Android 18 WIP gif
Added 2019-08-01 19:01:01 +0000 UTCWIP progress gif for the 18 Pinup!
This one moved along pretty smoothly! You can see not too much changed from the initial sketch. The hardest part was getting Android 16's pose correct. It's not in this gif but I redrew him a few times before moving on. The idea for the Dragon Ball bead bracelet didn't come about until I started adding color.

Pretty much, yeah. There's other ways to do it, like layer masks, but sometimes it's less work to just be precise.

2019-08-02 22:11:44 +0000 UTCFor the variants, I draw the extra stuff on top in a separate group layer. I'm careful to draw and clean up the edges so it blends into the rest of the lines and color. This is easier to do if I stick to using aliased lineart. For the background, I used a gouache brush on a layer set to the "hard light" blend mode to start, then as I got a feel for the colors I wanted, I saved them and painted normally.

2019-08-02 18:45:46 +0000 UTCWhen it comes to drawing 18's bikini so that it's separate from the body when you do nude variations, what steps do you take to ensure it lines up with the lineart beneath it? Also did you approach coloring the background different from coloring the characters themselves? Just curious.
