[New Files and Build!] We built a working Chainsword!

This absolute monster has been added to the permanent Instant Exclusives folder - which means you can get it no matter when you join the Specialist tier!

Build video here: https://youtu.be/PS1Q-z_CViA
Assembly tutorial here: https://youtu.be/o5T8H8eObvU

This has been a monumental effort here at Galactic Armory, to design a chainsword that is 3 things: Mostly 3D printable, as simple as we can make it, and of course it has to work!

Included with all the 3d files:
- Mechanized and Static version - in case you want a non-functioning version
- The shopping list for materials and tools you'll need
- Built video and 90 minute in-depth mechanical tutorial
- Rendered assembly video
- Bambu Studio Projects
- Part diagram

Like I said, this has been a huge effort for all of GA. From Sergey creating the initial artistic design, Ron's mechanical designing and testing, Tyler's video production, and of course Jamie's painting and finishing. It really showcases the insane amount of talent we have now and is a glimpse into some of the insane projects we have planned for you all!

Check out the build tutorial on Youtube and share with other Warhammer enthusiasts, it would really help us out!

Hope you all enjoy!

just looked at the .3mf file for the static sword and I wonder why is it made with 6 wall loops?

Luke12177

So cool πŸ”₯ Any chance we’ll get a file for a fully assembled version?

Zach

I haven't weighed it but I think it's around 10 lbs

Aaron Hughes

1/2"

Aaron Hughes

We did it in PLA but PETG or other high quality machining filament would work well

Aaron Hughes

Available now in the instant exclusives folder!

Aaron Hughes

Yes

Aaron Hughes

Definitely tempting!

Aaron Hughes

Very cool! A bit above my pay grade though.

QuadBears (Rob)

Ok, does this mean we can expect a working GoW Lancer in the future? πŸ˜€

SH Burkart

Is there a BOM or list of all the parts needed for the electric version?

Mike Blakeney

When and where will the files be available for download?

James Edwards

What is the recommended filament

Marc F

What’s the size/Diameter of the Dowel rod for the Static?

Andy Cats

I was talking about the girth, rather than the length. GA's is much chunkier. And I also agree that $35 is a good price, plus the Alexgeek one will be much cheaper to build, as the components required are cheaper than the ones needed to build the GA one. I love both and each has its own aesthetic.

Rob Clarke

Easy

Aaron Hughes

They're spinning in the correct direction but the camera framerate can make it look like it's going backwards

Aaron Hughes

Super minor nitpick, but the chain is spinning in the wrong direction. The teeth should be digging into whatever you hit with it, not scraping across it. ;)

Steve Dixon

How's 35 € crazy expensive? I swear, some people have a very skewed perspective on how much work goes into creating such things. For 35 € you get roughly 3 kg of filament so you want him to work for free? πŸ˜„

Choque

How heavy is the motorised version once its all built?

Iain MacDonald

I love his work, but his file prices are crazy expensive. They’re almost what I’d expect people to charge for the product and materials πŸ˜‚

CK_32

This is the way

YESSSS this is the one i've been waiting for

Matthew House

I have his files too, backed the project with the all in pledge on Kickstarter. But human scale? The big version is over 1,30 m. I'm not sure how big the version from GA is, but they look similar in size from the pictures. But I agree with you on the "fits the rest of the Space Marine props" part. Will definitely print this one as soon as I'm done with printing all the parts for my Python AMS πŸ˜„

Choque

Working Gears of War chainsaw gun next?

Bryan Freeman

Your version is perfect! Definitely fits in with the rest of the Space Marine props that you have designed so far.

Rob Clarke

Dang son, this is awesome!

Ryan Morrison

We definitely want to iterate and make a smaller version as well!

Aaron Hughes

I have his files and his chainsword is much more 'human' scale. GA's version is much more chonky and appears to be a lot more durable.

Rob Clarke

I am Sooooooo excited!

Kevsteelio

I was looking for something like this for months! Printer is already sweating πŸ˜ƒπŸ€©

Jan N.

Ooof gonna be an awesome project!

Celenia

I just learned about his page a few minutes ago!

Aaron Hughes

About 3kgs

Aaron Hughes

Have you collaborated with Alexgeekworkshop for this? He built a printable working chainsword and chainaxe (with sound) like a year ago

Choque

Do you know how much filament is need to print the functioning model ? Thanks

alex simmonds

Amazing

MagnuzX

That’s perfect. 😍

Hauke

Heck yeah!! Can't wait to dig into this!
