propose. I will not say no, since I lov—." She shook her head. "I will not say no."
Almost as if by instinct, he tried slipping his way out of the situation. "W-wait, I'm pretty sure marriage isn't allowed when you're a candidate...!" It could happened after the Royal Selection, but not during it.
He didn't understand why exactly, but it was a rule... Maybe that was the Council's way of not letting a candidate amass too much power? The existence of the Fire Emblem already showed that they had a tremendous amount of it.
She huffed, slowly she was actually becoming more confident, so her mask was permanently coming off. "As if I would ever care about what those men think."
She laughed. "In fact, I have now decided we shall stage our marriage party in the capital itself!"
She was as crazy as usual, but... "Wait, so this is more of... a fiance and fiancee thing, right?" This crazy talk actually... actually got to make him think more of this.
Before he was just putting it off his mind, hoping that it wouldn't come true, but if it wasn't outright marriage, then... Would it be so bad? Priscilla was crazy and a bitch yes, but he wouldn't mind staying by her side.
She waved him off. "Of course not. As soon as you put the ring on my finger, I shall give you the papers to sign, and I will also have a priest of the Divine Dragon observe us..."
It was kind of crazy, but she did have a priest around at all times, just as she had a small little church for Volcanica. Priscilla wasn't particularly religious, but such a thing wasn't uncommon for a noble... especially one that liked to flaunt her wealth.
So she meant what she was currently talking about. "Before we head off to the capital, we will get married. It will all be done before the night falls."
This... this was too much. Even if he was head over heels for Priscilla, which he absolutely wasn't, this would be too much.
But... he did have some responsibility for this, so... "M-marriage is too much, Priscilla, but—."
She stopped him. "I will listen to whatever inane babble you are about to sprout, but before you shame yourself remember something..." She blushed and looked away. "No husband of mine stutters."
His eye twitched. "M-m-m-marriage i-is t-too m-m-much—." He couldn't resist.
She kicked the table, lifting it for a bit. The wine glass almost met a horrible fate. "Do not test me! I've lost husbands in the past, I'm willing to lose another!" As expected, this relationship would suc—.
"But..." She avoided his eyes like the plague. "I would have to follow this one, so do not bring such twisted fate upon us." Her words were more twisted than anything he could do!
But also... sort of sweet... as it usually was the case with Priscilla.
It was only natural the most perfect of roses would have a thorn or two, he supposed.
He sighed. "Look... marriage is just... too much. It's not something you can take it back... no, it's something that is way too messy to take it back." Actually, in this world it might genuinely something permanent, he didn't know if divorce was a thing.
She looked more confused than anything else. "So...?"
"So it's not something that should be done impulsively." Maybe if he got this through her head, she would snap out of it? "A person should know another for years before even thinking about marriage."
That was just common sense... And he had seen what a rushed marriage could do to people. He wasn't about to put himself in the same spot willy-nilly.
A blush appeared on his face. "Now, if you wanna... date me, that's a lot more reasonable." Still way above his paygrade, but he would put up with it.
She scoffed. "You wish for us to court each other?" Yes...? What was crazy about that? "Impossible you fool. You already throughly captured my heart, it would be a complete waste of time."
He sputtered. "Don't say things like that out of nowhere...!" Somehow this Priscilla was more dangerous than the murderous one. "And I'm serious about you needing to put more thought on this."
She growled. "Then it is a good thing that I'm simply the blushing bride, and you the man who is proposing." She was going to go ahead with this. "Let me make something very clear, piggy... No, Heitor. You are mine property."
She continued. "One that I value far more than mine jewels, or mine kingdom...! One with the same value as mine heart...! But property nonetheless! You cannot say no to this!"
He got up from his chair. "I can though!"
Normally he would just go with whatever lunacy Priscilla had in mind, but this was too much. For both her sake, and his sake, he had to put his foot down. He would not marry this woman, he would convince her to date him instead!
For a second he... heard something strange coming from Priscilla. Something that just didn't fit her at all. It was...
It was quickly replaced with anger however. "You seem to be losing your temper. Perhaps a brief stint in the dungeons would fix you?"
He immediately paled. "You... you would throw me in the dungeons over this?" He didn't even know she had fucking dungeons! Though he wasn't exactly surprised at it...
She clenched her fists. "You are forcing mine hands! But worry not, I shan't mistreat you. Yae shall take care of your needs while I'm gone..." She regretted those words as soon as she said them. "But not in a pervert way! I expect loyalty from mine husband!"
The thought didn't even pass through his mind. "Are you seriously caring about that, and not the dungeon...!?"
She too got up from her chair. "What would you have me do!? This...! This...!" She sobbed. That was what she had shown earlier, a sob. "This is not going how it was supposed to."
It... certain wasn't.
Heitor let out a frustrated groan, and sat back on the chair. "Damn it... fuck...!" What the hell was he doing. "I... I... damn it, I'll give you the stupid ring! But don't go expecting any apologies."
Her tears immediately disappeared, as she sat down. "A wise decision, piggy." Hah?
Hah!? "Hey, what the hell! You looked like you were about to burst into tears a second ago!" Even her normal mood swings weren't this crazy!
She laughed. "As if I... as if I would cry...!" Her smile was strangely shaking. "I was simple showing you your foolishness. Considering you ran to mine side so quickly, you love me, no?"
