[ARCHIVED] Mizu

Hii!! Release day!

I am sooo excited to share this one with you! This water element dragon has an awesome wing design that makes it so fun!

The wing design features fan style wings with clip on fins! this allows you to print the fins separately which gives the dragon a pop of color! It is super simple assembly with adding the extra fins on the posts and then the star fish caps just pop in place securely

The fins print horizontally which greatly decreases the risk of losing adhesion and the whole plate

Important Information:

- The clip on fins were made to have a tight tolerance, you must be careful when adding them to the post without using excessive force. They were made to be tight so that they can be posable. if you find yourself struggling with getting them on you can do a few things:

Using a deburring tool on the inside of the hole to increase the diameter slightly

Reprinting the fins that didn’t fit and scaling them up by 2%

- Please double check the fins to make sure they were added on correctly as once the caps are on it will be difficult or impossible to get them off without damaging the posts.

- The bottom fins can be distinguished by a small dot near the bottom of the fin

- The top fins should go in the order of big fin first and then small fin on top

- when adding the caps it is best to place them directly on top of the posts and using your palm to push them in

Scaling

Mizu was tested down to 80% and up to 125%

I don’t recommend printing her smaller than 80%

If you found the tolerances to be too tight I recommend printing the clip on fins at 82% for an 80% Mizu

When scaling 125% and above the fins and caps should be printed 2% smaller in order to combat the increase in tolerances. This means for a 125% Mizu print the fins and caps at 123%

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everything prints without supports!
I recommend increasing top layers to 6 in order to get clean top surfaces on the fins
If you are having adhesion issues Mizu prints great with a brim of 8 lines and 0.2 gap
I think this sums it up! If you are having any issues don't hesitate to reach out to me here or on discord as I am more than happy to help!
Christine
whats the discount code for this in cults3d
The Fresh Prints of NJ
Hii!! sorry to hear that! They are definitely a bit delicate! Glueing them on is best if you are seeing them breaking, changing the filament can also help as not all filaments are the same when it comes to layer adhesion.
Christine
Hi!! I absolutely love making this dragon. I am having a problem with the pegs that the star goes on. They tend to break and I have to glue the stars on. Do you recommend just gluing them or is there a way to make the pegs stronger? Thank you!!!!! I love your Patreon! ❤️
Rachel
It has been archived off patreon! There are two links at the bottom of the post where you can find the file, make sure to use the discount code of your looking to grab it 😊
Christine
Is it available for download or do I have to buy it on cults3d?
Hai Nguyen
Hiii!! Archived means that it is no longer on patreon! It’s available in my cults3D and MMF store 😊
Christine
Hello! I cannot seem to find this in the archive file. Is it still there? Or do I just need more coffee? Thanks!
Nicole Martin
Hiii!! The posts are delicate for sure! you have to make sure you are putting the stars at a straight 90 degree angle to the posts when popping them in, you can also scale them up by 1% so the fit is a little less tight but you may need to use glue to keep them on! Hope this helps!
Christine
We just finished this one, and the body and fins printed beautifully - everything at 100%. But when I put the caps on, 2 of the post tops broke off. Wondering if there is something I can change for next time so this doesn't happen again? I will try and glue these on. Thank you!
Tricia
it is and this is another great design.
Joshua Bryan
I have been hearing that smaller fins and stars work better for some for sure! Glad that’s working better for you!
Christine
printed the body great at 100% but printed the fins and stars at 97% to get a nicer and tighter fit.
Joshua Bryan
oh no! what printer do you have?
Christine
She is beautiful, sad to say tho, i use Cura and at 100% she doesn't fit my build plate. so 95% it is...its all good tho.
Leann Ditch
Aww thank you for the kind words! Im so glad you like it!!
Christine
I just need to say: NEVER underestimate the gratitude you'll receive from releasing multi-color prints that can be printed separately/in pieces. I have three multi-color printers. But the best results always come from printing the colored pieces separately. Thank you so much!! Such a lovely design!! :)
Ben - FlexiPals
The pink and teal one was done only using a make up sponge and a brush for the eyes, it was super quick paint job! I will try my best to get a tutorial filmed 😊
Christine
I love this but mine will never be as beautiful as your colours! 🥺