It was then that he realized something... Those tears, they were both fake and real.
And about what she had said... love... No, it wasn't love. He just knew this was his responsibility. "Just give me your stupid finger already." But even beyond responsibility, this might be indeed a wise decision.
A player could only S-Rank one character in Fire Emblem, so picking Priscilla would eliminate future frustrations. He would be able to hang out with Emilia, or any other future A-Rank, without fearing sudden marriage.
She pouted. "Piggy, that is not how a proposal works. Be delicate." She was asking too much of him.
But fine... he would comply. "Okay then... More delicate... I will try." He took the ring from the box. "Priscilla Barielle... would you spend the rest of your life by my side... as my wife?"
If his heart had stopped during Emilia's B-Rank, then his heart right now was the complete reverse of that. He was pretty sure he was pumping blood faster than any other man in history.
She extended her hand. "I would."
With great care he slid the ring onto her finger. "There you go then." And shackled himself to her.
She stared at the ring with a sense of accomplishment. "Piggy, I..."
He was doing the best to hide the blush on his face. "You what?" Now all that was left was signing the papers and showing them to the priest. But even so, at this point there was no coming back.
"I..." Her face became as red as her eyes. "How strange. I am not the type to hesitate when it comes to confessing mine love, I do it to warriors, to mine country, even to Schult, and yet for some reason saying I love you to mine own husband is oh so difficult."
Heitor scratched his cheek. "Don't lose your head over it." It didn't really matter, seeing as she didn't propose... force those guys to propose to her.
So Heitor was still winning.
She huffed. "I will lose my head over it. Please do take this as me not caring for you, it's just that..." She put a hand to her cheek. "It's something much more meaningful when it comes to you. Throwing it around casually would be a disservice, so I need to raise mine courage."
They stayed silent for a few moments, staring at each other's eyes.
Eventually Priscilla started trying to raise that courage she talked about. "I-I l-lo—."
But even in a moment like this, he couldn't miss such a great opportunity to see her flustered. "No wife of mine stutters."
With an angry look in her face, she pulled him into a kiss.
It was different from the previous one, much more passionate. Though Priscilla showed that in this type of kiss she actually lacked experience, desperately throwing herself into it, but letting her lover guide her.
And it was in the middle of that kiss that she finally confessed. "I love you." It came out muffled considering the situation, but it was undoubtedly sincere.
The kiss ended...
"Say it too." And Priscilla went right back to being mad.
Heitor looked away. "I... I..." Saying that to his... wife, should be easy right? And yet the world didn't come out of his mouth for some unknown reason.
No, he knew why. He knew why he couldn't say it. It wasn't a case like with Emilia, where he simply didn't want to lie, but a case where he was just—.
"Well, it is fine." He was shocked as she continued. "It is clear that you have... some troubled things when it comes to this, so I shall let it pass another time, piggy."
He grinned, feeling grateful. "Should you really be calling your husband piggy?"
She giggled. "You are mine husband, I will call you whatever I please." Fair enough. "Although... if it bothers you, would you prefer something more manly? Boar perhaps?"
That sounded even worse. "Let's just stick to piggy then, though I would honestly prefer if you just called me by my name." And he didn't mean it just as a one-off thing.
She smirked. "Mayhaps one day." So never.
But just in case, he should probably start trying to work towards such a ludicrous goal.
So he gently took her hands. "Priscilla... There's somethings I can't say to you, because... I'm scared of doing so, but I do promise you one thing."
He took a deep breath. "Whatever path you want to walk, just illuminate it and I'll walk you there—."
She scrunched her eyebrows together. "Of course you will. That was already your job even before you became mine husband." She couldn't let him have anything, could she?
Ugh... he was going to have tolerate this for the rest of his life. "Yeah, yeah... this time it means more though. Like your whole love talk or whatever."
She took one of his hands, and put it on her cheek. "I know." Then why interrupt him!? Just so she could feel bigger!?
She was just too much.

What kind of mechanic was that!? It wasn't unusual for Fire Emblem to have unique mechanics of course, but this somehow made Engage Rings look sane! Besides, why was this incetivizing him to S-Rank other women!? Could he even do that!?
Priscilla snapped her fingers close to his face. "Mine husband, are you okay?"
He had definitely been spacing out. "I... am fine... It's just that my power, it..." He shook his head. "Nevermind. I just got a new useless ability, that is all." And he said useless because of the type of person Priscilla was.
Would someone like her ever sing a love serenade!? Of course not!
She tilted her head. "A new aspect of your power? It's hard to imagine it being useless..."
Heitor snorted. "Well, are you willing to serenade me with your love? In the middle of a fight?" Because if she wasn't, which she obviously wouldn't be, then it was a worthless mecanic.
Her face once again became red. "I... I love battle, song and dance. I suppose mixing it all up with the one thing I love even above those would be... acceptable."
She was willing to do it!?

2024-11-15 17:18:01 +0000 UTCI'm in two minds about this story. On one hand, I'm happy whenever you update because I really like the story. On the other, I'm pissed off because this seems like a really fun fe game and every chapter makes me want to play it more but I can't because it doesn't exist. So congratulations I suppose but also fuck you
